Sweeping pastoral hillsides mixed with densely wooded private acres make our camps unique, each one offering a different experience. A developed network of our own marked trails for exploring, our private red slate swimming quarry with docks and seating, and catch release fishing at 2 ponds are a few things to enjoy here. Slate Valley Trails and Merck Forest are close by. Places to picnic, enjoy the sunset, and idle are a plenty. Our farm stand is stocked with seasonal produce, jams, eggs, and bagged ice. Spring water is available. Excellent locally burgers, steaks, chicken and more are available as pre-order EXTRAS.

My family (7 year old daughter, husband and dog) had the most wonderful time tent camping at the Hops site on Heather and Paul's beautiful farm. It's such a special, expansive place with so many cool spots to hike to within the farm that we didn't feel like we needed to leave the property. We loved the peace and privacy of the Hops site but next time we'd like to try to Oak tree site which has stunning views. My daughter loved drinking directly from the spring behind Heather's house, and visiting the pergola near dusk. The highland cows against the backdrop of rolling hills and the beautiful slate structures look like paintings. I'd definitely recommend taking the tour of the property to orient yourself. Heather is a lovely person and a knowledgeable and engaging host.

This campground is easy to park with a convenient bathroom and showers that are fairly clean. Toilets were cleaned both mornings. The last shower stall is large enough to get clothes away from shower area. The shower heads are intelligently placed facing toward the back wall and there was plenty of hot water. The washer and dryer are reasonably priced. We were there late in the season and they were doing some work with chain saws. Perhaps in preparation for the next season. Absolutely no managerial people spoke to us and the office was closed when we arrived. We just went to our reserved site.

We had a fantastic time here. The property is sprawling and beautiful, and the Hops site had great amenities—ample firewood on request, a great firepit and chairs, and a clean outhouse. Heather was an excellent host, ensuring we had everything we might need for our stay. Highly recommended!

Heather provided us with the perfect getaway weekend! Her farm is so beautiful and she is a wonderful hostess! The Hops site was very private and peaceful. The outdoor seating and firepit made it so easy to relax and enjoy the fall evenings. The hiking trails that they have made are great to explore. We also took advantage of the outdoor shower which was such a nice experience. Even the outhouse was comfortable and meticulously maintained, and this is coming from someone who normally tries to avoid them. Last and certainly not least, we are still enjoying some of the home-grown/homemade treats from her farm stand, and cannot wait to return to Slateville. Thank you to Heather and Paul for such a great weekend!

Very cool spot. Do be advised that they have weddings and events until 10:00 pm, so there is a bit of noise and music, but nothing too disturbing. Very friendly welcome, free firewood. I got to pitch my tent on a well built platform, which helped reduce the September chill.

Highly recommend Lake Lauderdale Campground!
The owner was so kind - he even waited for us when we arrived late to make sure we knew where to park and to answer any questions.
The place is magical, quiet, and absolutely beautiful. Waking up to that view in the morning was such a treat!
Of course, there are full hookups (electricity, water, and dump).
We had an amazing experience here and truly hope to come back in the future!

This was my second visit to Heather's farm and I look forward to returning again. The property is gorgeous. The sites are very large, private, and far enough apart that you will not see or hear other campers. My dog and I loved being able to walk all the roads and trails that criss-cross the property right from our campsite. On my first visit I was there in October and the fall foliage was just incredible. The farm is close enough to town so that everything you could need is within easy reach, but far enough to feel quiet and remote. I am already looking forward to our next visit!

It was my first time camping alone. And I’m so glad I chose Matthew’s land to do it on. I love that my space was surrounded by trees and I was very close to the porta potty. The space I was at had a wooden deck to put my tent on which I loved. Firewood was sold at a great price for the amount of wood you got. Great space to hang your hammock and read a good book. If I’m ever in the area again I’ll definitely stay here!

The camping at Rustic Barn Campground was incredibly peaceful and the grounds were beautiful. Located in such a nice area, close to many attractions and places to explore on foot or bike, but also enjoyable if all you wanted was a weekend away from the hustle and bustle.

We absolutely loved staying at the new quarry site!! The farm is HUGE and the property itself is beautiful. The campsite was very well maintained and the new quarry site is only a few steps away from the swimming hole (which was way better than you’re imagining, if that’s even possible). We had a few first-time campers with us and the new quarry site was perfect (surrounded by trees but the site itself is an open clearing).
The farm stand had lots of vegetables from Heather’s garden and other necessities for rent/purchase, and Heather was very nice and super accommodating - she even let us stay later after checkout on our last day!!
This campsite had everything we were looking for, and it was a short drive from many good hiking spots. We definitely recommend and hope to be back in the future!!

We had the most incredible weekend at this Hipcamp. The site was absolutely stunning—private, peaceful, and surrounded by nature. The owner should be so proud of the space she’s created—she was beyond accommodating and made us feel right at home. We loved visiting her farm stand for some fresh, local goodies. The best part, though, was the quarry swimming hole—it was the perfect place to relax and unwind. We spent our nights watching movies under the stars and enjoying food by the fire pit. It was exactly the escape we needed, and we’ll definitely be back!

This was absolutely the best experience! Heather met us upon arrival and showed us the lay of the land. She was so kind! The Ridgeline vista site was absolutely amazing. We camped with friends and young kids and everyone had enough room to spread out and the kids had plenty of room to run around and be as loud as they wanted! The views were absolutely incredible and the added bonus of the covered pavilion with the Adirondack chairs and boat deck overlooking the countryside was awesome. We swam in the quarry (short walk from the campsite) and it was so much fun. The kids loved it and there were kayaks to use and explore the small quarry. The water was very refreshing and we were surrounded by fish! We sincerely hope to return sooner than later! Oh and I would highly recommend getting the farm fresh eggs and burgers. The eggs were still warm when we got them and the burgers were so so so delicious!! Thank you Heather!
