The Quack Shack

3 sites · Lodging2 acres · Brevard, NC
Located on the grounds of the Duckpond Pottery, The Quack Shack is a secluded treehouse perched along the banks of the French broad River. The structure is an 8x10 A-frame that transforms via a hinged wall to become an open air cabana with an expansive deck that affords spectacular views of the French Broad River and surrounding countryside. The interior of the Quack Shack, with its vaulted 11 foot ceiling and earthen plaster walls feels more Italian villa than shack. It is furnished with a comfortable seating area surrounding a coffee table that at night can be easily converted to a full-size queen bed. On the outside deck are beach chairs and a chimenea available for use. The quack shack has electric power (1 outlet only). Amenities include a bathroom located a short walk away at the main building as well as an open air on demand shower located off the bathroom on a deck overlooking the French Broad River. Morning coffee and tea is available at The Tea Hut located just a hop, skip, and jump from the treehouse. NOTE: The Duckpond Pottery is a working studio pottery and gallery that is open to the public. It is also home to occasional open-air house concerts on the deck at the pottery. The host generally blocks concert dates, however, it is worth double-checking with the host that there will not be a concert if you desire a quieter experience. The site is accessed via a short trail through the trees down a gentle, sloping hill, and finally by a short stairway, and as such it may not be easily accessible for campers with limited mobility.

Adin`s river cabin

1 site · Lodging10 acres · Casar, NC
My property consists of a ridge running east to west with the access road running along the south border.  the land slopes up to the ridge for about 300 feet, and then down to the river for about 800 feet.  The south side of the ridge has a small pond close to the road.  The rest is pasture, and an orchard and small vineyard.  The north side of the ridge is old growth timber, and shady and cool.  The two cabins are along the river.  One is perched on a ridge over looking the river and the other is right on the river.  The swimming hole is 30 feet from the lower cabin.  There is room for a couple campsites along the river also.  The south side of the ridge was a cotton farm decades ago, but was covered in timber when I bought it 12 years ago.  The north side has been in timber for the known history of the property.

Flowertown Charm Off Grid Treehouse

1 site · Lodging23 acres · Canton, NC
This primitive off-grid 100% sustainable treehouse located on 23 private wooded acres in WNC, is perfect for outdoor enthusiasts, adventure seekers, nature lovers, and hopeless romantics + dog parents! If the long range mountain views weren’t enough already…the treehouse is powered by solar, heated with the cutest tiny wood stove, water collected right from the mountain, exhilarating outdoor shower, and the coolest homebiogas toilet with a view! Along with hand-crafted woodwork from local lumber or right from the property itself, adorable kitchenette, custom copper finishes, and plush organic linens. This treehouse makes glamping feel luxurious and romantic. The treehouse is located on 23 private acres in Canton, NC, right on the Waynesville, NC border, just west of Asheville. The elevation is 3100 and climbs to 3700 to the top of the ridge the property goes up to, and the property is all sloped. There are a few nature trails started, with plans to add more. Down the street is the Ten Acre Farm which sells produce they grow and has yummy homemade pizza & donuts on most Saturdays, and Jukebox Junction is a vintage diner also down the road. Waynesville is super close and is the quintessential Hallmark mountain town with amazing shops, restaurants, and breweries, and everything you need for your stay. Enjoy hiking? Well perfect because there are hundreds of trails nearby because the treehouse is equidistant to not 1, not 2, but 3 Blue Ridge Parkway entrances and is in the Pisgah National Forest. The highest point along the entire route of the Blue Ridge Parkway is located near us as well at Richland Balsam. In addition the treehouse is on a scenic byway which connects to another scenic byway. That makes the drive just breathtaking, going by farms and forest and runs along the Pigeon River which also offers tubing and amazing fly fishing. If that's not enough we are close to Asheville, Maggie Valley, Hendersonville, and Brevard. We suggest visiting our website www.flowertowncharmoffgrid.com/FAQ if you have questions! WINTER BOOKINGS: Our driveway may be impassible during winter weather and we recommend snow tires, snow chains, and/or 4x4 during the winter months due to ice. We do shut down the running water during the winter to prevent the pipes from freezing. We will provide guests with 5 gallon drinking jugs with a dispenser to use, and the toilet still has water to flush. But the shower, sink, tub, hose, and bidet will be shut down during these months. If you want the true off-grid experience this is it ;) We do require guests to e-sign our rental agreement that we will email to you, and request a $300 security deposit hold (not a charge) that we will release upon checkout. This is just a precaution for us letting people we don't know stay at our place and respecting it.

