Each tree is beautiful in its own way, but perhaps no trunk is better for squeezing than those in the 200-year old white pine grove in the Whittemore Recreation Area of the Peoples Forest.
One can only hug so many trees, however, so it’s a good thing there are lots of other things to do in the American Legion and Peoples State Forests. The trails that wind through these wooded acres will keep hikers on their feet for days on end. And the waters of the wild and scenic West Branch of the Farmington River attracts kayakers and fishers from all over Connecticut and even neighboring states. We had a wonderful time camping here! The host, Mike, was very friendly and welcoming. We especially loved his dogs – they were so sweet, stayed with us throughout our stay, and even guided us back to our site at night when the road was hard to see. The amenities were great and everything we needed was provided, including firewood, chairs, and a grill. The only thing to note is that we went during Labor Day weekend, so the site was quite packed and there was only one bathroom available. Other than that, everything was good, private, and we would definitely recommend this place!

Only 1 word needed to explain Mike's land and hospitality....Amazing. The place is beautiful and well kept. Big plus that nothing is far away. There's shops, fishing, trails and more nearby while still being deep in nature when in your site. Mike was very welcoming and offered help if ever needed and that was really appreciated. He got 2 beautiful dogs and chickens free roaming at the entrance of his property so make sure to keep ur dogo on leash until you get to your spot, then after that let your dog loose to enjoy leashless activities. My dogo loved the freedom and had enough space to enjoy himself even though he's not so friendly with other dogs. There was still enough space between camp sites that I wasnt that worry about letting him free from time to time. I went on a Thursday and stayed all the way up till sunday and it was definitely worth it. Would recommend Mike and his property to anyone looking for a great place to unwind and escape the noise and big crowds of NYC. Love the place and will definitely come back with a couple of friends next time or if not just me and my dogo again. 5 stars and thank you Mike for being such a great host.

Great site, everything you need including multiple benches around fire ring, Adirondack chairs, bbq even! Mike was super helpful with everything. We had the drive up site which we liked. There are deeper walk-in sites that may be even more remote and quiet, but this fit our needs. Oh and donation-based firewood!

Loved the site. We reserved the Main meadow side which was more than enough for a party of 11 plus 2 dogs. Mike aided with his small tractor to transport our camping equipments to the site since it was a slight walk to the site. Firewood on the site was a huge plus and the bathroom as well.

Such an amazing camp! Six sites to choose from, varying in distance from the indoor bathroom. Unlimited firewood, friendly pups, and brilliant nature. Mike was friendly and accommodating. Each site has a fire pit, chairs, tables, picnic table, and a charcoal grill. Only downside was having to carry all of our things to the site (we had a lot of things) but Mike said he's working on a drive in site. Would highly recommend!

We loved our weekend in the Catskills! No one else was camping the weekend we went, so we had the pick of the campsites and we loved our site. The land is close to town which was so convenient when it was colder at night than expected and we needed to buy a heavier sleeping bag. It was gloomy and rainy a lot of the weekend, so we didn’t get to use the campfire at the site but Mike supplies firewood which would have been awesome if we could have got a fire going. Awesome and private campsites, plus our dog loved exploring and meeting Mike’s very sweet border collies.

We loved tent camping at Blue Wind Nature Camp. Mikes a great host! We chose the further campsite with a clearing surrounded by trees. Beautiful site to wake up in. The indoor shower, toilet and sink was amazing! Highly recommend. Oh! And my 3 boys adored the cats and pups and I loved the chickens.

This was my second time staying at Blue Wind with a large group of friends and we loved it! We got hit with some pretty rainy/muddy weather and still had a great time. Mike provided lots of free firewood and made an effort to keep it dry for us. He was very accommodating and the indoor restroom/hot shower was especially appreciated during the rain. The campsite itself was very private but nearby great stores and hikes.

This farm is a beautiful and special place. It is so lovely to be among the orchard and in the dynamic of the farm, animals and land. The set up of the tiny house, our tent and fire pit was perfect. We enjoyed nearby hikes and canoeing. Sad to leave- can't wait to.come back.
