Had a great time would definitely recommend staying the land is great and the occasional guinea at your front door never gets old the beach access is also amazing nice and secluded and plenty of space to bring a pet and have a fun stay

The treehouse was so cozy , especially at night with the fairy lights. It had everything we needed for a relaxing camping trip and plenty of land for my dog to walk around. Would definitely come back & Ian was very helpful!

The treehouse was awesome and our host was spectacular. Extremely responsive and respectful with all of our requests and anything that popped up. Would definitely recommend. Awesome stay. 10 out of 10

Our campsite in the middle of an upgrade, but the area it was nicely maintained. Ian’s hospitality was great!!! And we employed being so close to the water!

This place is a little sanctuary! Ian is such a wonderful host, the birds are so much fun and the whole property is a treat to explore.

Beautiful site! We loved the tree house and had a wonderful time staying here. We were excited to play the N64 and use the telescope, and also enjoyed just sitting in and around the tree house. The outdoor shower was great for rinsing off after visiting the beach, and for washing dishes. We needed Ian's assistance a couple of times, and he was incredibly helpful and kind. Definitely recommend!

We had a fantastic stay in the beautifully built stargazer cabin. It was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. We loved being so close to the beaches; the area has tons of wildlife. Ian is an awesome host! We can't wait to go back!

Great spot, very well thought out. I would definitely go back.

3 nights at The Guinea Farm, Field, and Forest

Staying at Ian's farm was a fun, relaxing experience! Ian was a really great, gracious host and we enjoyed getting to meet him and all the birds! We got a tour of the farm and got to hold and meet the birds after we arrived. We opted for the firewood challenge to see how much we could carry, which was a good time. The stargazer cabin is really well-built, cozy, and a nice, quiet getaway. We felt safe in the cabin even though there was a huge thunderstorm during our stay. The cabin's kitchen had everything you needed, the outdoor shower and composting toilet were comfortable to use, and the bed in the loft made for good sleep. The guinea fowl will keep you constant company, and they're so fun to watch and listen to! The beaches nearby are quiet and super quick to get to. Nearby Matthews also has a really good grocery store and small downtown for extra treats during the day or for picking up stuff to cook on the way to the cabin. We'd definitely visit again and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to get out to the country for a bit!

Treehouse was amazing. Ian works every day improving his sites. He thought of everything from wifi to Fairy lights. The grill is perfect for cooking anything you need. My daughter and I really enjoyed our time there and meeting all the animals. Snuggling with a baby goose might have been her favorite part of our trip!

Amenities galore! N64 with projector, gas grill, WiFi, USB fans, rocking camp chairs, citronella candle, amazing treehouse w/doors and windows to open or close. Already-inflated air mattresses on single cots were ready for our pillows and sleeping bags- the tent was very roomy, easily fit 4+, had a lantern, and let us wake up gently to bird sounds. Watched guineas in the field among fragrant wisteria blooms. Small beach nearby. Hubby: “worth every guinea!” Kids: “

We had the loveliest time at the Stargazer Tiny Cabin! Ian was an excellent host the kids were stoked to get to hold baby chicks and goslings and meet all the other birds! Highly recommend staying here. I know we’ll be back.

Weekend Trip to Sharp's Island

Best camping trip ever! Beautiful land with lots of privacy. The porta potty was very clean and the site was well maintained. Ian was very accommodating and he gave us an awesome tour of the fowl. We were able to hold the babies and got an entire science lesson. We will definitely be going back again and again.

We had a blast camping out on Sharp's Island! It was a spontaneous adventure and I'm so glad we were able to book. The island is such a cool spot, we had amazing sunset views and ample room to set up. Andy is a great host, and I'd definitely recommend staying here! The canoe ride over isn't very far and is safe, and Andy will tell you (and like other reviews have said) just pay attention to the tides and river water levels! If you can, time your crossings closer to high tide when the current isn't as strong. If the river is high and it's low tide, paddling to the island can be more of a workout!