Royal Spartanette

1 site · Lodging1 acre · Black Mountain, NC
Step back into a simpler time when you stay in our 1951 Royal Spartanette. This beautiful and cozy “tiny home on wheels” is in great condition and includes almost all original details, from the adorable fridge/freezer to the original 1951 Dixie oven and gas range. The trailer has been lovingly cleaned, pampered, and outfitted with all new furniture, artwork, and homewares that either date from or nod to its mid-century design. It is set in the heart of Black Mountain next to a lovely stream. The space: The living room boasts a brand new stylish sofa, which easily folds down into a bed, perfect for a single person or two small children. There is a replica mid-century radio which enables bluetooth connection. Connect to our personalized 1950/60’s Spotify playlist, pour yourself a cocktail or glass of wine from the bar cart, and savor in the simplicity of how good life can be. This is truly stepping back into the past and there is no TV, WIFI, or "smart devices" (aside from the bluetooth speaker). If you need a place to work with powerful internet, this is not the place for you (though there is a very cool co-working space at Town Hardware, 5 mins away). The kitchen is fully equipped with a double sink, a gas range/oven, a fridge with a small freezer section, and all of the essentials you will need for your stay. The coffee and tea bar includes complimentary locally roasted organic coffee, organic teas, raw honey, and organic sugar. The bedroom at the back of the home is outfitted with a queen-size bed and is as luxurious as a 4-star hotel with an organic plush mattress topper, organic cotton sheets, and a beautiful eco-friendly linen comforter. The bathroom is efficient but has everything you need: a shower, sink, toilet, and space for all of your toiletries. There are plenty of organic cotton towels and even complimentary natural products (shampoo/condition, soap, toothpaste, etc) for your use if needed. Outside: Just a few steps from the Spartan is a private stream which provides a peaceful backdrop. There is a fire pit and grill for your use, as well as a small outdoor table and chairs for nights that simply insist on a cookout. For our most curious guests, we’ll even show you the secret trail which leads to the river. Please note, we are in the heart of Black Mountain, but not in the mountains. We are just a 5-minute drive to adorable downtown Black Mountain and 3 minutes to the highway, making it a very convenient location for touring the area. Our Spartan is housed on the side lot of our property near our home and there is an additional house behind us as well. The house behind the Spartan is about 100 feet away and is currently unoccupied. We are in the process of installing a wood fence so the Spartan has a more defined and private space. For the moment, we have installed trees to create a more intimate space for you. Please see photos for details. Guest Access: Guests will have access to the entire Spartan, as well as a private outdoor patio for their use. There is free gravel parking and it's a very a short walk to the location. The walk is through grass and gravel so please know if you have heavy bags, you will not be able to easily roll them to the Spartan. Interactions with guests: We live on the propery in the house next door and as long as we are home, we are available to help with anything you may need during your stay. Other details to note: Again, this is a return to simpler times, so there is no WIFI, TV, or electronics. There is no A/C however the Spartan is nestled in the trees which keep it comfortable year round. There is heat in all of the areas, so you will be warm in the colder months. There are three steps leading up to the Spartan which make it unfortunately inaccessible for those in wheel chairs. Also we use only green and nontoxic cleaning products for the Spartan. Upcycled Art Studio

1 site · Lodging6 acres · Asheville, NC
Welcome to my peaceful homestead in the valley of the Blue Ridge Mountains. This rustic studio space I affectionately call Chicken Church, has been a labor of love, using all the materials I have collected from my many construction projects over the years... and many states. My friends all know who to pass the junk along to. The space is heated with a wood stove and has an antique 1922 wood cook stove--do you know how to cook on one? The kitchen is set up with a sink, water kettle and cooking amenities, including an electric stove. Bathroom amenities: cold water sink and toilet. No shower inside, but there is an outdoor shower, propane heated. The main house on the property is within 200 feet, where I share the space with Airbnb guests. There is a close neighbor family to the left, about 250 feet away. Because my property is in a residential neighborhood, respect for neighbors and other guests is greatly appreciated. Outside, you’ll feel an instant sense of peace and tranquility surrounded by horses, happy, free ranging chickens, abundant woods, gardens, ponds with some new baby geese chicks soon, open lawns and a fire pit for your restful getaway. I have a pup who monitors the outdoors... and to keep it uncomplicated, i cannot accept other pets. Asheville is about a 12 minute drive: Known as the craft beer capital in the US, there is no shortage of breweries. You don't have to go very far to find a plethora of trails in this town, including the mountain to sea trail which is easily accessible from this neighborhood. The farm to table scene is amazing... so much good food! Eat! Eat! Eat!
