Spring, Summer and Fall are the best times to come for a visit. NOW is the time to book your experience with us. Enjoy rustic camping on our 115 acres of upstate NY forest. We are just a short drive to Cooperstown, the Baseball Hall of Fame and the summer baseball camps as well as the other museums that it has to offer. Howe Caverns in Cobleskill is also about 30 minutes away as well.
The property consists of a mixture of upland hardwoods (mainly Oak, Maple and Cherry) with scattered stands of Red Pine, White Spruce, Hemlock and two open fields/pastures. There are also the occasional conifers scattered about just to keep things interesting. The majority of the property is gently sloping from the South up towards the North. The is also a nice ridge on the NE corner of the property to aid in topographic diversity. One of the fields is a seven acre hay field and the other is a five acre food plot planted in clover, chicory and other grasses. This field has also been recently planted with Apples, Pear, American Plum, Red Osier Dogwood, Persimmon, Red Mulberry, Chinese Chestnut, and Hazelnuts. These are all young at this time but will start to provide diversity and wildlife interest in the coming years.
Wildlife abounds here at the homestead. Whitetail Deer and Eastern Wild Turkey are very common to see. We also have a variety of small animals as well such as Red and Grey Squirrels, Raccoons, Porcupine, Opossum, Fisher etc. For the birders, we have Barred and Great Horned Owls and Red Tailed Hawks. It is also not uncommon to see Bald Eagles soaring over the fields looking for their next meal.
All of the property is easily accessible via our extensive trail system. There is also another 187 acres that borders our land that also has trails that would allow hiking. We have detailed maps so that getting lost would be the least of your worries.

Our farm is just 6 miles from the village, Bovina Center. Bovina Center is close to Roxbury, Margaretville, Andes, Delhi, Stamford, and Hobart all great places to explore for galleries, bookstores, restaurants, antiques, happenings, fairs and festivals. In Bovina Center we have a destination restaurant, Brushland, a general store, Russels, a new local brewery, Bovina Farm and Fermentory.
There is hiking right from our town, on Bramley Mountain that's 2,812 feet. The elevation at Meanwhile Back At The Farm is 2030 feet. We have a very nice walk right from the tent sites, on our dirt road. Its a 3 mile loop. If you want to bicycle on the dirt road, a mountain bike is recommended.
Of course you are welcome to stay put! Sit, read, meditate, sleep, do yoga or other mind/body practices on our open-air yoga platform, Nandi Yoga Pavilion. It was a cinderblock extension of the cow barn. We took it down and used the foundation for the pavilion.

Loved it here! I camped in the woods and Todd was so hospitable. It has just rained and the forest was lush with mushrooms of every color. An evening hike was a highlight, and I appreciated the water jug, table, and fire ring. There’s even a clean, enclosed composting outhouse a few steps away. Highly recommend!

Our family had an amazing stay at Bearkill. The site completely exceeded our expectations. We were looking for a quiet, private campsite to enjoy with our young kids and this spot was perfect. There is tons of open space to spread out tents with complete privacy, along with a super cozy cabin. The other amenities like a grill and a shower with hot water really made camping with kids more enjoyable. The kids really enjoyed the creek and toys Peggy and David provided. Really great site, really great hosts.

I was camping in my car along the edge of the woods (Site 2) for 4 days and enjoyed the visits from the horses - magical and memorable! It was truly a one-of-a-kind experience and Lisa and Ed were helpful and welcoming.
It was exactly the horse hangout experience I was hoping for. I found it worked great to simply time my cooking, working, or other “getting stuff out” activities for when the horses were on the far end of the pasture, and putting things away in my car when the horses started grazing closer. Then once they were close, I could fully focus on visiting with them (and saying “no” to anyone tugging on my mesh window screens, which did the trick).
Keep in mind that the horses will investigate anything they can reach when the herd drifts your way 2-3 times a day (which may include licking, nibbling, pushing, etc. of your stuff), so don’t leave anything out that they could damage or that would not be safe for them to eat. As Lisa said, they’re like large toddlers! The horses were always quite friendly and pleasant to me but had the occasional horse drama where they chased each other, so just heed the hosts’ advice to not be in the middle of the herd.
With that in mind, you can enjoy meeting the horses (and foals!!), exploring the woods and pasture, building a fire under starry skies, trying farm fresh eggs and maple syrup, and everything the farm has to offer!

