Once written about by Henry David Thoreau in Walden. He called it one of the "emerald eyes of the world" . A magical place yet so close to Boston. Learn more about this land: You can enjoy glamping in our greenhouse-tent for peace and tranquility. There is a cabin built inside the tent.  It is under a canopy of trees with a cool pond breeze prevailing. The bed and linens are first rate for a very comfortable stay. There are shelves, potable water and a table within. It is heated in the cool temps and fan cooled in the warmer days.  There is a kayak and paddleboard available to borrow. There is a dryflush toilet, hand sink and outdoor heated shower in the back of the tent. Cooking is on charcoal grill and toaster oven. There are dishes, cups and utensils for your use. as well as coffee press and hot water boiler. The 40 acre pond is 65 feet deep. It is a kettle pond which is spring fed with no river inlets to pollute it.  Access is a little tricky with 100 yard hike from the parking area down a steep slope.  The pond is stocked with bass and trout for great fishing. The birds are amazing.  Henry David Thoreau wrote about White Pond in his book, Walden as the "emerald eyes of the world."  This is a place that magic happens.

Loved this little slice of heaven! Private camping area next to the river but close to conveniences. Their dog was super sweet and our dog enjoyed the friend visiting. We could hear owls at night, and saw a Bob cat! The hill was humbling so I would pack lighter next time but worth it! The A frame with King air mattress was fun to lay in and listen to the rain. The outhouse they have built was perfect size. The fire pit was nice and I very much enjoyed the swing they have at the site. Nice little stop over area or week away site. Highly recommended.

I loved staying on Jon’s property. It was so peaceful and relaxing. The cabin had a comfy bed and plenty of room to spread out. After an unexpected event forced me to arrive a day later than expected Jon graciously offered me the cabin for an additional night at no charge. He told me about all the trails on the property and brought me some fresh eggs. I didn’t leave the property and just explored with a couple mile walk. My dog loved being free to explore and chase Jon’s dogs. It was the perfect couple of days away to unwind before going back to school.

My 2 teenagers and I had a really good time camping the tent and all the accessories provided made it less stressful for a Friday after work.. we were NOT prepared for the bathroom accommodations and that there were not any other bathrooms to utilize, even on the beach there wasn’t a bathroom??? Odd!!! Also the directions weren’t clear.. we drove around for over an hour trying to find the camp.. I also tried to contact Donna and never heard back.. Frustrating!! Eventually we found the camp and we enjoyed every minute we had together!!

Jon was an amazing host, gave us farm fresh eggs and tomatoes from his garden, and even invited us down for a cup of coffee one morning. We enjoyed walking the nearby trails with our pup and the solitude of the woods. We will definitely be back!

Weekend Trip to Ponderings at White Pond

We celebrated my birthday weekend here. I would highly recommend to anyone who wants a laid back, peaceful weekend by a beautiful clear pond. Claudine and Henry were excellent hosts and gave us a tour so we knew where everything was. They were 100% accessible to us, but we still had our privacy. I enjoyed using the paddle board. We used to do more rustic camping for my birthday weekend but this was just the upgrade I needed for my beleaguered middle-aged body. The tent/cabin was very cozy and clean, with electricity so we could curl up to a movie at night with our laptop. A hot shower was much appreciated after a day of swimming. Very comfy bed. We used the rocket stove for most of our meals, which is great for cooking in a pan or open flame grilling with just a small amount of wood. Also used the charcoal grill. The toaster oven was perfect for roasting potatoes. I also just really enjoyed talking to them! Laid back, kind people and I would 100% visit again.