Wonderful host very kind and accommodating. Always around to assist and answers calls for help quickly. Went above and beyond for our group. Perfect place for kids camping. We loved it and the beach is beautiful.

Weekend Trip to Sharp's Island

Enjoyed the stay at Sharps Island. Location was perfect for fishing all three days we were there. Caught plenty of shad and catfish. We will be back.

I had an amazing time staying here! The treehouse makes you feel immersed in nature and the property is beautiful. I enjoyed a peaceful bike ride down to Aaron’s beach and had the entire area to myself. Ian was a great host. I would definitely stay here again!

Weekend Trip to Sharp's Island

This is most definitely camping (with some glamping ease), and we LOVED it. However, if you're looking for an Airbnb, cushy experience, this isn't for you. This is a working guinea farm and the birds are squawking pretty much around the clock. The second night we were used to it, but the first night was an adjustment. Also, watch out for rutted ground on the way in and just stop when needed. The road isn't long, anyway. This is also the way (walking) to the portapotty, so a headlamp at night is needed. Again, this is CAMPING, so such things are to be expected. If you go in with that attitude, you will love it! We did. The tent fit our family of five well and we really appreciated the treehouse for cooking, eating, and playing games. We enjoyed a fire at the fire pit and the kids had the run of the woods. Ian was a great host and made sure we had fresh water and propane. We enjoyed little touches like hammocks and chairs. The nearby beach was charming and just a quick drive.

Such a great experience and a WONDERFUL host. So helpful and was so kind. We had so much fun and we will be coming back. 100/10

We loved staying at the stargazer cabin on Ian’s farm. It is set up perfectly and Ian is a fabulous host. I meandered through the woods finding different plants, hubby kept the campfire going and our pups were content. Ian has the most beautiful chickens and new chicks hatched that morning! We loved it. Go see Ian you will be glad you did.

The Guinea Farm, Field, and Forest

The Guinea farm is 18 acres of feild and forest on the rural middle pennensula. Only 1 mile from 2 separate secluded beaches and a boat launch. There is verly little traffic or light polution here, nature is at your fingertips. Come visit the farm and experience agrotourism at it's finest. Pick your own veggies in the community garden and meet the Guinea fowl! Enjoy the windernes and learn about the local ecosystem here on the middle pennensula. There are 3 sites spaced out across the 18 acres set apart for privacy. Wisteria is a primative site closer to the entrance gate. Trilogy is a suspended tree tent in the pines 700' beyond that and seperated by dense forest. Stargazer Tiny cabin is an offgrid rustic camping cabin on the back side of the property. Each site is surronded by several acres of forest and close to the edge of a large feild. There are romaing guinea fowl that may come make a very loud appearance as they canvas the property eating bugs. Deer, Turkeys, Bald Eagles, foxes, and other wildlife are common guests also. Mid-summer is what I call frog season, Tree frogs are abundant and provide a wonderful soundtrack. There are free to use bicycles, an axe throwing board, and cornhole boards available. 4 miles from shopping and dining in Mathews Virginia, 15 miles to Gwynn Island. Gwynn's Island is an island located in the Chesapeake Bay off of Virginia's Middle Peninsula. The island is located in the northeast part of Mathews County, south of the mouth of the Piankatank River. It is connected to the rest of the county by a swing bridge over Milford Haven.

Contact Andy at 804-212-6639 for parking instructions. There is no bridge to Sharp's Island, but we can rent you a canoe or kayak. It's super easy. Sharp's Island is so named because the Sharp family of Richmond owned it as far back as the 1850s. The old brick foundation you see in the pictures is all that remains of a house that was built on the island in 1895 and stood for 75 years! We consider ourselves stewards of an amazing historic, ecological, geologic, and recreational asset, and we would love to have you add your story to this island's long history! Learn more about this land: One-of-a-kind really only begins to describe 1-acre Sharp's Island! For starters, this is the only legal camping option in the city of Richmond. You read that correctly.
