This off-the-grid tiny house is nestled on a 23 acre parcel at the end of a quarter-mile dirt road. The property itself is secluded but is less than 2 miles from the heart of Saranac Lake's downtown. This property is bordered by the Saranac River, the backside of Baker Mountain and State Forest. The only other building on the property is our timberframe which we may or may not be at during the time of your visit. The property does have private trails up to the cliffs on the backside of Baker mtn however, the Saranac River is down a steep embankment so it does not make for a good place to launch a boat (several public boat launches nearby).
The Mt Baker tiny house is a great basecamp for hiking the Saranac Lake 6-ers, paddling/boating along the Saranac Chain of lakes or Saranac River, Mountain Biking at Dewey, Pisgah or other nearby BETA trails.

The camp was first built in 1905 by Dr. Goldsmith and family. The doctor and his family used the camp for summer vacations. During the winter the camp was rented out as winter hotel for loggers. Ice was harvested from the pond and stored in what is now one of the cabins.
When our family bought the place, the hotel was falling down and the buildings were in disrepair. Geoffrey, the family caretaker, has spent the last few years cleaning up the site. All that remains now of the hotel is the chimney while the ice house has become a cabin and has been improved and ready for visitors. We have a double futon, small wood stove and gas burners for a cozy indoor experience.
With 840 ft of pond frontage and 4.4 acres you can pitch a tent on the banks of the pond, up in the woods, or stay in the small cabin all are included in the cost of booking!
Swimming and boating in the pond is obligatory. Year round fishing has long been a tradition.
The spring fed pond is home to large and small mouth bass, northern pike, crappy, and blue gills. There are a number of ponds and state lands nearby. Accommodations include two outhouses and two docks so no waiting. There is a canoe and rowboat available and life jackets. The camp is car accessible Mid-May to the end of September.
There are summer cottages across the pond but not much happening on our side. Cedar Lodge, the nearest bar/restaurant, is about 5 minutes away and very popular all year round. The closest gas station and convenience store is about 20 minutes in the village of Parishville.

Her family lives in Florida and has continued to maintain and improve the old camp for the last 40 years. As far as we know, this land has been occupied since shortly after the civil war. It is actually two farms, combined into one around 1900. The main farmhouse was built out of the logs they cleared in 1879, and there are old foundations of the other original farm houses/barns as well. All over the property (now woods) there are piles of stones that the original inhabitants pulled from the fields. The second farm house was built in 1901. Most of the total 240 acres were cleared pasture land at that time. During the twenties and thirties the property was owned by an industrious couple from the City that lovingly turned it into more of a "rustic retreat"; damming a pond, planting ornamentals and upgrading the buildings. There have been many owners over the years, but we are proud to say it has been with us the longest. Our family bought it in 1961 and we have been trying to be good stewards ever since. Come and visit our little patch of wilderness!

