The camp site is completely private, with only party rented to at a time. It is in the center of a 40-acre parcel, surrounded by thousands of acres of National Lakeshore and private forested land. Access is off of a rough seasonal two-track but most 2-wheel drive cars are fine. Watch out for rocks. There are solar lights, a pit toilet, a fire ring, and a ~8x8' deck. There is room for 4 cars, and as many tents as you can set up. We have 4 rules: 1) Leave no trace. Do not leave garbage at camp. DO NOT BURN garbage, people cook in that pit. 2) NO cutting into the live trees. You will get a 0-star review, 100% of the time. 3) Keep cars on the gravel driveway. 4) Put out all fires completely (COLD) and respect any Burn Bans that may be active at the time of your stay. We have a designated area for camping that includes a fire pit, ground level metal deck, and a comfortable outhouse. There is no power or running water. Experience camping for real! (fun fact: this property has been passed down four generations of women!) We are near downtown Manton, downtown Mesick, and downtown Cadillac. Our favorite places to visit are Dayhuff lake (10 minute drive), numerous seasonal roads and trails, the Manistee River, Traverse City (45mins), Emerald Vale Golf Course (10 minutes), and Pleasant Valley Amish market for baked goods (5 min). Notes based on feedback that we've gotten from campers: -the driveway is steep, as seen in the listing photos. The recommendation for trailer size should be followed (18ft trailer max, plus 17ft car/truck). There is a corner at the top of the hill that might be tight for anything larger. I will note that there is a review where someone made it through with a 21ft trailer plus their vehicle; proceed as you will with this information.

Close proximity to Elk Rapids, Alden, Williamsburg, and Traverse City and all those areas have to offer. We have water fill and a dump station on site, and we are working on electrical hook ups. Our property has many open areas to park, some very level, some not. We have woods and a large hill area with lots of birds and wildlife to see. We can accommodate large rigs, small rigs, and all in between. Pets are welcome but must be leashed as we have two of our own dogs. If you have any questions or needs, do not hesitate to ask, we will always try to accommodate. This site is accessible by a gravel driveway that leads to secluded land perfect for your camping getaway. There is tree cover, but also open areas. We have a designated area for camping that includes a fire pit, ground level metal deck, and a comfortable outhouse. There is no power or running water. Experience camping for real! (fun fact: this property has been passed down four generations of women!) We are near downtown Manton, downtown Mesick, and downtown Cadillac. Our favorite places to visit are Dayhuff lake (10 minute drive), numerous seasonal roads and trails, the Manistee River, Traverse City (45mins), Emerald Vale Golf Course (10 minutes), and Pleasant Valley Amish market for baked goods (5 min). Notes based on feedback that we've gotten from campers: -the driveway is steep, as seen in the listing photos. The recommendation for trailer size should be followed (18ft trailer max, plus 17ft car/truck). There is a corner at the top of the hill that might be tight for anything larger. We have 11 acres, currently with a really ugly old farm home on site that is a rehab in progress, but a beautiful property. We are located a few miles from Torch Lake and walking distance to a public access on Elk lake. Close proximity to Elk Rapids, Alden, Williamsburg, and Traverse City and all those areas have to offer. We have water fill and a dump station on site, and we are working on electrical hook ups. Our property has many open areas to park, some very level, some not. We have woods and a large hill area with lots of birds and wildlife to see. We can accommodate large rigs, small rigs, and all in between. Pets are welcome but must be leashed as we have two of our own dogs. If you have any questions or needs, do not hesitate to ask, we will always try to accommodate. We had a fantastic stay at Site 1 – Elm Valley (hosted by Jayne). From the moment we arrived, Jayne greeted us warmly, offered firewood, and helped guide our 22-ft travel trailer into the perfect spot. The site was level, flat, with water & electric hookups—just what we needed. We were among the last campers of the season and feel grateful we were able to secure such a great location. The location was very convenient—several wineries were just a short drive away—making it easy to explore when time permitted. We were in town for the Iceman Cometh Challenge mountain bike race and enjoyed chatting with Jayne about the event and her family/friends who’ve done it. Upon departure, her husband stopped by to ensure everything was good—it wrapped up the stay perfectly. Jayne is exactly the kind of host you hope for: friendly, attentive but unobtrusive. We’ll absolutely plan to return—maybe next summer to make fuller use of those nearby wineries. Highly recommended.

Randy's spot on the Betsie River was truly perfect. It was a great, quiet place in the woods with plenty of open space for a camper, tent, and yard games. We really appreciated that the open space was grass and not sand or dirt like many camp spots end up being. Randy was incredibly helpful when a small problem came up and took the time to make sure everything was 100% perfect. We would highly recommend this space and would love to come back next year.
