Weekend Trip to Coweeta Creek Campground

Great place to camp. Tent or trailers etc this place would work great for either. We had rain when we were there but thankfully Melissa allowed us to move sites to one with a large car port covering which worked out great. Otherwise we would have been stuck in car/tent all night! Instead we were able to hang out outside under cover. Creek view and creek sound is awesome. Bathhouse clean. Definitely plan to come back.

We absolutely loved tent-camping here for the weekend! Large space for our family of 5. Beautiful views, quiet and peaceful. Facilities were clean and easily accessible. Super close to many trail and hiking options in the Smokies. We loved hearing the many sounds of nature as we fell asleep. Host was very kind and helpful. Would definitely return and camp here in the future!

Unclear as to why is this now called Shannon's land. The address is a campground called Roamstead (yes, address is correct) which is what it was originally posted as when I made the reservation. The staff at Roamstead Campground were amazing and extremely helpful and accommodating. They let me change sites due to not being able to hookup. Can’t say enough about the staff… they were an absolute 10! The facilities were clean and well maintained and a nice playground for the kiddos. That said, it was 100% a campground. Any implied statements that this is someone’s private land/private space like many of the posting on this website would be misleading. In peak season you will be right next to your neighbor just like any other campground. It’s a wonderful place to stay just know you are booking a campground.

June has a wonderful spot to camp or park a small rv. As an FYI, I have a tall roof long wheelbase Sprinter, and I wouldn't suggest trying to fit anything any bigger down the driveway.

3 nights at Cherokee Waterfall Campground

We had the pleasure of splitting our trip between both of these large, private sites. Both sites easily accommodated our 21 foot camping trailer, towed with a Ram 1500. The waterfall site has much more space, but the hookups at the creekside site were in an excellent spot closer to the creek. At both sites, we couldn’t hear the neighboring campers over the calming sound of rushing water. The creekside site also had the best hammock spot slightly over the water. We loved it! Richard was an excellent host and very responsive!

This place was beyond our expectations! It was a huge, clean, and private campsite. The waterfalls were mesmerizing and the creek was a great place to cool down after a hike. The camp shower and toilet a nice addition. Richard was an excellent and friendly host!

We had a great trip to Candy Mountain Goat Farm this weekend. We have visited this beautiful area several times and decided to give Hipcamp a try. CMGF is close to everything we wanted to do, and Scott and Nancy are great hosts. Treated myself to an amazing massage from Nancy. Highly recommended. Thanks for a great stay.

We absolutely loved every minute of our stay at Cherokee Waterfall Campground!! Richard was an excellent host who was very communicative, helpful, & kind. The waterfall site is now our FAVORITE campsite of all time (& we’ve stayed at many sites, including several waterfall sites over the years)! It’s too bad we live so far away or we’d be regulars. The lounge chairs were comfy, the bundle of wood purchased was large, and having a hot shower was exactly what we needed after spending the previous couple days exploring Great Smoky National Park. Even with all that exploring of natural beauty, the highlight of our trip was spending the afternoon and evening by the fire, while soaking up the views and listening to the relaxing sounds of the waterfall! Thanks for sharing your wonderful little slice of Heaven with us!!

This is the best campsite we ever stayed at. The sound of the creek and the view of the waterfall is spectacular. We hung around camp the whole time because it was so nice. Instead of using the full hookups which have no view of the waterfall we parked as close to the creek and enjoyed the view. Bring your friends and family, this site is huge with five fire pits and it's private bathhouse. Richard is very helpful and a pleasure to meet. We loved staying here and will be back. This is our second stay here and as always we had a blast. River and farm is gorgeous. Bath house is very clean and I love their soap. All the animals are well cared for and on fresh grass. *Be aware that the River House building does have BLACK MOLD everywhere for those of you that are allergic.* it’s in every part of this building structure. If this is an issue, there are other sites and buildings that appeared to be mold free.

The famous Iron Bridge over the headwaters of the Chattooga River is just a short drive away down Bull Pen Road. You will find some of the best trout fishing and hiking trails in all of North Carolina at your doorstep. This temperate rain forest is enjoyable in every season and is exceptional in its ecological diversity and abundance. If you are interested in hiking to beautiful waterfalls, fishing in native trout streams, bird watching or star gazing, this is the place for you! And if you need supplies from town, Cashiers is the closest and is about 25 minutes away and Highlands is about a 45 minute drive. Both have great restaurants and shops to check out. Our gated, gravel driveway is steep and a half mile long. You will need an all-wheel or 4 Wheel drive vehicle to get up the driveway without spinning. There is ample space to turn around to park, but due to the nature of our driveway we limit the length of RV's to no more than 20 feet. Property History: Coweeta Creek Campground WAS a 20 site, thriving, family/church oriented campground from the 1970's that was later sold, then neglected. This is now a two site campground with each site being around 100' away from the other site with trees and vegetation growing in between, you more or less cant see on site from the other from May until November. There is a orange cone that marks the border of the two sites. One set of campers will not be allowed on the other campers campsite, if this happens you will be evicted with no refund. Check in is at 2pm and check out is at 12pm. No shooting firearms, (although you may hear people shooting firearms because you will be camping in the mountains) but your more than welcome to bring your firearms. Its better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. No fireworks. No making trails or collecting firewood (This is not because I want to sell you firewood, its because I want to have the property remain as pristine as possible) Do not cut down trees alive or dead If you move picnic tables please move them back Dogs are permitted but message me first to see if your do will be a good fit. There is a small Church around 200 yards from the campground. They hold services every Wednesday and Sunday. They generally start around 5pm and it lasts around a hour. If your into that they would love to have you come down. The EBCI opened a dispensary around 3 miles from the campground. It will open to all adults over 21 starting September 7th 2024.
