It includes hardwood forest, swamp, a beautiful swimming beach* on the Albemarle Sound - one of the largest freshwater sounds in the world-, acres of farmland, vegetable garden and perhaps the largest fig orchard for hundreds of miles around. The purpose of the Spruill Farm is to further environmental research, promote ecological education and sustainable practices, and provide access for the public to the ever-diminishing shoreline experience. Please enjoy the incredible sunsets and woodland views, while respecting the serenity of this unique gem on the inner-banks. Wildlife on the property include Red Fox, River Otter, and 95 species of birds, including Bald Eagles (2 nests on the farm), nesting Osprey, Wood Ducks. Core Creek Campground will allow you to dump for $39. 20 minutes from shops and restaurants of Beaufort and Morehead city. There is also a ferry to Ocracoke Island from Cedar Island, a peaceful 20-minute drive away. Really great access to a quiet and beautiful part of the outer (inner) banks. Everything you’d ever want to do at the beach is within 30 minutes and the sunrise on the sound is gorgeous. Be prepared for mosquitoes, especially at dusk. Recommend spray or a bug light. Carteret County is now spraying our site for mosquitoes! With Cape Lookout National seashore and Fort Macon State Park under 20 minutes from us, you also have tons of outer-bank activities to choose from.

What an amazing campsite! Stunning views over the Albemarle, well-marked nature trails, birdsong. Hawks over the fields during the day, barred owls at night! Very quiet, even with other campers on the property. Virtually no bugs (thank you November!) Julia and Lincoln are awesome hosts, easy to reach and very communicative. Look forward to coming back!

Nice area quiet and well kept. everything you need to set up camp. The pad is a little quirky. Your power is on one side of the pad and water and sewer are on the other side. The pad I guessing is 36 feet wide, So you need to park according to how much cable or water line you have.I parked near the power so I had to run 25 ft of sewer line. and it goes up hill at the end so you had to walk out the drain line , There seems to be 2 inlets you need to look around for the lower one it is hidden in the grass. the other inlet sticks up so high it was difficult to get a good drane . both 50 and 30 amp are available. The water is Ocracoke water, I Never did like it You might want to bring bottle water , Although there is no problem with the water it is safe to use , I just don't like the water anywhere on the Island. no picnic table or trash cans. You can deposit trash at the trash depot next to the post office. Not far from town so community store is just a few minutes away as well as Restaurants and shops. If I keep RVing I will be back .

The campground was a nice little spot next to the road. It seems like the perfect spot for families with younger kids as there's lots of little trails for littles to explore and practice their balance on. I had a great time and Paul was an excellent host to us. During the storm he allowed us to move from our original campsite so our tent wasn't blowing around so much. I had a great time and would definitely go back!

I had an awesome solo weekend getaway. Put simply the area was very private, you’re right next to the water, and you can mentally getaway. I had the pleasure of running into the owner (by accident on the way out, shout out to Julia) and she let me know of the walking trails that were around the property. Super sweet lady and she really cares about your experience. Just book it already and have a good time! I’ll be going back this winter!

I’m a solo female traveler, and safety is very important to me. I did car camping on Julia’s land, and it was such an amazing experience. You get the beauty of the farm, as well as a waterfront view on the campsite. I fell asleep to the sound of owl calls, and I woke up to the soft crashing of the waves. There are clearly marked trails throughout a wooded section of the property with pretty views of the water. I walked the trails before breakfast, and went for a swim in the sound before I left. It was a really peaceful space where I felt completely immersed in nature. I’m planning my trip back already. Thank you Julia, for sharing and maintaining this beautiful land, and for sharing your mission. I also appreciate you checking in on me and making sure everything was going well.

Weekend Trip to Spruill Conservation Farm

I love the seclusion of the campsites. There are only 3 and they are spaced apart for privacy. I also like that there are 2 port a potties! The only thing was ours was smelling something terrible when we were down wind of it. It obviously hadn't been dumped before we go there. The site itself is great, lots of trees, right on the water and a small sandy beach to walk on. I would live there if I could! Julia has made sure you had what you needed to have a great time. Large fire pit with benches all around and cleaning brushes to clean the top of the grate. Don't worry about water, there is an old hand pump for your water needs, to wash your hands, NOT to drink! If you like to explore there are trails in the woods that you can explore. I always feel very safe there as the gate to the property stays locked. It is the best campsite I have discovered so far. 7 nights at Fish Camp retreat

Just leaving after such a relaxing week. My favorite place to vacation and was so glad to find this spot. Large site, easy access, I did not see a picnic table or trash bins, the electric and sewage are on opposite sides so you may need extra hose and park in the middle of pad. I would definitely return and am already looking at dates to re book

Weekend Trip to Crockett Landing

We loved this campsite! There were so many thoughtful little touches that made it nice and welcoming. We came here for one night with our one year-old. We appreciated the “café“ little outdoor kitchen, with pots and pans to cook with. We also appreciated the bathrooms, and the hot shower was really nice! Each of the campsites has a cool design, and it’s right close to the water. We got to use the canoe and go out on the water at sunset. Paul was very helpful and responsive in helping us get the canoe, and super nice to talk to! It was very quiet and peaceful here. We would definitely like to come back someday!
