Golf Digest awarded Black Lake #69 on its prestigious list of “America’s 100 Greatest Public Courses.” 11 miles to beautiful Ocqueoc Falls, 4 Miles to Onaway Speedway Park.
Approximately 50 miles to Mackinac Island! This is a self service private property so tenant is on their own and must be able to park and hookup without host assistance. No direct access to high speed internet so bring your star link. There is a large garbage receptacle that is collected each week by PAC Sanitation.

Under The Oak on Hammond Bay is a new private camp site in a beautiful, wooded area between Rogers City and Cheboygan, Michigan. A short walk from our campsite will have your feet sinking into the sugar-sand beaches of Hammond Bay on Lake Huron. Go for a swim at popular Ocqueoc Falls, Michigan's Largest Waterfall in the Lower Peninsula. Hiking, Fishing, Boating, Kayaking, Canoeing, Mountain Biking, Swimming and Exploring are among the many wonders of a Northern Michigan vacation at "Under The Oak" on Hammond Bay. Nearby Attractions include 40 Mile Point Lighthouse, the Ocqueoc River, and the Black Mountain Recreation Area. Launch your boat at the Hammond Bay State Harbor located on the Sunrise Coast of Lake Huron, north of Rogers City near Cheboygan. Catch a ferry to Bois Blanc Island from Cheboygan or visit nearby Mackinaw City for a ferry ride to famous Mackinaw Island.
This unique camp site is located on a private lane just off US23 in Northern Michigan. Under The Oak on Hammond Bay is designed to accommodate small and large camping units with either a 30A or 50A electrical hook-up. We have a level back-in site with a picnic table and fire ring high speed WIFI included. Firewood can be purchased on site.

Exactly what we were looking for! The campsite was secluded, and the area is very well maintained. Cabins are available to rent on Airbnb which worked out great for my FIL who doesn’t have a camper. Bathrooms were clean and cute.. Showers were hot. Yard games were available to use. This has to be one of the best hipcamps we’ve been to! A lot of thought has been put into this, and we are grateful to have experienced it. Thanks Jean!

Enjoyed camping on Jason's land. Lots of elbow room and easy pull in and set up. Nice little bathroom with shower available. Took our bikes into Alpena to ride some of the bike trails there and took a drive in the evenings in the Atlanta area in case we could see some Elk. Also nearby lakes to fish or kayak.

Beautiful, peaceful private property with lovely views surrounding it. There are two RV spaces, but I was there alone most of the time. Wendy was good at communicating and provided a suggestion of a local place to stop at. I will likely stop at Wendy's again the next time I'm in the area. I definitely recommend her property!

Located off the paved road, via a gravel lane, is a tranquil and engaging campsite. There are two semi-level, gravel sites available, both of which offer full hookup facilities. It should be noted that the water source is shared between the two sites, with Site B being closer, although a hose of at least 30+ feet in length will be required. Site A is situated further away, approximately 75 feet across the driving path of both sites, making it likely that the hose will be run over. The sewer connection location is ideal, while the electric connection provides 15 or 50 amp options, with a requirement to dog-bone down to 30 amp. 50 ft electric cord was utilized in its entirety.
The sites are gravel and relatively level. A picturesque tree is situated in the middle of the U-shaped driveway, with branches hanging down, requiring caution when maneuvering the trailer. It is possible to enjoy a campfire beneath the tree.
Wendy was a great help. We had a question and she immediately answered it, via phone call. She took the time to call us and explain the water pump operation. Thank you!!!

Jason’s site was exactly as described super clean, clean bathroom and shower right next door also washer and dryer. He left the light on so we could see where we were going. We were able to level the class a Motorhome easily and hook up to the 30 amp power there is also 50% power. It is a lovely quiet spot and we were able to cycle into the town where we had a lovely meal at the diner. Portions are massive and we all left full. This is a great spot and we would love to stay again. Thank you to Jason.

Staying at Linda's was like hanging out with a long-lost friend. She is such a kind, caring and fun soul. Her property is beautiful -- the view of the creek from the top of the hill is amazing. The three camping spots are on the other side of the outbuildings, so there is privacy and plenty of space. There is a nice walking path which winds down the hill and by the creek. I would definitely recommend Linda's place!

This spot was so peaceful! We thoroughly enjoyed our time here. A bit muddy upon arrival after pouring rain, so parking our 42’ fifth wheel was a bit challenging but doable. With dry packed dirt it would have been easy.
We loved the nearby Ocqueoc Falls and the hosts recommendation to go to the Party Store in Tower for pizza and ice cream was spot on.

Oh, my, this place is just lovely! It is a huge corner lot and if you had kids, they could run and run and run! The view just relaxing around the fire was very serene. And the amount of firewood Jason leaves you was amazing. Neighbors across the street, you would not even know they were there. And the bathroom he built was so adorable. And yes, the water does smell like sulfur, but host lets you know it’s not potable, but my husband took a shower and he thought it was pretty good. What a great spot for jumping off to do other adventures. 3 miles from a boat landing that took us to one of the most beautiful places we have ever kayaked, if you turn left from the boat launch. We also found a launching spot in the little park in Hillman that took us on the north branch of the thunder Bay river that probably was the most gorgeous place we have ever been. Also went bike riding on the north eastern state trail. And on a day it rained all day and evening we went adventuring up to Rogers City and other places. This Hipcamp is centrally located for all kinds of things. Jason was an amazing communicator also. A great Hipcamp!

We had a good time here. It's a nice lot in a nice location. Was very peaceful there every night....and we were there for 14 days and nights. Beach is less than 5 minute walk...river right there for fishing. 👍👍. The host was fantastic. Very easy going and nearby for any questions. They were all friendly and let you be to yourself for the quiet time. Would recommend this place to anybody who don't mind a little rustic camping (some stuff nearby to help) makes it easy. It's suitable for a small pop up or tent no problem. Enjoy!

Jason is very responsive and a great host. The site is nice and the bathroom is a great plus!
The sewer hookup is higher than most and higher than the camper discharge, making it difficult to dump the tanks. Bring a portable tank to help dump tanks and utilize the bathroom on site when possible.
Be aware the ground is not gravel so it gets very soft with lots of rain. Bring a board to help with camper leveling.

Camped here in my 17' trailer for a week while exploring area around Thunder Bay and Alpena. Wonderful alternative to an RV park or crowded state park. Private, roomy camp on a large corner lot with screening trees and foliage and -- bonus! -- a bathroom with shower and laundry(!). There's a 30 amp electrical connection on the side of the building. We did not hook up to the water because it had of the sulphur smell, but there was no issue with showering or using the laundry. Would definitely use again.
