If you're a larger group booking Salamander Hollow main camp with its Sleeping Library, Tipi & Slovenian Beehive House, you might consider renting this additional Tiny Cabin want to entertain all in glamping style, utilizing its amenities; as well, providing another bathroom/shower and guest bedroom for those who prefer being indoors while in the great outdoors. Note that Kula Bata Tiny Cabin abuts the wheelchair accessible larger bathroom/shower which is available to those at the Salamander Hollow main camp, yet you are secluded with your own private entry points and private bathroom. A ten minute drive takes you to the parking area to hike up Tully Mountain. Nestled across the road from Salamander Hollow is Timber Haven Farm, where you can schedule your pickup of bacon and eggs, while loading up on delicious Owl Energy Bars for your adventurous excursions. For those interested in the glamping side of camping, you will enjoy a remote rustic experience with a few creature comforts to keep you well read, clean and fed. Please bring your own bedding - pillows, sleeping bags, comforter, teddy bears.There is a wall mounted blue tooth car radio/CD player in Sleeping Library, so bring your pre-digital favorites. Our property is 85 very private acres with an open field surrounded by forest and open wooded area with many trails. The forest is very diverse including some old growth maples and birches, as well as hemlock and pine trees. The campsites are at the edge of the field set back into the woods. I have recently added sand and gravel to improve drainage since the heavy rain we have had last year. We have a portable composting toilet outhouse and a hot outdoor shower. Feel free to explore all of the trails on foot or mountain bike. You may see some turkeys or deer out there. There is a small pond with lots of frogs and salamanders near the camping area, and a few seasonal streams on the property. You can hike a one mile loop on our newest trail. It is medium difficulty because of the hillside it is built on so hiking boots are recommended unless you are on a mountain bike. Rock walls built in the mid 1800s circle the property almost entirely so the borders are easy to see. The Deerfield river is a few miles away where you can fish for trout or go for a swim or kayak. The Connecticut river and the green river are about 15 minutes away as well. We have tubes, a canoe, and a kayak that are available to rent for some floating! Historic Deerfield village and Yankee Candle store and factory are about 10 minutes away. We are about 20 minutes from Northampton and Amherst.

Our group of Book Club friends had the most wonderful stay at Salamander Hollow Healing Habitat! From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and cared for. Mary is an exceptional host—warm, thoughtful, and genuinely invested in creating a magical experience for her guests. Thank you, Mary, for opening your beautiful space to us! One of the absolute highlights of our stay was the pizza oven. It was such a hit—easy to use, incredibly fun, and the perfect activity to bring everyone together. We made some truly delicious creations and shared plenty of laughs around it. We also loved the variety of sleeping options throughout the property. With so many different configurations, everyone in our group found a cozy, comfortable place to settle in. It made the whole weekend feel relaxed, flexible, and tailored to us. We’re already talking about coming back. Salamander Hollow is a gem!

Jody and Keith’s site was beautiful. The stove in the tent kept it cozy throughout the autumn night. They provided a garden cart to transport our things which was helpful. The air mattress was as comfortable as an air mattress can be. Jody and Keith recommended that we bring lights, since we were arriving after sunset, but we foolishly overestimated the power of our phone flashlights. So definitely bring a few lanterns. I would definitely stay again. It was beautiful by the river.

Directions to the property were clear. The site was clean, flat, private, and peaceful. Although we didn’t use the firepit, everything was there. The outdoor shower had perfect temperature and pressure. Willis was friendly, met us upon arrival, and made sure we had everything we needed.

beautiful, restful, only bring what u can carry down a bumpy, rocky, hilly half mile, bring water, wood, lights. my dog and i were very content. the heater wood stove was hard to figure out, glad it wasn't colder. the latrine situation was also confusing. i was not prepared to pack out my trash, sadly. I'll be better prepared when we come again, maybe for a few days next time. The tent, bed, platform, site were clean, comfy and inviting. would still be comfy w more people. the full moon on the brook at night was intoxicating ♡ thanks for letting me reserve so late and last minute!! k n maya

If you need a training ground for first time "campers" (like my 3- and 6-year-old kids), this is fantastic! Jody and Keith are so nice and were more than happy to accommodate and guide what we needed. The site is rustic and we found the walk there perfect for setting the tone of having an adventure, but being close enough, just-in-case. Walking down to the small river (brook?) was excellent exploring and we were able to enjoy our time!

