Twin Valley Horse Ranch

5 sites · Lodging100 acres · Walland, TN
My late husband and myself bought the property in 1983 and it was all just overgrown land!We worked, cleared, built horse shelters/barns, cabins, cut trails, built the outdoor chapel for our wedding and of course fenced it all in for the horses! Started sharing with guests in 1993, so we have met so many amazing folks from all over the world!  Pass thru our gate into another world and leave all your worries and tensions behind. We are all about getting back to what is real -- nature, animals/horses and each other. Complete privacy! There are many mountain trails leaving right from our property! Lots to explore. You can even hike to the outdoor chapel with the pretty view of the Chilhowee Mountain range.  It is a short hike to the barn area for those who want to spend time rubbing the pot belly pigs' tummy, walk the mini horses, groom the love bug~Junebug (donkey), pet horses, cuddle with bunnies and feed chickens!  Every morning and night we set a time for all those who want to become involved with the care/feeding of petting animals and horses!

Winding Stair Campground

17 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents15 acres · Franklin, NC
Winding Stair Campground sits at an elevation of 3,380 feet, next to the headwaters of the Nantahala River and is surrounded by national forest and undeveloped private land trusts. The stunning mountain views in a remote tucked-away setting make our farm a perfect getaway! Just a 15-minute scenic drive from Franklin in North Carolina, easily accessible off Hwy 64, our campground offers a chance to enjoy nature without being far away from the public amenities of a small but well-equipped town. A few features about our property: - Working farm: Campers are welcome to meet our Icelandic sheep and take a self-guided tour of our farm, along designated pathways. - Security: The campground and farm are fenced in on three sides with the river being the fourth boundary. Personal code to the entrance gate will be given at check in. - Bath House: The restored bathhouse is split into boys’ and girls’ sides. Each side has 2 private showers, 4 flushing toilets, sinks, hot water, and gas heat. - Community Pavilion: The Pavilion is a large 40x30 ft. open sided structure overlooking the Nantahala River. It has an ample fireplace, running water sink, counter space, couches, and table with benches. - Pack Room: Where the adventure begins! A cozy hub where all guests check-in, get local information, view maps, and grab some local seasonal groceries. Also available to all campers are washing sinks with hot water, toaster oven and microwave. - Communication: Or rather, lack thereof! There's no cell service on the property so it's a great time to get away from it all. There is limited Wi-Fi available near the Pack Room and an emergency landline available. - Charging: Traveling in an electric vehicle? Recharge for free at our dedicated EV 50amp outlet when you stay at any of our sites. First come, first served. Want to know more about the history of the property? Nestled on the last 11 acres of the historic Davis farm, our property offers a unique glimpse into the past. The woods offers an array of Hickory, Oak, Walnut, Persimmon and various other varieties of trees, creating a harmonious natural setting. The RV at Chestuee Creek

3 sites · Lodging18 acres · Calhoun, TN
Almost two years ago we moved onto this rural property from the city of Chattanooga. One of the biggest reasons was to start growing and raising our own food. Since then we have started managing heritage pigs, registered dairy goats, chickens, ducks, a garden, and a food forest. Our hope for campers is to come not only to camp, but to be exposed to food grown healthier and happier than most. The way we rotate animals on pasture is like none other in our area, so we’d love to give a tour and show what it’s all about.Learn more about this land: Enjoy the view from the hill as the sun sets over the neighbors’ horses and pond. Also, we have several farm things going on, our garden is across the driveway, chickens are a stone through away, the goats will be heard for sure, and our heritage breed pigs may be found in the front yard depending on the time of year! The site can fit a truck and camper or large RV with a garden hose and extension cord hookup provided nearby.

Wanda's World

1 site · Lodging6 acres · Murphy, NC
In 2013 my husband and I retired from Florida to Murphy; We built a small cabin in the woods and began collecting critters. We now have 4 Nigerian goats, 4 Great Pyrenees and 1 little rescue mixed puppy. We are so blessed and wanted to give back. Several men from our church along with my husband and I built the "Bunkhouse" to provide inexpensive lodging to those that wanted to enjoy the simple life. Money received is shared with Renewed Hope a local not for profit, faith-based drug and alcohol treatment facility. Learn more about this land: The tiny cabin overlooks a small creek and sits at the tree line. In the winter you can see the mountains and in the spring and summer one can only see dense woods. Other than the host home there are no other homes visible.  The cabin is located 5.3 miles from John C. Campbell Folk School and 7.4 miles from Harrah's Cherokee Valley River Casino & hotel.  We are just 5.6 miles from the Historic Murphy city center. Three rivers converge to form Hiawasse lake outside of Murphy and the Nanatahala Gorge River and lake is close by.
