Please leave it as you found it. Clean, dry, and bundled up. Keys – Keys for the gate lock, yurt door and boat chains are kept on-site. Dome – The dome provides air flow and opens with an extendable rod with a hook that is kept inside, next to the front door. (Close it when you head home) Windows - Windows roll up w/ or w/out airflow, (see image). Use the step stool inside, behind the fireplace. Pay attention to the weather and close the plastic window if rain is in the forecast. Spot dry if you forget. Fire and fire pits – No flame near the yurt. Use the propane fireplace outside anytime and replace gas for the next person if empty. Wood fires happen at the waterfront In the fire ring (only) and need to be controlled, have the black bucket full w/water. DO NOT use the indoor fireplace or heaters. First aid; fire extinguisher – kept in the kitchen near the shelves/garbage. First aid kit is in a Patagonia satchel. (Call 9-1-1- in an emergency and please let me know if anything serious occur). Tupper Lake Health Center is 15 minutes away; 7 Stetson Rd #101, Tupper Lake, NY 12986 Cooking – Pest control is critical and begins with deterrence. Please only cook inside as necessary. Things that splatter (i.e. bacon must be cooked outside on top of the gas fire, carrying the stove/burner outside) Food – All food, including dog food must be stored in the car every night, or when away for an extended period. Again…deterrence. Drinking Water - Use Primeo 5-gallon water jugs for fresh water. A hand pump that attaches to those specific jugs is stored under the small kitchen table. Bathroom and wash up – Use the Nalgeen jug and soap at the small red table outside the porto-john to wash up. Consider filling it with river water to save money and time. (in most cases the small camp toilet inside should not be used unless we discuss it.) Garbage and recycling - garbage must be stored in the car overnight. The garbage can is wooden. Use bags in each and pack out the two bags when you head home. Replace bag is they run out. Lights – Bring personal flashlights. Solar powered lights inside come on at dusk and another option is available in the kitchen. Both use a remote control. Large pillar candles need to be turned on, but also use a remote control Boats – Use the key to unlock any boat that is available. Paddles are stored under the yurt and lifejackets and cushions are stored in the middle closet in a large bin inside. You should wear a lifejacket. Swimming – Swimming is fun. Be safe and have a partner. When the dam is open upstream (left), the current can be very strong. Sandy areas can be found at the end of the coves, at the property line (see map). Sheets, pillows, towels – Please bring your own linens. Sweep and vacuum - Please sweep and hand vacuum carpets when you head home. Door lock – When you head home and lock the door, you MAY have to lift up and out on the door handle and base to click the latch. Is it locked? Neighbors – They are all friendly but they appreciates peace and quiet. Be respectful and quiet by 9 pm. Contact me if you have any issues and I can relay messages. No fireworks, parties, loud music, constant barking, etc. Pets – Pets are welcome and dogs are often onsite. When pets travel with you, please put the couch covers on. They are stored under each couch. Trail Cameras – I have two trail cameras, see locations in images) THINGS TO DO Wild Center – in Tupper Lake is a fantastic natural exploration for young and young at heart The Adirondack Experience in Blue Mountain Lake (south) Shopping; Antiquing – explore the Tupper, Saranac and Lake Placid Tupper Lake movie theater (the only one in nearby) The Woodshed (speakeasy, Edgar Allan Poe style, resv. req.) Racquette River Brewing Fort Ticonderoga – On the Vermont boarder Hike the High Peaks – be prepared Fire Tower – Mt. Arab overlooks Piercefield Flow, a moderate hike with spectacular views just 5 minuets away Saranac indoor carousel Go outside.
