Probably one if not the best camping experience we’ve had in a long long time. Kim is super friendly and helpful. The property is HUGE and beautiful, with loads to explore and look at. The spots they have are secluded and peaceful, you even get your own bathroom!! 10 out of 10 highly recommend giving this place a go!

We loved camping on Kim’s land! It was quiet and peaceful. We got a chance to feed one of the baby goats and it followed us all around the property which was so much fun! The site has a really nice area for a fire and a covered picnic table. The whole area is on wood chips so you don’t get quite as dirty which was really nice. We took some short walks on the property, did a little fishing, took the kayaks out, etc… Definitely recommend!!!

Camp site was quiet and clean. Loved being on water. We kayaked from Barryton damn to camp site. Lots of portaging due to down trees adds to the adventure. Every time we casted a line into the water a fish was on. We caught over 40 small & large mouth bass. Great pizza & ice cream in town. Locals were super friendly & helpful. We will definitely be coming back!

4 nights at Private 5 Ac Wooded Rustic Campsite

What a beautiful, quiet and rustic camping spot. When our camping plans changed last minute due to a campground closure, we quickly went looking for plan B. We stumbled upon this site on Hipcamp. Highly recommend if you like a quiet site away from other campers. Every once in a while you may hear noise come from surrounding properties, but it wasn’t a bother at all. The road nearby was quiet even on a holiday weekend. There are wonderful opportunities in the area for hiking, fishing, ATV, wineries, breweries and so much more. Our dogs really enjoyed the big site off leash. The one thing I would caution is that the listing says tent or RV site. This would make an amazing tent camping spot. Our camper trailer is 24 ft and I honestly do not know how we turned it around. I would not recommend bringing any camper trailers bigger than like 15 ft. A smaller tear drop or pop up would be fine. Over all we had a great time and when we experienced a sudden truck problem, the hosts got us connected with a neighbor mechanic who was able to fix us up on Memorial Day so we could get home safe.

Our RV site was perfect, no issues at all with the electric or water hookups. Kevin and Christina were such kind and welcoming hosts. Kevin really made our last day special with the open-air movie night! He’s truly a great host. The place had everything we hoped for and more: a river, a fishing spot, fire pits, beautiful nature, and great hospitality. We had a wonderful time and would definitely come back!

Everything about this hipcamp was so lovely. The site is meticulously maintained, including the nicest outhouse I have ever experienced. The land was beautifully stewarded and the wetlands were so gorgeous. Great birdwatching from all of the trails or the site itself! Definitely can’t recommend enough, probably our favorite hipcamp so far. Icing on the top: I got to hold a baby goat!

We had a wonderful time at Elysian. After a long, holiday traffic-filled drive, we were warmly greeted by Kim—and by a blazing campfire already waiting for us! Farm Camp is perfect. We’re used to State Park camping, so our site felt downright luxurious: a charming outdoor kitchen with wash water provided, a clean bathroom with a composting toilet, a gorgeous dining area, and a lovely fire pit with a cook grate, plenty of dry firewood, and a clear view of the stars. Every night felt magical, and we were blessed with picture-perfect, clear weather. Garfield the cat snuggled with us by the fire each evening. By day, we were serenaded with lush birdsong and even caught glimpses of the elusive green heron—a dream for any bird-lover. One morning, after a quick trip into town for fresh cheese and sausages, we cooked up a delicious breakfast with a couple of eggs from the chicken coop. Kim is a gifted host. Her hospitality struck the perfect balance between presence and privacy: whenever we had a question or needed fresh water, she (and her delightful entourage of dogs, hens, goats, and geese) seemed to appear as if by magic. There’s so much more we could say, but really, all you need to know is this: book your stay and prepare for a truly gracious experience. We’ll be back!

Great spot! There is road noise but the tree lines make it feel private and the view is as pictured. Bathroom facility super tidy and well stocked. Wood delivery was speedy and our dogs loved having the space to themselves. We would highly recommend this camp!

