Sandwiched between Isle of Wight Bay and the Atlantic Ocean, Ocean City is a resort town known for its historic boardwalk and extensive beaches great for beach camping. Hipcampers looking to fall asleep to the sound of waves can camp right on the beach at campgrounds offering cozy cottages and RV sites with hookups and amenities like golf cart rentals. Or travel to Assateague Island—a popular beach camping spot known for its wild horses and miles of sandy shoreline. Beach camping is also available at Assateague Island National Seashore campgrounds, with drive-in and walk-in campsites on both the bayside and oceanside. Facilities include potable water, cold showers, and chemical toilets. Other beach camping options sit up the coast at Delaware Seashore State Park, home to six miles of oceanside shoreline and 20 miles of bayside shoreline with amazing hiking and fishing. The park has two campgrounds within walking distance of the beach for tent and RV camping, equipped with 30- and 50-amp electric hookups, heated bathhouses, and laundry facilities.
