We camped here for two weeks and were sad to leave. Jessa and Nathan made us feel very at home, tucked away in this precious holler. We enjoyed the silence of the night, the fog in the morning, the creek near our campsite, and the incredible hike right on property. We stayed in our 30 foot converted school bus in one of their RV back in sites. We were able to park quite easily, and there was plenty of space to maneuver the bus into the spot. The sites were level with gravel. The creek was actually quite warm to swim in. Our starlink internet worked well! Nathan and Jessa were friendly and quick to respond to any of our messages through Hipcamp. They were happy to share any cool things about the property or the town of Berea. They were respectful of our privacy and also made great company while using the kitchen in the community space. We had a fun time in the moments connecting with them over their garden and chickens. We certainly intend to be back. We really liked the community aspect of their property, encouraging people to connect. We also liked that they had their own products for sale at a reasonable price. We enjoyed everything from their eggs, asparagus, to things like apple butter and fresh garlic powder; all from their own land. We appreciated their complementary springwater. Their generosity and kind hearts truly made this beautiful holler a gem you are going to want to visit. Thank you for such a great experience. We hope to cross paths again!

We went in late April. We were the only occupants. We had the pick of the lot so we had a chance to check out every option. There were options close together and spots that seemed isolated. Every spot offers something for every camper.

Jennifer and Tyler were great hosts. This was our first Hipcamp experience and it was wonderful. Never had a 10 acre site before. Super easy to get to off the highway, level site and full hookup. We will go back

4 nights at Serenity Camp

Very nice area for a rustic camp! This is an animal lovers paradise with horses nearby, lots of rabbits running around, and a very diverse and active bird population. Very calm, but a little bit of noise pollution at night where we could hear cars, ATVs, and many dogs on adjoining properties kept outdoors. This would typically quiet down around 1am. Also, there is a very vocal whippoorwill in this area that will keep you company all night :) This may be an issue for light sleepers or the superstitious! As for the views, we could not see much at our spot although surrounding trees and starry skies were charming, but my expectations were a little different based on other reviewers' pictures. Regardless, this is a good deal for a bare bones camper, and the location is a short drive from all of the RRG sites.

Weekend Trip to Rockcastle Riverside

Quiet and peaceful sitting next to the river in our tent. We enjoyed a warm fire while relaxing. Price was fair and owner was friendly. We recently stayed at another camp not far away and there were SxS and 4 wheelers riding around all night making in hard to sleep. At Rockcastle we had no issues and were able to relax!

Weekend Trip to Boone Valley Campground

Fun little campground with a rustic and eclectic vibe. We stayed in the fort room which was cozy and comfy. Clean bathrooms with hot showers!

Weekend Trip to Rushing River RV/Camping

Very nice and relaxing place, beautiful almost mountains and the hosts were fantastic. It felt very private but not alone. There are several houses on the property. So there were people if you needed them. Also an interesting little town. I will be going back with my wife for sure. Natural bridge is 15 miles away and town is 10 minutes but it doesn’t feel like it. The hookups are in great shape and the lot is easy to get in and out of. Best part was the neighborhood Labrador who was very playful and sweet. Didn’t catch his name, but he tried to steal my water bottle, then the chocks for my camper, and finally some of my firewood. Then he noticed I was cooking pork chops and became very well behaved. LOL. He had to come back for breakfast and say goodbye. Gassiest dog I’ve seen in a long time and well behaved.

Very nice clean campground. It had rained a lot before we got there and it was still wonderful. There were no other campers there as I believe this is somewhat off season. They have bands there on weekends during season. I will be staying there if I go back to red river again. Host is fantastic. You won't regret your choice. Oh yeah, the bathroom facilities for primitive camping.. VERY NICE. Flush toilets and I came in at around 2am with 0 problems. Host did come down to check on us in the morning and was around during departure.

While there are almost 200 acres to escape into, on any fine night, the stage sits wit a drum kit and the will to make music within the Daniel Boone National Forest. HomeGrown HideAways is a farm, lodging, and event facility nestled in a hundred-acre holler in the Appalachian foothills near Berea, Ky. Our lodging features treehouses, yurts, a bunkhouse, retro camper, water/electric hook-ups, and campsites. We also host weddings, retreats, and other events so advance reservations are required. For insurance purposes and the safety of our own livestock and pets, we do not allow guests to bring their pets/ESAs onto the property. Prepare to UNPLUG as we do not have cell service or wifi (there IS a landline for guests to make phone calls located in the Community Farmhouse). All guests from tent to treehouse have access to our solar-powered Community Farmhouse featuring a fully-stocked chef-inspired kitchen, restrooms, coin-op laundry, and upstairs multi-purpose room with a library and board games. There is also an outdoor kitchen area with additional cooking space including a grill, microwave, and sink (sink is closed in the winter so the pipes don’t freeze). Next to the Farmhouse is a massive pavilion with picnic tables for al fresco dining and firewood bundles to purchase. BRING CASH! Our seasonal bath house is generally open from April or May to October or November based on the prevailing temps. There are 4 flush toilets, 2 sinks, and 2 hot showers. The floors are concrete so we recommend shower shoes and you'll want to bring your own towels and shampoo/soap. The farm has a small playground, yard games, creeks, and a steep and rugged hiking trail that loops the mountain. We're also just 8 miles from the hiking trails at the Berea College Pinnacles, 8 miles to Owsley Fork Reservoir, 20 minutes to Anglin Falls, 12 miles to Berea, 35 minutes to Richmond, Ky, and a scenic hour to Red River Gorge. For other activities, restaurants, shopping, music, and more, we're happy to share our favorites, but highly recommend checking out the Berea Tourism website.