The camp sits on a secluded corner of our property near Mill Creek, just minutes from the famous Black Hole and Dunkley Falls swimming area. The swimming hole is publicly accessible nearby (not on our land), so you get easy access without day‑use crowds at the campsite. Dome – The dome provides air flow and opens with an extendable rod with a hook that is kept inside, next to the front door. (Close it when you head home)
Windows - Windows roll up w/ or w/out airflow, (see image). Use the step stool inside, behind the fireplace. Pay attention to the weather and close the plastic window if rain is in the forecast. Spot dry if you forget.
Fire and fire pits – No flame near the yurt. Use the propane fireplace outside anytime and replace gas for the next person if empty. Wood fires happen at the waterfront In the fire ring (only) and need to be controlled, have the black bucket full w/water. DO NOT use the indoor fireplace or heaters.
First aid; fire extinguisher – kept in the kitchen near the shelves/garbage. First aid kit is in a Patagonia satchel. (Call 9-1-1- in an emergency and please let me know if anything serious occur). Tupper Lake Health Center is 15 minutes away; 7 Stetson Rd #101, Tupper Lake, NY 12986
Cooking – Pest control is critical and begins with deterrence. Please only cook inside as necessary. Things that splatter (i.e. bacon must be cooked outside on top of the gas fire, carrying the stove/burner outside)
Food – All food, including dog food must be stored in the car every night, or when away for an extended period. Again…deterrence.
Drinking Water - Use Primeo 5-gallon water jugs for fresh water. A hand pump that attaches to those specific jugs is stored under the small kitchen table.
Bathroom and wash up – Off Season: There will not be toilet facilities. Bring a camp potty or go to town. In Season: There will be a construction-style porta-john onsite during summer months. Use the Nalgeen jug and soap at the small red table outside the porto-john to wash up. Consider filling it with river water to save money and time. (in most cases the small camp toilet inside should not be used unless we discuss it.)
Garbage and recycling - garbage must be stored in the car overnight. The garbage can is wooden. Use bags in each and pack out the two bags when you head home. Replace bag is they run out.
Lights – Bring personal flashlights. Solar powered lights inside come on at dusk and another option is available in the kitchen. Both use a remote control. Large pillar candles need to be turned on, but also use a remote control
Boats – Use the key to unlock any boat that is available. Paddles are stored under the yurt and lifejackets and cushions are stored in the middle closet in a large bin inside. You should wear a lifejacket.
Swimming – Swimming is fun. Be safe and have a partner. When the dam is open upstream (left), the current can be very strong. Sandy areas can be found at the end of the coves, at the property line (see map).
Sheets, pillows, towels – Please bring your own linens.
Sweep and vacuum - Please sweep and hand vacuum carpets when you head home.
Door lock – When you head home and lock the door, you MAY have to lift up and out on the door handle and base to click the latch. Is it locked?
Neighbors – They are all friendly but they appreciates peace and quiet. Be respectful and quiet by 9 pm. Contact me if you have any issues and I can relay messages. No fireworks, parties, loud music, constant barking, etc.
Pets – Pets are welcome and dogs are often onsite. When pets travel with you, please put the couch covers on. They are stored under each couch.

🌲Tucked in the backwoods down a private dirt road, you will find four small cabins, one large main cabin and a bathhouse. You will have private access to half a mile of the Grasse River! On most days you can hear the sound of the river from camp! Bring your fly fishing or spinning reel rods, picnic or just relax on the shoreline! There is a huge field next to the cabins, a nearby pond and private trails to explore!
| THE CABINS |
Main Cabin: One larger cabin, consisting of a living room, full kitchen (dishwasher, stove, refrigerator, coffee maker, and toaster), laundry room with washer and dryer. Three bedrooms (2 king beds & 1 queen bed), two full bathrooms (one en-suite) with standup showers and one large bathtub. Two of the bedrooms have closets. The main cabin is not heated and space heaters will be provided during any colder months (Spring/Fall).
Mini Cabins: Four small log cabins spread out in a row, underneath a canopy of beautiful pine trees! The cabins are spaced far enough that there is enough privacy in-between each one. The cabins come equipped with power, WIFI, Roku TVs, refrigerators, microwaves, coffee makers, screened-in porches, AC units, ceiling fans and outdoor water hookups. They each comfortably sleep between 2-3 adults. Cabins are not heated. Space heaters are provided during colder months (Spring/Fall).

| THE BATHHOUSE |
Across from the four smaller cabins is a bathhouse, featuring men's and women's sides. Each side has two bathroom stalls, one stand up shower and double sinks.
| THE GRASSE RIVER |
The Grasse River is a 73 mile-long river, mainly flowing northeast from the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains into the St. Lawrence Valley. Stocked with brown trout, native brook trout, smallmouth bass and rock bass.
Follow the trails from the campground to the river, where you can picnic, fish and relax!
*Swimming is at guests’ own risk. The river’s current depends on the season or how much rain the area has received. While exploring the banks of the river you will find faster and slower areas.*
| THE POND |
There is a private trail which leads to a small pond. The pond is perfect for exploring by canoe or kayak. There are a few channels which lead to other trails on the property.
*Several other properties have access to the pond. However, we have yet to see anyone else using the pond - it is very quiet! The pond is not meant for swimming*
| THE TRAILS |
There are multiple private trails leading to the river, into the woods and the pond. If you enjoy being in nature, these trails are truly lovely to walk/run/bike and enjoy! They are also extremely wide and well-groomed. We have added Adirondack chairs at certain end points.

