Your camping can be as private, quiet and leisurely as you wish. The views and big sky are gorgeous in our corner of farm country. Our small pond (tho not suitable for fishing or swimming) provides entertainment w/ turtle sunbathing raft and lots of nature's visitors. Pets always welcome off-leash with your guidance. About the Trials Riding: We host 6 Mototrial events each season (see below) and if spectating appeals, you can plan your trip to coincide. You're in for a treat if you've never seen these nimble motorcycles do their 'thing'... up, over, and around the obstacles. Events are busy and exciting, but no worries (!) trials bikes are not loud. Riders are friendly and considerate. If spectating is not your thing- no worries either. Non-event days are very laid back. On any given day if Trials riders come here for practice (or instruction with Mike) it's not loud or invasive, nor interferes with any camper training or play on the course. When riders are here (barring events), it's typically only 2-4 riders at a time. Multiple activities co-exist quite nicely here as there is plenty of room for all. There are many days no one is on the course at all (!) and you may have it all to yourself or possibly with another camper. Hope to see you in our slice of heaven! Oh, and did I mention the world class fishing? Co-owner, Valerie, is a permaculturist and welcomes conversation about anything environmental. The flattest part of the hill was once under cultivation but since 2010 has been allowed to revert to woodlands. I farm trees, the only animals here will be the ones that Nature sends (or if you bring a pet). Fruit and nut trees have been planted, as well as some berries, so since 2010 they are not very large. My trees are very important. Please take care not to injure them. Seasoned firewood is plentiful from the prunings as well as from deadfall and extra can be purchased at the farm - $6. per bundle. (Per New York State DEC regulation, untreated firewood may not be moved over 50 miles.) There is a working rocket mass heater in the barn and it will be fired up and roaring between October and April. Knitting and crocheting lessons are yours for the asking. Co-owner, William, may also be persuaded to show you some guitar licks. Children 12 and under are discounted 50% off. Children under 2 are free. At the edges of the property you can see neighbors' houses but campsites are secluded from the neighbors as well as from each other. All campsites are drive in but you may be driving across a mown field. Sterling Nature Center (Great Blue Heron rookery!) and Sterling Renaissance Festival are each 4 miles away. Gas station and farm store (Ontario Orchards -- great home-baked pies there!) are each 3 miles away. Sterling Creek Canoe- Kayak Launch - 3.5 miles. Fair Haven Beach State Park and Little Sodus Bay - 7.5 miles. City of Oswego and NY State University - 6 miles. And, if you are of that persuasion, the nearest McDonald's and Subway are 7 miles and Walmart is 10 miles away. Because I could be anywhere on the property and I would like to be available when you arrive, please advise me if you know you will be arriving after 5 PM. All revenue from camping goes back into the property to continue to improve your experience. While we are open to winter camping, the farm road is on a hill that must be navigated to reach the campsites. In snowy or icy (or extremely muddy) conditions this may prove impossible for a typical vehicle and even give some 4-wheel or all-wheel drive vehicles some trouble. There is room at the bottom of the hill for off road parking for one vehicle. It would then require hiking up about 500 feet to reach campsites. Also, when the weather is dropping below freezing (which could be between late October -- early May), you are advised to bring your own water as water left overnight will freeze. Please take responsibility for the energy you bring to this space. Campfires are encouraged but bonfires are not allowed. If you are unsure, just ask. This is also a 'leave nothing but footprints' campsite. We do not have trash removal. Lodi Point State Park is also 5 miles away with public access to Seneca lake. Lodi Point features a boat launch, nice playgrounds and swimming areas. As we are located in beautiful Fingerlakes, you can also find many other state parks including Sampson, Watkins Glen, Hector and Taughannock, all within a short drive. This is your on stop spot for motorcycle Trials. Mike and Laurel have made a welcoming spot on the hillside for RV's. Easy access to parking from the road. They provided us with a nice welcome packet. That had plenty of information about the area. Places to eat or see. Most people who camp here will be coming for riding. Mike offers lessons as well. But it would a nice spot for anyone looking for a getaway. Don't be put off by the riding. This is not a motocross track. You might be amazed at seeing riders tackling the obstacles and trials bikes are quiet. You might even want to try it yourself? Looking forward to a summer stay. Thanks.

A perfectly pleasant stay! Kate was very responsive and even gave us a suggestion of a good place to eat. Tabora’s was yummy! We chose the spot on the property closest to the lake so we could have the view. It was level, super quiet and peaceful. We even had two whitetail deer run past our rig one afternoon. At night we could hear cars at the Watkins Glen racetrack in the distance, which was super cool. Only about 10 minutes from the town of Watkins Glen, it was super convenient. During part of our stay, the local police department used the property to train its K-9 division, which was intriguing to watch. (It would have been nice to have been notified that this was a training rather than a man hunt, though. We were a bit nervous until we figured it out.) :) Overall, it was a great stay and we would definitely recommend!
