It was private, spacious and wild. I was definitely glad I had a 4 wheel drive vehicle and glad to be wearing long pants. Had I had more time I would have liked to explore some of the trails, fields and creek which were plentiful. Christian was friendly and helpful. It definitely suited my overnight needs for pitching a tent with a fire and privacy.

1 night at Quentins Treehouse

a magical little place! it truly was the closest you could get to sleeping comfortably in a tree. clean and surprisingly not many bugs outside for being on a lake in june. and was very impressed with how screened in the treehouse itself was. great for two people or if you wanted to have a solo getaway. it was such a peaceful experience!

Weekend Trip to Blueberry Orchard By The Pond

Absolute serenity at the Blueberry orchard. Total peace and quiet off the beaten path where all you hear is bird song and the breeze in the trees. The camp is clean, cozy, and offers plenty of shade for an afternoon nap! We added the sourdough loaf and jar of honey, we recommend you do as well because it is out of this world. You are a short drive to a cute town and wonderful diner Carms. Parking a camper along the stone wall proved to be very level almost as flat as a graded pad. We can't recommend enough and we will be back!

Weekend Trip to Upper Shire Campsites Hudson Valley

Our group loved staying at the Upper Shire tent site. It was spacious and private with shade available for ~3 tents, a fire pit surrounded by adirondack chairs, and hammocks. The port a potty was clean and the shower hut was a dream. The paths through the property were beautiful and our dog loved splashing around in the pond, though we didn’t get around to using the canoe ourselves. Also, there were magically no bugs at all? I don’t understand the science of that but we were not complaining. Fireflies all night long. We can’t wait to go back!

big area with lots of fire pits. there is a bath house that is a bit of a walk, but close port-a-potties. The host is part of the cafe, which was an added bonus! The camping part itself was just us and one other couple, but the cafe was busy on the weekend. There is a wooded area as well if you prefer. The ground was only a little soggy while we were there. Super dog friendly! you can hike/bike from the campsite. we did a small hike to the slabs, played in the pond and on some ropes/swings/netting.

Weekend Trip to Quentins Treehouse

This dreamy lakefront treehouse was magic—you can watch the clouds roll by, it’s so peaceful and looks out onto Lake Garfield. The bed swings gently as you fall asleep under the stars, with all the sounds of nature and lake breezes as your soundtrack. It’s rustic in the best way, perfect for unplugging and recharging. Tip for future guests: You’ll need to be comfortable with stairs (almost ladder-like but with a handrail) to access the treehouse—but the view and serenity are 100% worth it. Bring a book and a flashlight💚

2 nights at Atland Artist Residency

Beautiful property. Quiet and peaceful. We stayed two nights in the tent, which was comfortable and all set up for us with clean bedding and flashlights. We enjoyed the hot outdoor shower, the very cold and drinkable water at the sink area. The best part (since we stayed during a heatwave) was the river at the end of their driveway which was so cool and peaceful. We enjoyed visiting Williamsburg and Northampton, which were not far. We loved staying here and love supporting their space for artists.

3 nights at Moon In The Pond Farm

Our stay at Dom's Moon in the Pond farm was ideal. The cabin was cozy and comfortable while the screens successfully kept the bugs out. The property is bucolic with adorable cows, lambs, chickens, etc. We pre ordered the spicy sausage with fennel along with other farm fresh foods - which were delicious. It was the perfect home after a long day of swimming and hiking. Would definitely come again!

Site 6 was great. Large and private. The solar shower was very nice. We had especially sunny days so the water was very warm.

