Weekend Trip to Jake's Farm

We had a great stay at Jake’s farm! The site was exactly as pictured, and everything matched our expectations. Jake/Chris was a welcoming host and very quick to respond to any questions. One of the highlights was seeing so many fireflies at night—it made the experience feel truly magical. Would definitely recommend!

Weekend Trip to Bull Mountain Ridge

This was our first trip to a Hipcamp and we’ll definitely be doing it again if they’re all as welcoming and relaxing as Williams property was. The setup was secluded, scenic, and perfect for our trip back to Asheville. Close to all Asheville has to offer, it gave us the ability to wander downtown during the day and then enjoy all that camping has to offer in the evenings. Highly recommend:)

Fern Gully is a great little campsite, with really cool creek and river access. It’s also a great place to put in for tubing, I recommend also booking The Bend for take-out, if it’s available.

We really enjoyed this spot! We arrived late and it was nice that there were solar powered string lights there to assist us with setting up our camp. From looking at the turtles to fishing and swimming- we had an amazing time. The site itself was on a hill/ cliff so we hd a great view of the river and were able to keep our mermaid dog from disappearing into the river unattended. There is also a little swimming hole right below the site that you can acess with a steep little climb down. This site is very sandy just FYI so do prepare to plan for that during your trip. There was also plenty of privacy. We would definitely visit again.

This site was so lovely. The rapids are peaceful and under some wonderful shade trees. The farm has great hiking, a little beach to access the river and lots of pigs!

1 night at Asheville Area Luxury Solo RV'ing

This was our first Hipcamp experience, and we were blown away by this site. The privacy alone was worth every penny. But then you add in the amenities, and our experience was brought to the next level. Everything was as pictured, and our only surprise was how dry the provided firewood was for our campfire after a dip in the hot tub. We can't wait to come back.

Weekend Trip to Hidden Acres Mountain Camping

Camping at Woods & Water was nothing short of awesome! There's so much to love about this space. As soon as we arrived... before setting up camp or anything... we strolled down the fern lined path and parked ourselves in the adirondaks by the creek and just chilled ahhh. The camp site itself was roomy and had amenities such as water, electricity, wood (for sale). Loved the wooden bench by the fire ring and appreciated the extra table near the grill. The bath house is adorable and how can you not love the heated toilet seat! The bonus was the chickens. They are beautiful and I loved meeting them, especially Sanders! Georgianna and Jim have created a remarkable space to truly enjoy the outdoors with thoughtful and whimsical touches of luxury. They were great hosts! We will definitely be back!

Weekend Trip to Outercamp, Blue Ridge Falls Retreat

I can not find the words to fully capture the beauty and magic of this stay at Gnome Yome. We absolutely loved every second of it. While it had everything we could possibly need, we embraced the way nature and the views brought us connection and disconnection from all distractions. We will definitely be back!

Weekend Trip to Camp Moondog

Fern Gully was the PERFECT primitive site for my husband's and my getaway. The host was very protective of our privacy, the river running right in front of the campsite was so lovely, and the string lights added a beautiful ambiance! Not very far from the site was Greenville and a ton of places to eat, and about an hour from the site was a hike to the tallest waterfall in SC which has a suspension bridge that goes right over it. Overall, 10/10 experience, we recommend it to anyone wanting to get away from life for a bit!

Beautiful space, lovely views and enjoyed the peaceful camping. Not necessarily the most tidy communal spaces, but if you want an authentic farm experience, this place is awesome. Recommended :)

Weekend Trip to The Confluence

Beautiful piece of property right on the Mills River. Had a great time camping myself, and even with other campers in the other spots was still very secluded. Short walk to River access or the outhouse (which was way cleaner than I expected). Saw a few groundhogs and swam in the River. In my spot there wasn’t too much to come by for hammock setup, but there is plenty around. Phil even came by and checked on me in the evening. Had a great time and I will be back.

TFC is a great spot! Jud was very welcoming and accommodating and the views from the top are next level. We had visited South Mountains State Park a few times previously and it's great considering how close it is to the Charlotte area. But TFC has even better views of the South Mountains and a pretty awesome river to play in. 30 min from several foothills towns worth exploring. Very easy camper hookup, nice flat spots, and a great facility with bathrooms and some extra seating for the great views. Thanks, Jud and family!

Lots of privacy at Troublesome Gap! It was pretty darn windy when we were there, but that didn't stop us from enjoying a peaceful night of camping. If we hadn't of arrived so late, we would have absolutely used the awesome space set up around the fire pit, but just didn't have time. Montie was extremely welcoming and made sure all instructions were clear as we arrived and when we left. I would definitely book again! Thank you, Montie!

