The cabin is located in a remote area of Bear Swamp State Forest. It is about 5 miles from the nearest paved road but has seasonal roads that take you to the cabin. There are many close attractions like Skaneateles Lake and Carpenters Falls. The Cabin doesn’t have electricity or water but we do have a generator available. We do not have a shower or bathroom but we have an outhouse. We do ask people to bring their own gas if you want to run the generator and woods to make a fire. I highly recommend 4x4 vehicles but I been there in a civic and a mini van.

Please be patient with us. We have one other listing on the land so there may be times you do see other guests. We have a home under construction on the property so we also may be there at times. This site gives you a quiet wooded area to camp for the night or two with a porta potty for luxury camping. This site allows you to have a quiet place to camp without a lot of people and kid free. Most campgrounds have children but Stars and Sage does not allow children. Please feel free to bring your own camping needs as we only provide a fire area. The site is approximately 19 feet by 39 feet in dimension. You will be close to Mexico village and about 20 minutes from the city of Oswego. Plenty of biking areas all around . Enjoy a hike in the trail or take a short trip to Mexico point to put your Canoe or kayaks in to enjoy Lake Ontario. Lake Ontario is well known for fishing. You may see deer, Fox, muskrat, etc. you may hear coyotes in the distance. A flash light and a hatchet and bug spray are definitely recommended to have on hand.

Camp Whitman is in a majestic location on Seneca Lake. The camp is so peaceful and restful. Just being there restores your soul. I think I could spend many nights camping there. The cabin is really unique and has everything you need to feel right at home.

Staying at Camp Whitman was very positive - for both myself & my 84 yr old mother.
Heron Cabin was rustic but updated with a modern bathroom & functional mini- kitchen.
Beds were surprisingly comfortable. Please note
Camp counselors are around during the summer weekends. The camp does run traditional camps for kids during the week. So if you’re looking for isolation- this isn’t it. But everyone was extremely friendly & non- intrusive. We had a wonderful time!