There are three sites: one tucked into a meadow in a forest clearing, another under a hemlock grove deeper in the woods, and a third reserved for Long Path thru-hikers who come down from the mountains for a break, which can also be overflow. All are off-grid and rustic but close enough to the house and parking area to have convenience, and far enough—and hidden out of view—to offer real privacy. (About a 4-minute walk from your shared toilet/supply/storage shed by driveway.) Tent area has cleared flat pads for two small tents. Location is far enough from things that you can walk a minute into the woods and feel lost to civilization, yet only two miles of paved road from downtown Windham and all that the cozy resort town has to offer. Makes a great basecamp for exploring the rest of the Northern Catskills, or a hideaway to stay and get lost in. Hike miles of trails and old logging roads in the Elm Ridge Wild Forest, starting literally steps from your campsite. Swim in the large spring-fed pond, or just watch the colorful koi swim. Sit around the fire and reflect on the day’s adventures. Or just take in the wide-open views of distant mountains and starry skies. Note: the only "Kitchen available" (Hipcamp's wording) is a grill over firepit. Also, toilet is a bucket-style dry composting toilet with urine diversion inside a protected shed. Sits at the base of Evergreen Mountain bordered on three sides by tumbling water: West Kill Creek, Herdman Brook, and Haring Brook. Operated as a hunting and fishing lodge for decades - rainbow, brown, heron, kingfishers, eagles, larks , deer, bear, mink, beaver, bobcat - all there, right out the door, literally. You don't know what's going to come through your camp. The actual camp site itself is the ultimate in social distancing. As close to pure wilderness as it gets. No vehicles allowed at site. From an easily accessible parking space, it's a mildly uphill ten minute hike through magical meadows deep into a hidden mountain valley in the midst of 250,000 acres. Utter privacy. The only sounds being the wind, the birds, yourself, and Herdman Brook rushing along a few yards east of your site. Once again no vehicles are allowed at the campsite itself. At one time, yes, but we needed to disallow it because the property was being torn up, and the beauty of the site is that it's so pristine. This is not glamping. No cabin. No platform. Need tent, tarp, or hammock, and you will sleep under more stars than you can possibly imagine. Fire ring, cooking grate, water bucket This is true wilderness camping. You're off the grid at site - no cell service - but wifi available if necessary on front porch of main house aka base camp. 10 a.m. check in. 3 p.m. checkout. Please send ETA when possible. Campers ought to be aware that black bears live in these mountains., although you're not likely to see one unless it's running away from you. If you're really nervous bring bear spray, but you're not likely to need it. I literally chased one off our porch not a month ago. I would appreciate your purchasing human waste bags from me at base camp when you arrive. I'll have them here for $3.00/bag. Feel free to buy your own. You should also bring FIRE STARTER to make your life easier. We sell firewood as well - 7 logs/$10. As with the waste bags, we would appreciate buying the firewood directly from us. Wonderful hikes - one to a waterfall - trail head at end of Spruceton Rd. Hunter Brook, Devil's Notch, Fire Tower atop Hunter Mountain, Ridge of West Kill Mountain West Kill Brewery and Spruceton Inn Bed and Bar each half mile up the road. Civilized respites. 4 campers preferred. 6 possible. One more thing: DOGS. We have two: a 13 year old female whatever and a shepherd-husky mix, 4 years old, also female. They are quite friendly and docile, although the shepherd looks intimidating, and both roam the property at will 2-3 times/day. We would prefer you not bring your dog, however, if you must, please be certain it is well behaved 4.5 miles up County Rte 6 to 1833 Spruceton Rd., NY 12492 Old white farmhouse. On left. We are just a couple minutes down the road from Lake Taghkanic State Park where there are over 1500 acres of trails, a 157 acre lake with a beach, boat launch and boat rentals as well as the famous West Taghkanic Diner. 12 minutes to the heart of Hudson, NY and the many incredible restaurants, artisans, antique warehouse and general beauty. 25 minutes to The Berkshires and Catamount Mountain for winter guests who enjoy skiing and snowboarding. 25 minutes to Woodstock. 4 minutes to a 24-7 high end convenience store with groceries, gas and diesel as well as large super market across the intersection. Many farm stands along our main road to check out. The Peace Pagoda is just a few miles up the road. Other nearby destinations include Cushman Market and Cafe, the Montague Bookmill, and Mt. Toby waterfall, caves, and lookout tower. Camp COVID Site 19

Named during the pandemic, "Camp COVID Site 19" was born out of our desire to camp, as we weren't able to go camping anywhere! This camp is the back half of our property, located in the village of Tannersville. Camp is divided from our personal yard by a fence. The camp is also completely fenced in once the driveway gates are closed, allowing your pets to safely be off leash if you wish! A long stone driveway leads to camp, with a flat spot to park your skoolie, motorhome, or vehicle. There is a creek running along the entire back side of our property, outside of the fenced in area, which you can access by walking a few feet though the gates under the Camp COVID sign. We have a new bon fire pit in the center of camp, and fires are allowed as long as there is no burn ban in effect. Firewood is on site, and can be added on for $10 per night. We have 2 water hook ups and one 15 amp electric hook up on site, we just ask that you do not run an A/C unit as it will trip our main breaker. There is a dump station at North South Lake State Park and Campground only minutes away in Haines Falls. Instructions and rules are posted in the bath house which has an on demand hot water shower and a composting toilet. There is a garbage can for your convienece which is located in the shed which must be kept closed to avoid black bears visiting! There is a covered dried in area to the left of the shed. We have a half barrel charcoal grill with a flat top griddle as well as several grill grates. One of the grill grates also fits over the fire pit if you prefer fire cooking! There is an RV on site that will not be occupied during your stay, please do not enter, thank you! Come and stay and say hi!

Learn more about this land: A very spacious semi-wooded site that is in the shape of a triangle. The dimensions are approximately 100' by 100' by 50'. Perfect for the large group camp out or the family site. The Lean-to is approximately 10'x9', large enough for a small tent or keep the picnic table in there for bad weather. Large or multiple tents no problem, put your tents in the wooded area where there is room for multiple tents. There is a fire pit area, picnic table, 4 outdoor chairs and corn hole that all are included with the site. A seasonal stream runs along the campsite giving you a nice bubbling brook sound. Plenty of privacy with screens around the site. Within 15-20 minutes of our site is just about anything you could desire. Local restaurants, hiking, fishing, shopping, drive in movie and much much more. Rainy days no problem explore one of our nations pieces of history, Vanderbilt mansion, Theodore Roosevelt home, Montgomery Place Mansion, Poets walk, Ferncliff forest, or Art Omi.
