Lake Taghkanic is a great place for both summer and winter stays, with plenty of tent campsites as well as cabins and cottages, and a variety of activities to do year round. For winter folks, there's cross-country skiing and snowmobile trails, as well as ice skating and ice fishing areas, and plenty of fire pits to warm those chilly bones. For summer lovin', there are two beaches, so if someone kicks sand in your potato salad (accidentally, of course), you can just go to another beach and pretend like it never happened. The only sleeping quarters that are on the water are some of the cottages in the West End Cottage Area, so if you're planning on playing Beach Party Bingo, plan accordingly or be willing to walk a bit from your tent or cabin.

For July 4th weekend, and Labor Day weekend drive-up sites are a 2 night minimum. In the off season starting after Thanksgiving through April, there is no water or toilet or shower facilities available. Before that, it was the land of the Mahican native Americans. They named it "valley of the butternut trees", or Wyomanock. The Wyomanock Creek is the backbone of this little valley. Beaver have dammed the creek at several points to create ponds and other wetland features that support a diversity of wildlife including otter, moose and a myriad of birds, from osprey to herons. This sanctuary is host to many uncommon native plants and plant communities. We would love to share it with you! Highly recommend! We weren't able to swim in the river due to a massive storm prior to our arrival but my family of 5 loved it!!!! Our kids ages 3,5,7 absolutely got the camping experience they were looking for. This is a site where you don't have to bring much. My husband and I were so impressed on how camp ready everything was. It made camping there such a breeze! PRIVATE & SERENE and SOOOOO MANY trails to explore. We didn't hear or bump into other campers. This site has great outlined trails and family friendly. Some of the best wildlife and everything was so well taken care of! An outhouse so clean and efficient that it had my kiddos going on their own! Our family created so many core memories here, I'm sure we'll be back and recommend to all of our family and friends! The directions they provide were spot on and the site even included instructions on how to work everything! We were also guided to our site and got an in depth tour of how everything worked in person. Paula and her lovely family were available to answer any questions or concerns we had! We came, needing to be in touch with nature, and left with so much more! Regulated nervous system check! Thank you, thank you, thank you! We can't wait to visit again!

this campsite was extraordinary. so, so beautiful, secluded, great for a group, set on an incredible river that you can tube down with your friends, and conveniently only a ~10 minute drive away from stores. Mark (who goes by Max) is a generous, warm and kind host -- he made sure our group had everything we needed and he also shared lots of knowledge of local plants and animals. do not hesitate! book with the knowledge that the listing can only convey a fraction of the magic of the land. our group will be back :)

After a long motorcycle ride, it was lovely to spend a peaceful night in this wonderful and secluded location. I was only there (1) night, however, I plan on coming back to explore the area further and enjoy the peace and quiet of this lovely location.

Such a great spot for a fun group trip. The waterfall was so refreshing too. For people who don't love rustic camping, this is perfect because they provide bedding and electricity. The tent is very cute.

Weekend Trip to Quentins Treehouse

Beautiful lake side get away, with just the necessities. Quentin was extremely courteous and respectful and just lovely! The treehouse was a great experience and an awesome site to wake up to the lake and the birds. The water in the lake was so clean and pure and beautiful. It was perfect for swimming and paddle boarding. Didn’t want to leave. It is as expected camping with an upgrade which we loved.

Our two parties of adults with kids had an amazing time at Joann's gorgeous Hudson Valley sanctuary, staying in the Airstream and the Black & Tan cabin. The property is lush and peaceful and within striking distance to so much great outdoor activity. We'll definitely be back!

The tent glamping site was very clean. Unfortunately weather was not on our side and it was storming all afternoon and night on our one and only night that we stayed at the glamping tent. So we couldn’t fully enjoy the site to its fullest but our pup definitely enjoyed playing in the water and roaming /exploring the little creek right in-front of the tent site

Weekend Trip to Quentins Treehouse

I couldn't imagine a more idyllic scene. A vine-covered, well built little shack on a clean, pristine lake shore. My fiance loves fishing, so the pier was perfect. The fire pit in front of the dwelling is great for cooking. And the hanging bed frame was whimsical and comfortable. The slight rocking was soothing. We were caught in a storm during our stay, so we stayed inside with the canvas curtains pulled shut. We kept dry throughout. The sound of the rain on the plastic roof, and the lapping of the water made for relaxing background noise and lulled me to sleep. The land is well groomed in a nice area, 15 mins from the quaint beauty of Great Barrington. The host was attentive and communicative through the hipcamp app, but let us have total space and privacy. I really needed to relax and decompress, and I can't imagine a better way to do it. It's mid July, so the lake was warm enough for a swim. The lake is so clear! I highly recommend staying here.

Weekend Trip to Little Duck Farm

This is a great campsite! First, it's really fun to see all the animals--sheep, rabbits, chickens, ducks. (They don't go in the camping area.) The site is spacious and the trailer is cute. Liza has put many pillows on the bed and made the trailer very welcoming. The outhouse is super clean. There is a fridge, stove and fan in the trailer. Everything is immaculate.

Weekend Trip to Otters and Eagles Cabin

Our mother/daughter; aunt/niece weekend at Otters and Eagles Cabin was a top-tier glamping experience. We liked everything about our stay. As someone who loves to camp and cook, I was thrilled to find that the thoughtful host provided plenty of kitchen items, making it so easy to prepare meals for our group. The cabin itself is nestled right in the beautiful woods with nature all around. We spent our mornings drinking coffee and our evenings sipping wine down by the gorgeous pond. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and the toilet facilities were well-maintained. I had only to ask if we needed anything, like an additional propane canister for cooking, and Mark would run it down the hill himself! This level of care and comfort made the whole experience smooth, accessible, and relaxing, which was especially appreciated by my 79-year-old mom. Between relaxing by the pond, nature walks, birdwatching, gathering around the amazing outdoor stone fireplace, and having the extra option for platform tenting, the setup was flawless. There was a slope down from parking, but a cart is provided to help move your gear. I have absolutely no criticisms of this property. We would go back anytime!

This Camp is excellent. Max has thought of everything, all your camping needs are covered. Makes it super easy to arrive with just the essentials and jump right into a good time. The creek is picturesque and serene. The views from around the property are gorgeous. Our dog loved running around in the meadow and creek. Even on a rainy evening it was dreamy.

This is my second time staying. Everything is perfect. It really is a great get away. Plus the blue fox music festival right up the road. Great time, great stay!
