We do not allow late check ins. We meet and greet all guests.the historic pond was originally much smaller. We have records that date back to our 6th Great-Grandfather, Joab Fountain, who received a royal grant from the crown in 1773 for the property and then just a grist mill, blacksmith shop and old general store. The property was passed down through the Fountain family until the late 1910's. Originally a creek dammed up for the purpose of the mill it was later dug out in the late 1940's by Lee Baysden. The property also features 2 smaller ponds and surrounded by woods, swamp, and farmed fields, a total of 84 acres. Divided by Duplin and Onslow County line making it very unique! Chinquapin, NC The store/office is the original detached kitchen from his homeplace, which is the white house just up the street. We still use this today and it has Mr. Lee Baysden's handwriting in the store that states opened June 1956. The pond was owned and fished until the late 1990's. A hurricane damaged the dam and land was sold sometime after. The next owner dug the pond into the lake it is today and fixed the dam. In 2020 My husband Tyler, and I decided to buy the Pond Our camp office/store is opened most weekends or by check-in requests and fishing passes available 7 days a week online from sunrise-dark. Our lake features fishing for Bass, Crappie, Bream, Catfish, Bowfin, varieties of Panfish, and more. Weekend Trip to The Homestead At Little Creek

As a first time solo glamper, this exceeded my expectations. I was greeted by the Megan, her husband, and their dog Myra. Traveling alone can be scary, but Myra was near me all night. She also walked me to the bathroom each time I went. The tent had a heater, as well as a fireplace in the glamping area that I used. In the morning, I got to meet all of the wonderful animals on the farm. With this location being only 30 minutes from Dix park, it’s the perfect place to crash after seeing Thomas Dambo’s trolls! Great for a group camping trip, but I loved doing it solo.

The Long Horn cattle were very majestic animals, my boxer was obsessed with them. They were having horse riding lessons when we pulled up, another first for my dogs. We had a nice place to stay and even filled up our fresh water tank. The farm was beautiful and the sunset was amazing! I highly recommend staying here!

Excellent spot away from the city but not to far out of the way. Right on the water side made for excellent mornings sitting around the fire enjoying coffee and enjoying the view. The host was exceptional with everything from first meet and great to departure. If you want a quite relaxing weekend away I would highly recommend this spot.

3 nights at Tar River Life

Loved staying at Nikki's campsite for a short girls weekend. Our site was private and right on the river, which was soothing to watch all day. Highly recommend living the Tar River Life!
