The Farm at Piper Hill
4 sites · Lodging100 acres · NCWhat happens when you take an absolutely beautiful farm property, and add very friendly animals, mix it up with some rescue animals-including a camel and wallaby, utilize reclaimed wood dating back to the 1700's for outbuildings and even recreate a mining area that has recently unearthed artifacts and fossils? You get a bespoke outdoor experience to unwind, wander and entertain almost anyone in your family. The property is set on over 100 acres with one of the largest spring fed ponds in the area, loaded with trophy sized largemouth bass and catfish. The 1870 Farm Family of Chapel Hill, alongside the Kids farms Foundation, sought to save this property from development. This oasis is now an outdoor farm-based learning environment for children and a sanctuary for rescue animals. Visitor experiences at the farm include hands on time with our farm animals, fishing, kayaking, hayrides, hiking, mining for gems, treasure hunting at the creek and so much more! We also have curated experiences for date nights, afternoon picnics, family gatherings and just about anything you can dream up! Our large open spaces, open air barn and beautifully decorated barn house will make your wedding or special event all the more beautiful. For the kids, we offer birthday party packages, overnight retreats, day camps and summer camps. Our glamping and overnight stays offer a serene, relaxing environment to break away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Seasonal events such as our Easter Egg Hunt, Oktoberfest and Winter Festival will bring families from all over the Triangle together for some good old fashioned farm fun!

Wellspring Mountain
11 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents500 acres · NCWelcome to our Hipcamp; we are excited that you are here! Are you drawn to the outdoors and filled with fond memories of summer camp days? Wellspring Mountain has been a tranquil haven for 75 years, evolving from its early beginnings as an apple orchard turned wilderness therapy camp, its now home to Wellspring Mountain Botanical Sanctuary & The Eclectic School of Herbal Medicine. Come experience this captivating property that has brought respite and retreat for many over the years! The majestic Saddle Mountain, just off the Blue Ridge Parkway, cradles Wellspring Mountain Botanical Sanctuary. Here, nature flourishes with lush foliage and a variety of wildlife that quench their thirst from spring water-fed creeks and streams. We are delighted to share this picturesque paradise with outdoor aficionados and nature lovers alike! Over three decades, our lovely grounds served as a boy's camp until it closed in 2010. We took up residence in 2015 and have worked diligently to bring the property back to life. Though there is still much progress yet to be made, even with limited resources, we've managed some impressive renovations! Only 10 miles away by road, the Blue Ridge Parkway is less than a mile from the property peak, if you fancy a mountain scramble! Our mile-long driveway connects to the Surry County's Scenic Bicycle Trail and there's an abundance of options for biking, hiking, and paddling within 20 miles from camp. There's never been a better time to experience nature at its best when you visit us! With endless outdoor and recreational spaces for you to explore, it's no wonder why many people can't resist staying on the mountain! Our visitor area offers ample recommendations that you won't want to miss out on. Plus, we're always happy to provide suggestions while you're here if there's something specific your family is looking for. Come see what all the fuss is about - adventure awaits! If you have any questions please don't hesitate to reach out. Self Sufficient Holler
3 sites · Lodging, Tents10 acres · Moravian Falls, NCIn the 40's and 50's this spot was a local swimming hole and vacation area. Even buses came from neighboring communities so people could boat, swim, camp, and picnic. While we don't have access to the pond, our part of this land still is calling out to people, 'Come, get some rest, unload your burdens, and find peace.' When we started this project with Hipcamp, we didn't fully realize that we were reconnecting with the history on this property. So come, take your shoes off, and wade in the creek. Read a book while laying in a hammock. Sit by the fire and chat with family and friends. Come and participate in our little homesteading project, and leave your burdens behind. LOCAL ACTIVITIES: To the west is the Blue Ridge Parkway, which is 30 minutes away. 15 minutes away is Kerr Scott Dam where you can rent kayaks, pontoon boats, as well as other sporting equipment. Fish, go mountain biking on the extensive trails, and hiking. Prayer Mountain is right up the road, about 2 miles away. Heading east, you can find several fine wineries andvineyards that you can visit. There is also a moonshine distillery in town. About a half hour away is an Amish community that has several businesses open to the public, including the Shiloh Bakery and General Store. They are closed on Sunday and Monday. To the northeast, about 45 minutes away, is Stone Mountain. Absolutely fantastic hiking, it is also an old homestead that has been renovated and is open to the public. To the south, there is Rocky Face Park, where there is hiking and rock climbing. Nearby, is Emerald Hollow Mine, where you can go and find, and keep, precious stones you find in the nearby river. There is also a great disk course course, Highland Hills Disc Golf Course, one of the top 25 in the country. There is fun for all ages. Merlefest, the last weekend of April, is a world class Bluegrass festival, is located right in our town. Be sure to look at the activities section below for additional information.

Arcadia Sanctury
11 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents83 acres · VAArcadia is the name we gave to our 83-acre mountainside retreat center for Earth-Based Spirituality. It’s nestled on the south-eastern slope of 4000-foot Mount Pleasant in Central Virginia, convenient to I81. (Note, there is a town called Arcadia off I81, but that is not us. Not to confuse.)We have a mountain creek with waterfalls, towering Beech and Sycamore trees, Witch Hazels leaning over the water, trout, crayfish, snakes, salamanders, and all the rest. We have about 2000 feet of the vertical mountainside with trails to explore. (But the stage and most of the camping is down closer to creek-level.)  There are more sites higher up the mountain if you like more isolated camping.  More of a trek to the bathrooms/showers/freshwater.We have one of the finest private stages on the East Coast with a top-notch sound system and a natural amphitheater which is like a single pie wedge of a Stadium that has regular live performances throughout the spring, summer, and fall.  Our yurt is regularly booked as a unique glamping experience.  There are chickens, ducks, turkeys, and guinea fowl free-roaming.  One dog, eight cats, and several humans are blessed to call this home.
