The campsite is just 100 steps down a well-marked trail accessible from the parking spot. Pitch your tent on the elevated platform encircled in pine trees with a view of the lake. Camp TedRock Adirondack Forest Retreat provides private and secluded off grid campsites and structures on 5 forested acres within the Blue Line of The Adirondack State Park in Thurman New York. Just minutes from I-87 and the Lake George Region, our A Frame site offers a 120 square foot authentic A-Frame cabin with an open Adirondack Lean-to approach. This 1-4 person A frame comes with 2 to 4 sleeping cots, 2 hammocks (available) with hanging space inside or out and plenty of space to pitch a tent all around, tent included. Down by the runoff stream (sometimes there is no runoff!) you'll find a fire ring with a cooking grill and outdoor seating. Inside the A frame you're provided a lantern, gas cook stove, kitchen ware, food storage cooler and small table and chairs. 14 gallons of potable water is provided. There is a small corner loo inside the A frame with a flushing RV type toilet for the ladies and also a comfortable Adirondack outhouse with an ecological waste removing system. Although the A frame is UNHEATED, there is a small propane space heater available to take off the chill of a cool Adirondack evening. A 1 lb Propane bottle is provided. As far as we know, this land has been occupied since shortly after the civil war. It is actually two farms, combined into one around 1900. The main farmhouse was built out of the logs they cleared in 1879, and there are old foundations of the other original farm houses/barns as well. All over the property (now woods) there are piles of stones that the original inhabitants pulled from the fields. The second farm house was built in 1901. Most of the total 240 acres were cleared pasture land at that time. During the twenties and thirties the property was owned by an industrious couple from the City that lovingly turned it into more of a "rustic retreat"; damming a pond, planting ornamentals and upgrading the buildings. There have been many owners over the years, but we are proud to say it has been with us the longest. Our family bought it in 1961 and we have been trying to be good stewards ever since. Come and visit our little patch of wilderness!

According to a few sources we've consulted, the Mohican people (Eastern Algonquian family of tribes - not to be confused with the Mohawk, a distinctly different tribe) were the indigenous occupants of the land where our farm is now located. Historians note that the name Mohican is from the indigenous word meaning "water that flows in two directions." Most Mohicans were driven into western NY and Canada when the Revolutionary War broke out.
Local history indicates that the first white occupants to build here were the Hawley Family, in 1790. Parts of the farmhouse date to this era. Outbuildings were added through the decades and centuries, and the land was used as a dairy farm, among other ventures, by previous owners.
We purchased the property in 2021 in hopes of providing more space, nature and outdoor living for our two little ones. We have two fields dedicated to Christmas trees, as well as apple, pear and cherry trees, and we've had successful garlic harvests to share with neighbors, family, friends, and at local farmers' markets. Jo: is a great person and very strong one at that to be so independent and self-sustaining, I mean what a cool individual, and her work ethic is top tier. She was kind enough to take the time to show me the local Amish market and took me to the church that her and her friends are working on and it was really impressive! Papa Joe's pizza was her recommendation for the local food spot and I have to agree that the Pizza was pretty incredible. It was like $8 for 2 cheese slabs and a drink. Mohawk, NY is nearby and it has a lot of historical significances and there is a cavern nearby and a diamond mine.
The land: was really nice. It's almost the only treelined property in the entire area because most of the properties are amish owned and operated farms. If you want fresh unpasturized milk on tap it's just down the road! YOU WILL HAVE TO HIKE TO CAMP as a disclosure, but once you get there it's well worth it and feels very secluded.
I will definitely visit again and I highly recommened Jo and her land if you're in the area. She's yet to rent out all the sites at once so let's make that happen hipcampers! If you're worried or concered she won't be able to accomodate just reach out and I'm sure she will accomodate you. The toilet is a composting style and you will need to bring your own privacy tent or take it down trail. She has egg krate style wagons for you to haul your gear from the parking area to the camp sites.

My husband and I were looking for someplace quiet and private to relax and unwind. Karl lives on the property behind the cabin and welcomed us with a burning fire. Even with Karl on the property directly behind us, the cabin faced out into the forest and felt very private. We saw Karl one time when he stopped to ask if we needed anything. We came prepare to camp in a rustic cabin and were pleasantly surprised when we walked in to find we really didn’t need much. There was a camp stove and all of the cook wear and utensils, along with dishes, cups and silverware. Karl and is wife have really put thought into every detail. It didn’t bother us a bit when the nights were cold and the first night rained hard. We found a heater and Yahtzee game inside to keep us warm and content. I really can’t think of one way they could improve. Karl was very friendly. We didn’t get the pleasure of meeting his wife but maybe next time because we definitely plan to visit again. Thank you Karl.

I loved tent camping here! There aren’t fully designated spots, it’s more just open woods with a few picnic table and fire rings but it was great getting to just look around a choose a spot to put our tent down! There’s are also trails that were nice to walk around too. Would love to come back :)

I loved every aspect of Ted’s Land. A frame is amazing, spacious, comfortable and left us feeling very safe.
Ted the host is great! You can tell he is super passionate about the outdoors. He gave us recommendations for areas that we would never have found on our own. I wouldn’t hesitate for a second to tell someone to visit on Ted’s Land. I look forward to planning another trip and sharing more stories with Ted.

Truly a beautiful piece of land. Perfect little cabin with such character.
A hot wood stove to keep cozy as the falling snow blanketed the silent forest around us.
Comfy sleeping pads, lights, plenty of wood, delicious water, cookware and other supplies. Outhouse was so clean and honestly adorable lol!!
Truly the peaceful escape I needed. I want to come back and experience what energy every different season offers, I’m sure they each offer magic.

Brought my girlfriend here as a little surprise trip for her bday and she absolutely loved it!! I was a little nervous about the weather but it ended up being so cozy inside the Yurt with the snowfall outside. Such a nice and relaxing stay with wonderful hosts that accommodates to all of your needs. Was so relieving to be able to pack nice and light and just hangout. We had everything we needed! Awesome hosts and a an awesome place. Ed made sure we had plenty of wood the entire time and was always available if we needed anything!