We had moved to this beautiful quiet country road the year before after spending 15 years in the hustle and bustle of West Asheville. This land has a creek running through it, and is in a quiet, rural, residential area that is a mix of newcomers and families who have lived here for generations. Blue Ridge Horse Adventures

Get away from the crowds. On 300 beautiful acres once operated as a children's summer adventure camp, this property has a house with a dormitory style bathroom for camper use. There are 3 primitive campsites, 2 cottages, and a horse sanctuary. The campsites are spaced out around the property for privacy. A short walk gets you to the bathroom reserved for campers only which has 2 toilets, 2 showers, and 2 sinks. 4WD or AWD is recommended for all sites due to 1/2 mile gravel road and then completely off road for a short distance. Or, if you are bringing 2WD, there is plenty of parking and then walk to your campsite. We don't recommend trying to bring large RV's due to the access. We have not had a problem with Black Bears on the property. Help us keep it that way. Do not store or keep food in your tent. Don't sleep with food. Keep in mind bears are omnivores much like us. They eat mostly plants but also eat meat. For more info on bear safety, visit www.bearwise.org Winter camping is encouraged with free firewood. However, you will probably need to park near the bathroom and walk to your campsite to limit soil erosion of the off-road trail. Pets are welcome only at some sites, but please please let us know you are bringing them and they will need to be leashed due to other animals. A large part of the property is forest with hiking trails, creeks, and wildlife. You can see wildflowers and lightning bugs in season along with deer, turkey, and horses. And all of our spots have a great view of the sky! We're not far from the Bare Dark Sky Observatory. The grass horse arena and the pond were originally built for the summer camp. The pond is stocked with bass and bluegill and has a chorus of bullfrogs in summer. The arena is flat and has a long range mountain view all the way to Mt. Mitchell (highest peak east of the Mississippi). There are also a meadow spot encircled by trees.

Our home was built in 1904 and we have been lovingly restoring it since 2020. The camping field is a large space behind the main house that we do not use except as a garden space. It has a small labyrinth, fire pit, and picnic table. We do have neighbors nearby and the field is pretty open as landscaping is in progress. That being said, it is a quiet community! There is a lovely view of the surrounding hills and the night sky and summer fireflies are amazing! We are part of the Big Ivy Community and 13 miles north of Asheville. Hiking, biking, rafting, rafting, ziplining and more are all nearby. We are easily accessible to all things WNC including groceries, dining, gas and main roads. We do have 2 dogs that may roam from time to time though we will try to keep them away from the field during your stay. The Confluence

After years of looking all over the mountains for a river property we could call our own, our favorite spot on the river came up for sale. It just so happened it was nearly halfway between where we both grew up. After many sleepless nights worrying if we could succeed or not (it was much larger than properties we had been looking for), we bought it! Our favorite spot on the river was virtually inaccessible by any way other than floating. But after hundreds of hours of hard work, we think we have developed a place where others too can enjoy the things we do about the property. We dream big and Tellurian remains a work in progress, but we feel we have created a place where folks can enjoy the peacefulness of nature, the river and incredible views. My wife and I moved to the area, from Boone, in the spring of 2014. Our dream was to own a house, preferably a cabin, on top of a mountain with long range views and a gradual winding road to the top. Living in Boone, this dream was definitely out of reach. When we began our search for a new home in the Asheville area, we discovered that the more affordable homes were in fact on the mountains. Perfect! In general I always have a pretty positive outlook on what’s possible, however, I was skeptical that we would ever find our dream home. As Jeannie began her Zillow browsing adventures, one particular cabin with acreage, that was outside of our budget continued to pop up. Jeannie would delete it and then it would come back. At some point the price began to drop, and drop, and drop. On our way back into town one weekend after attending a wedding, I convinced Jeannie to drive by the cabin just because we had the time. Immediately we fell in love and reached out to our realtor buddy. It was more of a shot in the dark but it couldn’t hurt, right? We held our breath for the next month totally expecting someone to get it under contract before us or the sellers not accepting our offer. It had already been reduced significantly so we knew our chances of a lowball offer were slim. We offered the most that we could get a loan for. They accepted! I still get anxious thinking back to that month, October 2014. Many years and two children later, here we are, just as excited everyday to make the long trek up our mountain as we were that August of 2014, and now we are happy to offer a similar experience to you, without having to buy the place. I sleep a lot on the day bed in the living room so the Sawmill can be comfortably rented for up to 4 guests. The outhouse is a thing of the past, just recently I installed a compositing toilet besides the bedroom.We also offer The Summit which is a high elevation, 2-story cabin surrounded by national forest which has evolved into an off-grid living and play space located at nearly 3300 feet elevation on a 1/2 acre flat with an incredible view. There are very private old forest service trails leading directly into the Pisgah National Forest.