We were invited to join a large party for a family fun camping weekend at bear paw. I was blown away with how beautiful it was here! There is SO much to do! A camper is set up for restroom use and there is a hose available for water. Centrally located to several attractions! Manistee Lake is about 2 miles away, Manistee River is just 15 mins away, a slow meandering river. Great for a lazy day floating on a tube, kayaking and canoeing. The infamous Torch Lake is about 30 mins away with it's Caribbean blue waters, equally beautiful Elk Lake along with the beaches of Lake Michigan. Traverse City and Gaylord are 35 mins away and historic Grayling is about 25 mins away. The mighty Mackinac Bridge is just 50 mins away. Visit the quaint Mackinac Island and pick up some of the famous fudge! Leetsville ORV trail head is a little over 6 miles away for ORV enthusiasts. Three golf courses within 9 miles. Cherry Street Market is 9 miles away for a large array of fresh local fruits, vegetables and flowers. Garden art and more! Wake up to fresh eggs with an endless supply from my beautiful ladies. When in season, fresh vegetables from the garden will also be available. 13 Ski Resorts within an hr or less, mostly less. Enjoy access to a small farm that includes fainting goats, chickens, turkeys, rabbits, and more. Bring your pole and try your luck at some catch and release fishing. Welcome to our camp! If you are a Harvest Host / Boondockers Welcome member you get your first two nights as part of your membership, please book those through the HH site. We have 11 acres, currently with a really ugly old farm home on site that is a rehab in progress, but a beautiful property. We are located a few miles from Torch Lake and walking distance to a public access on Elk lake. Close proximity to Elk Rapids, Alden, Williamsburg, and Traverse City and all those areas have to offer. We have water fill and a dump station on site, and we are working on electrical hook ups. Our property has many open areas to park, some very level, some not. We have woods and a large hill area with lots of birds and wildlife to see. We can accommodate large rigs, small rigs, and all in between. Pets are welcome but must be leashed as we have two of our own dogs. If you have any questions or needs, do not hesitate to ask, we will always try to accommodate. We were previous Harvest Hosts at our prior property, we have spent time as camp hosts, and have travelled the country in our RV and like to think we have a great understanding of what makes a nice camp experience and we will do everything we can to make sure that is the case, cheers! This site is accessible by a gravel driveway that leads to secluded land perfect for your camping getaway. There is tree cover, but also open areas. We have a designated area for camping that includes a fire pit, ground level metal deck, and a comfortable outhouse. There is no power or running water. Experience camping for real! (fun fact: this property has been passed down four generations of women!) We are near downtown Manton, downtown Mesick, and downtown Cadillac. Our favorite places to visit are Dayhuff lake (10 minute drive), numerous seasonal roads and trails, the Manistee River, Traverse City (45mins), Emerald Vale Golf Course (10 minutes), and Pleasant Valley Amish market for baked goods (5 min). Notes based on feedback that we've gotten from campers: -the driveway is steep, as seen in the listing photos. The recommendation for trailer size should be followed (18ft trailer max, plus 17ft car/truck). There is a corner at the top of the hill that might be tight for anything larger. I will note that there is a review where someone made it through with a 21ft trailer plus their vehicle; proceed as you will with this information.

RV-tent,gorgeous PRIVATE water view

Remote private tract in northern Michigan with Portage Creek to camp at, right up close. No neighbors, no other campers! 10 miles from Grayling so you can run into town for needed supplies with little time or effort. Bring your kayaks and swimsuit for a quick splash. The creek is mostly shallow with some deeper spots. There are downed trees so the kids can kayak without going too far away but they can go out of line of sight and hearing, so please be watchful. The last ½ mile road in can be very sandy in spots or sometimes flooded so you are encouraged to call or enquire prior to arrival, 4WD recommended for towing an RV. We recommend your first arrival during daylight hours so you can see the entrance of the property. The non-maintained county road, the last ½ mile in is typically not passable during winter and snow seasons except by snowshoe or snowmobile due to the snow level. Never leave children or pets unattended! Be aware of the chance encounter with an endangered massasauga rattler, it may be endangered but it is still poisonous and they have been seen on and around the property before. Ticks are on the rise, and the springtime can be very buggy, and mosquito-y with the surrounding swampy areas. There are bear, coyote, and an assortment of other creatures big and small. This is a wilderness area and so please be aware of wild animals. Never leave your small contained fire unattended at the firepit and watch for sparks, completely douse the fire before you leave as this is a fire-prone area. No fires outside the firepit for safety reasons and fire hazards. If you want firewood here in Grayling, there are a few places that sell it. There is down debris in our woods but as the summer goes by, it may be picked through. You can pull and circle through the open area with your RV, or you can tuck into the RV / camping spot. There is enough room for 5 or 6 cars but campers may crowd that a bit. If you are tent camping, you are welcome to set up elsewhere on the property. There are trails throughout the property and you may see the ‘No Trespassing’ signs all along the perimeter of the 23.7 acres. The toilet is now working again, but we ask that you not overtaxed it ;p . The small cabin is fairly stocked with pots and pans, good for campfire cooking. Picnic table and fire pit with cooking grate on site for your use. There are tons of nearby outdoor recreational opportunities and water bodies very close by, or you can spend your time on this private tract. The military board land and small arms range is just past the road to the west, you may hear small arms practice at times, the sound of freedom.