Weddings, large parties, events or commercial photography/filming need to be discussed and approved prior to booking. If not discussed, guests will be asked to leave without a refund. Proof of insurance is required for photography/filming and these events may require a separate rental agreement.
We are not allowing the use of ATVs/Side-by-Sides or snowmobiles on the property (field, trails, etc.). There are many local trails nearby that you can easily ride to.
The property can comfortably sleep 16 adults, maximum occupancy allowed is 25 guests at any time on the premises.
Please confirm how many adults, children and pets will be staying in your initial reservation message.
Basic cookware (coffee maker, toaster, pots and pans and silverware) provided in the main house. All small cabins have coffee makers/mugs.
Four complimentary sets of golf clubs are available to use to play at the local courses. In addition, four tennis rackets are provided.
Exterior security cameras (filming and recording) are on the property, facing main entrance points, main cabin driveway and field.
*Please note: There is a sixth cabin set further back towards the front of the property (#61), this cabin is not for use. There are also a few odd structures in the woods on the property. These include an old school bus, outhouse and small shed. They are not for use and are more permanent fixtures…

Come stay in our 1880s vintage summer cottage, built as a studio by a Keene Valley artist on a secluded and elevated spot in the center of the Adirondacks' High Peaks. It has a gorgeous view of Giant, Hopkins and Spread Eagle mountains. The summer cottage overlooks a cliff and is a few hundred yards from the nearest house, a classic Adirondack camp that shares its driveway but can't be seen. Even so, it is within walking distance of the village of Keene Valley,. Hikers love it because it's a 25-minute walk to The Garden, one of the largest and most popular trailheads in the Adirondacks that has very little parking.
The cottage has a huge covered porch (not screened) that looks out on the mountains and functions as an outdoor dining room with a view. The accommodations are rustic but comfortable: a bedroom with a double bed; a kitchen with a stove, refrigerator, microwave, toaster, and coffee maker; washer/dryer; a bathroom with a shower/bath; and a large sitting room with a stone fireplace and a futon that sleeps two. There is a one-room cabin nearby (also available for rent) with a screened porch that is perfect for sleeping in the summer.

Great find! We loved this enchanted cozy little cabin. The quiet setting and the accommodations were perfect for us. The rain barrel water was fun and we learned how much we could do with minimal water. A great learning lesson. The wood stove was wonderful and we had a great time on Jones Pond with the canoe. Overall, a great find!

This was such a pleasant surprise, and I would highly recommend this site to other campers. My group was Brett’s first booking, so there weren't any reviews. Brett was incredibly communicative. He's just starting to get this site up and running for Hipcamp, and his listing was detailed, clearly stating what he provides and what he doesn't, and he reiterated that in his messages. I had several questions, and he responded quickly. The site itself is wonderful. It's on a quiet, secluded road. There are neighbors, but it feels private. The yurt is pretty well stocked. If you want to travel light, you really only need to bring food, bed linens, and a camping stove. You're set aside from that. The yurt is spacious and cozy, with lots of room to sleep a few people. There's also room outside to pitch a tent, which I did. The river and canoe are a one-minute walk down the hill. We only stayed fir one night to go to the Wild Center, but I recommend booking at least 2-3 nights so you can take everything in on the site and in the area.

Weekend Trip to Mt Baker Tiny Cabin
We had the best experience at Sara & Matt’s cabin! My best friend and I tackled half of the Saranac Lake 6er. The cabin is the perfect location, both private and close to town while all being 20 minutes from each hike. We loved it all! Would highly recommend for those looking to stat in a rustic cabin with gorgeous views and all you need for a cozy getaway. It was perfection!

Weekend Trip to Magikal trails
Very funky trails filled with small trinkets. It was fun to explore the property! It’s clear that a lot of love has gone into the whole space!! The lean-to and outhouse were definitely DIY and felt sturdy but Les robust than I was expecting. The lean-to was cozy though and had a heavy curtain to keep out the majority of the bugs and also helped insulate the space a bit so we stayed warm overnight on a chilly fall evening. Sue was super accommodating and let us charge our phones on her screened-in porch. We would stay here again!

Weekend Trip to Karley's Cabin
Karley's Cabin was such a beautiful cabin! As the instructions will say, you will need to bring your own sheets, towels, and pillow covers; however, the views totally make up for it! It had all the basic amenities (coffee pot, microwave, toaster oven, regular oven, personal space heaters, pots and pans) that you could need! There are a few card games, and books to read there. There is also a wood stove for nights where it's extra chilly! When we were there, there was some wood ready for use, but there's also a bunch of firewood stands along the roads. The hardest part was finding the driveway! It's going to take you all the way down the road- don't listen! It's the first right and it's uphill. Glad we used to truck to get up there, but I'm sure a SUV would be nice! Overall, would recommend this cabin to those who need a nice, intimate get away!
