We are dog friendly, but all pets must be on a leash at all times, to respect other campers.
With the maps provided, feel free to walk our cut trails that wind throughout the property. Enjoy the serenity of our rippling creek, and watch for wildlife such as grouse, deer, bear, bobcat, elk, and more!
We do raise pheasants for release, so don't be shocked if you spook one up on the trail!
You can also hit the public trails next door on State Land and walk for miles and miles.
We are only 4.4 miles to and from I75, with easy access to Gaylord, Petoskey, Mackinac, and just down the road from downtown Wolverine and Indian River.

Jasper Moss is a glamping retreat experience located on the remote Bois Blanc Island, Michigan, where you can unplug, rest, retreat and rejuvenate while surrounded by untouched nature. The venue consists of three yurts, an outdoor shower, sink and toilet, and fully screened outdoor kitchen. It is located across the gravel road from Lake Huron, next to a public nature preserve and a 5-minute walk from one of just two restaurants on the island.
The blue and turquoise yurts each have a full-sized bed, a small table and two chairs. The red yurt has two twin beds. There is basic electric access for a bedside light, fan, and charging of electronics as needed. The outdoor kitchen is fully screened in, and offers basic amenities for communal use, such as a refrigerator, grill, gas burner and griddle, toaster oven, coffee maker, and basic utensils, dishes, pots, and pans. Revelers will live comfortably close to the Earth and immersed in the diversity of flora, fauna, and geology.
Onsite is a separate art studio where we paint, turn wood, and do lapidary art.

1) You must take a ferry to the island, via Plaunt Transportation, which leaves out of Cheboygan, Michigan

What an excellent campsite! We so enjoyed our two nights here. Nice level, grassy area with electrical hookup, picnic table, garbage can, fire pit, and firewood provided. Cathy texted us en route, giving extra directions, met us upon arrival mowing the site, and was friendly and helpful. There are other summer homes and cottages nearby on the lane, but we barely saw or heard any neighbors in our time here. Quiet, peaceful, surrounded by pine trees on 3 sides, birds chirping, and the waves lapping the rocky shore about 30 meters away through a wooded path directly on site. You can watch the sunrise over Lake Huron through the trees. We walked quite a ways down the beach looking for fossil rocks (there are tons). About a half mile south on the highway is Huron Dunes Roadside Park with a public marina, outhouses, picnic tables, and another long, walkable beach with a great sandy area for swimming. We had it to ourselves until around noon when a few other groups showed up. Our dog (pit terrier) was able to enjoy the site with us. We only heard a few other dogs bark far away down the beach. What a gem! Would definitely recommend this site!! Thank you Cathy!

It was really nice camping on Linda’s land. She has lots of seating near the creek, and even has a couple of hammocks. It’s a nice location close to all that Alpena has to offer. Linda and her daughter were very nice, and I enjoyed seeing their three dogs. Linda was also very accommodating. She just wants your stay there to be the best it can be!

Cathy has a lovely campsite on the shore of Lake Huron. There are neighbors nearby but the only real noise came from their dog. They would shut him in their pole barn when they'd leave and the poor baby would whine and cry. It was a treat for us to have electricity as that was a first for us. The beach is very nice and of course, the view is fantastic. This site may be more expensive than others but consider how much you would spend for a waterfront hotel room. Splurge on yourself and rent this campsite. You won't regret it.

Very cool little place. Quiet and peaceful spot overall. My experience personally wasn't great though, there was a loud group there when I went, who didn't quiet down til about 1am (including swearing loudly, having people come and go, felt like being at their party), but the policy does request that people be respectful of others so perhaps this was just a rare case? Regardless - Hipcamp said lots of people call it 'family friendly', but in hindsight I didn't see listed quiet hours so perhaps that was my mistake in hoping for that. The other guests in the spot near me came in late but apologized and were super respectful. And I might be more sensitive to excessive noise due to camping solo! But it really was a BEAUTIFUL spot, that could have been so peaceful, but wasn't. Not sure if I'd risk it to go back, but I loved the look of the place and feel of the land, and all the sweet amenities (great shower!), and Phil was SUPER nice!!

We drove from upstate so about 5 hour drive. we arrived and had questions right away about the set up he answered and came down. helped us level out the rv cause my jacks went out. super nice and understanding. The place was stunning. huge field behind you and tree coverage. easy to find. fire flies were out everywhere at night. the shower was clear had a little smell but nothing that stuck to you. sink and toilet were clean and working good. we truly had a blast and relaxing weekend out here. dogs were good with no leashes. grass was cut. Definitely one of our new favorite spots! down the road is a boat dock you can fish at. The only thing I would say is a little annoying is the traffic around the place but inside the rv you couldn’t hear it, it’s just close to the road but i’ll take that over a loud crowded campsite. If you want your own little spot or with a family this is the place to be!
