Originally built in the 1920's for early visitors, the Rustic Log Cabins are one of the oldest lodging establishments in the area. Built of whole pine logs all four are spacious one-room cabins with electricity, hardwood floors and stone fireplaces. The cabins are equipped with table, chairs, comfortable beds, dressers, stove and fridge. Two of the cabins will accommodate three persons and the other two will accommodate up to 6 people. A Bath House in the center of the campsite is convenient to all four cabins and contains a separate mens and women section with showers, toilets and sinks. Guests are encouraged to provide their own towels and bed linens to avoid per bed linen fee. The Rustic Log Cabins are located on the east side of Seneca Lake on Route 414 in the town of Hector. We are central to the Finger Lakes National Forest, wineries & breweries, Watkins Glen State Park and also the towns of Corning, Geneva, Ithaca, Seneca Falls and Hammondsport NY. There is approximately 10 miles of professionally groomed, maintained trails for guests to share for recreational purposes. The trails are marked and 10-15' wide. They range in difficulty. The southern section of the property ascends abruptly from 2050'-2250'. The northern range is less abrupt. It has been my passion & a genuine labor of love to keep this environment as pristine as possible. My ultimate goal is to be able to provide a place for man to be nurtured, where nature & wildlife will thrive, always striving to keep the environment as pristine & serene as possible. This is an awesome cabin, and Amber is an excellent host! Amber was VERY responsive from the first moment and all through our stay. She made sure everything was right and we had what we needed. She went above and beyond, even making sure that the Wagyu steaks she left for us would be thawed by the appropriate time! She has outfitted the cabin very thoughtfully and comfortably. It was clean and new - no webs or dirt here. The screened in porch has a gas grill and grill utensils. The cabin and the porch are well lit and there is a nice cozy propane heater inside. There is a nightstand with a cute lamp and 2 comfy real beds fully outfitted with bedding (and extra blankets!). There are many well-considered details including a lighter, wine bottle opener, oven mitts, metal roasting sticks for toasting marshmallows and hot dogs (can grill multiple at the same time), a small assortment of chips and some bottled water, paper plates and paper towels, a fire extinguisher, coathooks ..... everything you might need. Lots of extra chairs and a table to put wherever. The cabin locks for security, if you decide to leave. The port a potty is the cleanest one you will ever see and it even has a light for night. The outdoor heated shower is also very nice. Great fields adjacent for walking and enjoying the great scenery and Seneca Lake. So there's no water... you'll live. Get one of those water canisters with the spout and you'll be fine.

My wife and I loved the land and the cabin. The host was amazingly hospitable and gave us a tour alongside giving us suggestions on the surrounding areas. The free firewood was a nice touch too! If you want quiet while still being close to something to do this is the place! But if you want quiet with nothing to do, this is also the place. My wife also loved the horses, which you can interact with. We will definitely be recommending this to others!

We had a great stay - the cabins are centrally located for most hikes, only 30 mins from Ithaca 40 mins from Corning. The cabin was spacious, had very comfortable beds, fans and other helpful amenities. The bathrooms are quite nice too. Jackie was a good host, met us at the start and even lent us a few of her own kitchen supplies so we could make eggs and breakfast. Know that you should bring your own grill and cooking supplies, and chairs for around the fire if you want. It’s right off a somewhat busy road and you can hear car’s, but we slept well. We would definitely return.

Amber’s cabin is peaceful, comfortable, clean, and thoughtful. There were small helpful and considerate perks throughout the space, like motion sensor lights, matches, and potholders! The landscape is gorgeous, quiet, and it’s close to Watkins Glen State Park. I stayed with my family of 4 and our dog for 2 nights, and we cannot wait to return! It felt like a home away from home.
