My wife and I moved to the area, from Boone, in the spring of 2014. Our dream was to own a house, preferably a cabin, on top of a mountain with long range views and a gradual winding road to the top. Living in Boone, this dream was definitely out of reach. When we began our search for a new home in the Asheville area, we discovered that the more affordable homes were in fact on the mountains. Perfect! In general I always have a pretty positive outlook on what’s possible, however, I was skeptical that we would ever find our dream home. As Jeannie began her Zillow browsing adventures, one particular cabin with acreage, that was outside of our budget continued to pop up. Jeannie would delete it and then it would come back. At some point the price began to drop, and drop, and drop. On our way back into town one weekend after attending a wedding, I convinced Jeannie to drive by the cabin just because we had the time. Immediately we fell in love and reached out to our realtor buddy. It was more of a shot in the dark but it couldn’t hurt, right? We held our breath for the next month totally expecting someone to get it under contract before us or the sellers not accepting our offer. It had already been reduced significantly so we knew our chances of a lowball offer were slim. We offered the most that we could get a loan for. They accepted! I still get anxious thinking back to that month, October 2014. Many years and two children later, here we are, just as excited everyday to make the long trek up our mountain as we were that August of 2014, and now we are happy to offer a similar experience to you, without having to buy the place. Hi! Lindsay and Matt West here. Our farm is situated on a 33 acre forested property in the Swannanoa mountains where we grow plants, make pottery and do metalwork. Although our dirt road is ~3/4 mile long, we are just 8 miles from the heart of Asheville, 4.5 miles from Beacon Village in Swannanoa, 9 miles from Black Mountain, and 3 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway. Our property is home to some of the most rare and beautiful wildflowers in the region, wildlife of all kinds, and a wood fired pottery kiln! We have three spirited dogs who bark and play in the yard, and neighbors who ride motorcycles and make some noise sometimes, so it's not always quiet and peaceful, but it is beautiful and far more private than you'll get at a campground. This is a working forest farm and studio space, so there will likely be sounds of productivity during daytime hours. We often have plants for sale, as well as pottery, herbs, eggs, and other farm offerings. We live on a one lane mountain road that is shared by multiple homes. The road is rough in some areas. If you're used to forest service roads, you'll be fine here. If you're used to paved roads, you might find ours a little jarring. My mom drives a little front wheel drive car and makes it here fine, but use your best judgement based on what you're used to. AWD/4WD recommended for ease of parking at the campsite (just in case it has been a wet season, otherwise totally not necessary). We do recommend getting here before dark the first time you arrive if possible for ease of navigation.

Welcome to Little Farm - Swannanoa! Hi! We are Kiera and Mary Bulan, and we run a community flower, vegetable, and herb farm in Swannanoa, NC. Our 6+ acre property is nestled in a fertile river valley along the Swannanoa River, offering rich habitats for nature lovers and ecological explorers. Women-, queer-, and BIPOC-owned—all friends, new and old, are welcome! Campsites: You'll be staying on a vibrant working farm with your choice of campsite—under shade trees by the river, near a turtle pond, or out in a sunny meadow. Life on the Farm: In our 2-acre production field, you're welcome to wander through carefully tended rows of flowers, vegetables, and herbs. We follow organic practices and regenerative, no-till methods and are eager to share our knowledge with fellow enthusiastic growers. A ½-acre native pollinator planting attracts butterflies, hummingbirds, and other beneficial creatures all season long. Enjoy the mist on the mountains as you sip your morning tea surrounded by blooming snapdragons, marigolds, and cosmos. Wildlife and Nature: Search for frog eggs and baby ducks among the cattails in the swamp. Differentiate dozens of bird species along forest paths. Scan the river for kingfishers and spawning bass. Cast a line for catfish in the pond (just be alert for turtles!). Our Story: We've been growing here since 2021 on a rented acre. After the property was heavily impacted by Hurricane Helene, we took a leap of faith and officially purchased the parcel in early 2026. Today, visitors can witness the inspiring, resilient restoration efforts of both humans and nature at work—live stakes, riparian plantings, abundant birdlife, and flourishing new growth! Bear Safety and Location: We live in Black Bear country, and require responsible behavior from our guests. Keep all food locked in your vehicle or bear-safe container. Never feed or approach a bear. Detailed tips on bear safety from the National Park Service provided prior to arrival. Our location offers convenient access to Swannanoa, Black Mountain, and Asheville.

Weekend Trip to Wiseman Ridge Boutique RV Park

This was our second time enjoying a weekend at Wiseman Ridge. Site #1 is spacious and private with the most wonderful mountain views. We love the peace and quiet, and also Wiseman Ridge's proximity to the Linville Falls Visitor Center and hiking trails. The Linville Falls Winery is just around the corner too! Eric is a very friendly and responsive host, and we will definitely be back!

3 nights at Spacious Skies Bear Den - RV/Tent Sites

Our first trip to a 'regular' campground with a large number of sites and amenities. This one is in a wooded setting with lots of trees everywhere. The sites themselves are not very private but the many trees adds to the ambiance making it a better experience. About half the sites around us were not occupied which helped but there is a good amount of separation between the sites. We did not use any of the other amenities since we were exploring the parkway and other sites in the area but were impressed with what was available right in the campground. Road entering the complex was slightly difficult (narrow and rough in areas) but we didn't have any problems entering or leaving.

It’s a beautiful spot to get away from the city. We had some fireflies every night. We ran low on fire wood and I messaged Nate. A couple hours later we had a ton of wood. Nate is a wonderful host. The hot tub was very clean.

Fantastic location and a great host. Very easy to get to from the highway and close to some very nice towns like Weaverville and Asheville. David introduced himself early to make sure everything was good. I look forward to being a repeat guest in the near future.

Great location in the "Land of Waterfalls," with lots of recreational facilities nearby. The campsite is nicely landscaped, with new water, sewer, and electric hookups. Jake, the host, is very nice and helpful. He permitted private access to a riverside beach on their family property, which was very nice.

3 nights at Dream Stream

The campsite was excellent, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The stream was beautiful, peaceful, and very relaxing. Our dogs loved it as well. Site 2 is located near the road, but traffic was minimal and never bothered us. On our next visit, we will probably book Site 1—not because there is anything wrong with Site 2, but simply because Site 1 offers a little more privacy. The town of Saluda is only about five minutes away and is well worth a visit. It has several good restaurants, unique shops, and a charming small-town atmosphere. We would definitely stay here again and would happily recommend it to others.

Spent Father's Day weekend with my son and my father - three generations in one camper. It was amazing and Jake was AWESOME!! Fishing was high on list of priorities, as our family thoroughly enjoys the peacefulness of the sport. Not only did Jake provide us with some pointers on where to catch some fish, but he also even allowed us to enjoy his private access to the river to catch some trout! The site was easy to access, well maintained, and beautifully landscaped. Highly recommend!!! Five Stars!!!! :-)