Coffee is always free. :) I have fire pits, tables an, if I am home, I have a super cute corgi that roams around the property throughout the day. You will be about 8 minutes to DuPont State Forest (my favorite hiking and biking area) which has miles and miles of hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding trails. The entrance to Pisgah National Forest is about 15 minutes away as well so it's a convenient drive to visit the forest and drive up to the Blue Ridge Parkway. I also own a company that guides "coffee hikes" to local waterfalls in DuPont State forest. You can find more about that in the photo descriptions. :) Please note!! My road up to my driveway is steep and bumpy. It’s only 0.3 miles up but bumpy. You don't need four wheel drive but higher ground clearance is recommended. (I have had small cars make it up but it is a bit intimidating if you are not used to driving in the mountains). if you have a small car just go slow. :) ------- Larger group? Want an indoor bath and shower?? There are 2 sites on one acre so plenty of space for social distancing! Rocky Fork State Park Tn. is just a short drive away for some great additional hiking , swimming and fishing. Indigo Eagle Sanctuary is an incredible place to experience the abundance of nature in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Our Sanctuary features two main areas: Mountain Tops, or Creekside sites. Immerse yourself in beauty and adventure, with waterfalls, a rushing creek, fishing, and camping. Our creek properties include the Creekside Cabin, and Waterfall Haven (multiple camping site options, with their own areas by the creek). Guests have room to explore the mossy wonderland along Hornbuckle Creek, take a dip in a swimming hole, take an adventure and follow a rough trail (at your own risk) to another waterfall, accessed across the creek, or just kick back and relax. (Note to guests: Trail has not been maintained since last year. Go at your own risk.) Our mountaintop options include Eagle’s Nest and Songbird Campsites. These two sites provide breathtaking, long-range mountain views and epic sunsets. They are great for quick get-aways, with ease of access to main roads/highways. Indigo Eagle Sanctuary Sites are located within a few miles of the Blue Ridge Parkway, Cherokee Reservation (museum, shops, dining) and Maggie Valley, a quaint mountain town with more shops, food, and entertainment. Nearest grocery stores are Ingles in Waynesville, or Food Lion in Cherokee. The popular Asheville is about a 50minute drive from our Sanctuary. Plenty to explore here, while being able to unplug and unwind.

Cherryfield Luxury Group Camping exceeded our expectations. The shelters and grounds were prestine and the covered platforms were definately the way to go car camping. Our tents stayed neat and the covered shelter kept us dry and cozy as we watched the rain on our second night without a fly on our tent.This campsite has thought of everything. There are grills an firepits beside each platform (each platform is large enough for 3 four person tents) and there are two common shelters with electricity and GORGEOUS bathrooms. It is funny to say, but the bathrooms were nicer than many hotels we've stayed at... large tiled shower with digital temperature controls, excellent water pressure from the large rain shower head, and, as a bonus, surround shower heads for that extra special something. I have never been excited by a shower or bathroom at a campground, but I made sure to shower before leaving because the experience was so zen. There is ample lawn space to play games, set up additional tents, and spread out for privacy, even during larger group gatherings. There are grills and grill tops by each fire pit making campfire or grill cooking easy, but delicious local restaurants just 10 minutes away also offer catering style menus that makie car camping and group gatherings even easier (the local BBQ and Italian were terrific). The grounds are meticulously kept and there are sturdy bear boxes to protect food and trash to help keep unwanted visitors from troubling guests. While we enjoyed some activities away from Cherryfied, we could have easily spent the entire weekend at the campsite. Not only are the grounds spectacular, but there is an easy walking trail to a lovely moss covered waterfall just steps away from the campgroud. The sound of the waterfall can be heard from the campground. It added ambient atmosphere and lulled us to sleep each night. The hosts were terrific and offered many suggestions for take out meals and activities. My only criticism is that the weekend went by too quickly. I did not realize how much my family needed an escape of this sort until we got the Cherryfield. I recomment Cherryfield without reservation. Take good care of this special place. We cannot wait to return.