We had a wonderful stay at the Meadow Campsite at Scared Waterfall. The campsite was very private with beautiful mountain views, and the waterfall was the highlight of our trip. It’s about a 10–15 minute walk with one short steep section that’s well worth it. If you plan to explore the waterfall, I’d recommend bringing water shoes or sturdy footwear since the rocks can be slippery.
The community barn silo was a nice bonus with thoughtful amenities and local recommendations. The campsite is close to the main road, so you may occasionally hear trucks, along with some dogs barking or people talking in the evening, but it didn’t take away from our experience.
The host was very responsive and helpful when we had a question, and we’d happily stay here again. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a peaceful, scenic getaway.

Weekend Trip to Coyote Hollow Park
We had a wonderful stay at Coyote Hollow Site 2! Even though it rained most of the weekend, the glamping tent kept us warm and dry. The hosts were incredibly friendly and had thought of every detail to make our stay comfortable.
The site was quiet, clean, and peaceful. Breakfast offered a great variety, and we loved the free-roaming chickens and ducks. We’d happily stay here again and highly recommend it!

The community barn was such a cool add-on to the experience and was super useful. I loved how secluded the campsite was from the rest of the area. The tent and site were perfect! Even better than advertised. The location is amazing-- so close to town but very private and quiet. The tent was spacious and the mattress was comfortable. A small cupboard outside contained a few necessary items we forgot-- namely bug spray and a lighter for the campfire. I intend to stay here again in the future.

We had a great stay here! The property was peaceful and quiet, with beautiful starry nights. The site had everything we needed..full hookups, a picnic table, and a fire pit with chairs. It felt private and secluded while still being just a short drive from town.
James was a fantastic host. He made sure we had everything we needed, and when we ran into an issue with our RV, he went above and beyond to help us. We really appreciated his kindness and hospitality.
We definitely recommend this site! The only thing to note is that the exit is fairly steep. We have a 31-foot travel trailer and tow with a Toyota Tundra, and it was a bit tight getting out, so larger rigs may want to keep that in mind.

Weekend Trip to Bearkill Brook Campsite
We typically would not spend this much to camp but, since we (2adults & 2 dogs) only had 2 nights, we really did not want to bring all of our camping gear. Well, I must say it was worth every dollar and we really wish we had more time to stay and play. We may have been a bit spoiled with all of the amenities, not to mention, the space and all of the fun outdoor games provided. Our 2 dogs had as much fun as we did… maybe more. It was like we had our own private campground with facilities ALL TO OURSELVES. The mix of sun (big open field) and shade was perfect. The creek along the camp was fun and fantastic for hiking and frolicking. Star gazing was amazing in the big field with a masterfully made fire pit. We applaud David’s craftsmanship on the cabin, as well as the bathhouse and other structures. This is definitely the perfect spot for first time campers, especially with kids and pets. Peggy and David were outstanding hosts and we were quite grateful they were just up the road, as we needed a jump start upon our departure. We certainly hope to be back for an extended stay with more people.

Weekend Trip to Andes Off-Grid Glamping Cabin
We loved our stay at Alessandro’s cabin! It was cozy, cleverly designed, and full of thoughtful, creative touches - including lots of smart, sustainable details that made the whole place feel especially intentional. The outdoor patio was a major highlight for cooking and dining, and their local recommendations led us to some of our favorite stops. With no cell signal, we got the full off-grid experience in the best possible way. Between the firepit, frogs, birdsong, and starry nights, it was the perfect reset - and Alessandro and Sarah were such warm, thoughtful hosts that made the stay feel extra special.