If you're looking for a place of rest and peace, this is it! I traveled to Mary's property with my husband, two children (11 and 9), and two large dogs (Newfies). We had plenty of space, lots of privacy, and such a comfortable stay. Each of us wished we could have spent more time here! We rented the beehive cabin, library, and tipi. The cabin was plenty spacious for my whole crew and was so cozy and comfy. We slept very well, even on a futon! The library was the kids' favorite hangout. The outdoor kitchen was awesome, and even though our wood-fired pizzas looked terrible (don't forget flour!), they were fun to make and tasted great. Our pups appreciated being able to be off lead for the first time on our New England road trip. We made the most of every square inch of Mary's space. From a yoga workout on the meditation platform, to s'mores around the fire pit, there's something for everyone here!

If you’re looking for a place of peace and rest, this is it! I traveled to Mary’s property with my husband, children (11 and 9), and two large dogs (Newfies). Every single one of us loved it and wished we could stay longer. We rented the beehive cabin, library, and tepee. The cabin was plenty spacious for all of us, providing us great sleep, even on a futon! The library was the kids’ favorite place to relax and kick back. The outdoor kitchen was awesome, and even though our wood-fired pizzas looked awful (don’t forget flour to prevent sticking! 😅), they were fun to make and tasted great. We used just about every inch of the camp. I got in a morning yoga session on the meditation platform, and we roasted s’mores by the fire pit at night. Amenities and activities were close by, too! We hiked the Tully Mountain Loop Trail, and the views were beautiful! If you’re considering a visit, don’t hesitate! Both Mary and her property are one of a kind.

What a great spot. Hearing the river the entire time is the most soothing experience. The dense tree canopy keeps the ground very cool and comfortable. Some great spots to hang up hammocks. The firewood we ordered lasted us for the weekend, which was extremely helpful. While you do have to trek a little to the site, it is absolutely worth it. Looking forward to coming back

Overall, the spot is lovely and we would recommend it to others. As others have mentioned, the listing could be a little more clear as to how dicey the walk is to the campsite. Using a wheelbarrow to carry our things wasn't feasible--that's no problem though, we will just pack more efficiently next time! Lastly, something to be mindful of is that there were campers on the other site during our stay and we noticed that sounds from the other campsite can be pretty audible at times. Still, we would definitely return!

Our family had a wonderful time setting up a “village” (3 tents) on this property. We made the trip from New York City specifically because Willis promised unlimited firewood and we sure took advantage! He was super kind and accommodating. If you’re looking for the feeling of deep- woods camping, this isn’t it; you definitely have the feeling of being on someone’s property, especially because you’re using their awesome hot outdoor shower. Highly recommend for families and folks looking for a city escape! Thanks, Willis!

1 night at Prayer Mountain

Joel was great. I wasn't clear about my teardrop camper and he felt it would have been difficult to navigate into the site. I really appreciated his concern. We were able to work out a solution that saved the reservation and gave me the flexibility I needed to be in the area overnight. If you've never been to the Deerfield River area, you are totally missing out on a wonderful experience. Nestled along the river are thousands of acres of farm land, in production, along with quiet country roads that are awesome for cycling.

It was peaceful, and felt very private. We traveled to see a show at Treehouse Brewery and enjoyed being so close! There are lots of hiking trails nearby, including a trail right on the property. The site was big enough for our tent and an additional EZ up.

Definitely pack light, “walk” is a bit of a hike to the site. But, we absolutely loved the serenity and peace by the river. Waking up to the sound of the water rushing by is second to none. The hosts were very hospitable and communicative.
