True definition of secluded in nature. Was able to get in the creek and follow for miles all directions. Crystal clear waters flowing from up top and all the history it carries with it! Nothing but the sounds of deer calls for bed down, owls, the wind and the trees speaking to you, and stars at night. It was definitely a heavy feeling to have to leave, but I can’t wait to get back again this season and do some more exploring. I will say this is a primitive campers advantage for sure. The wind up in the mountain can cut and rain can come in at any moment. Temps about 10 degrees or so colder than actual. I prefer cold weather camping myself but if you’re not confident in your primitive skills, I’d stay to the warmer months. All in all, can’t wait to get back to this 125 acre beauty. Thank you for sharing what you have with us!

Weekend Trip to Happy Hollow Homestead

Kerry’s Happy Hollow Homestead was a great place to meet up with a friend to camp for the weekend and celebrate the beginning of spring! The property is well thought out and completely off-grid and sustainable. Visiting the pigs was a fun interaction. The sky was clear and perfect for star gazing. There’s a trail on the perimeter of the land. Plenty of caves nearby for exploring as well! Kerry has done a great job being a steward of the land. Talking to him and learning more about the permaculture techniques that he uses was a highlight of our visit! We car camped at one of the tent/RV sites for two nights. I highly recommend this peaceful place for anyone looking to escape into nature and connect with the land! Thank you Kerry!

Weekend Trip to Buck Creek Sanctuary

Ken is SUCH a great host! He gave us a tour of his gorgeous property when we arrived and then provided fantastic recommendations for the area. As for the site itself--it's exactly what we were looking for! There's truly nothing better than being lulled to sleep by the sound of moving water and we had the magical experience of an otter sighting while sitting by the campfire. The site felt private and secluded while having the benefit of only being a 5 minute walk from our parking spot. Highly recommended!

Great property on a hill only 30 mins from Louisville. Fantastic and helpful hosts, a couple fun tree swings over a pond, chickens (cooped) and two huge dogs that our kids loved. We'll definitely be back!

We had such a relaxing stay at Handyland. The cabin was so cozy and the stars were absolutely stunning at night. We walked the trails and they are beautiful. Don’t miss them. Josh made sure we had everything we needed. Our dog was able to get some exercise and explore. We all left happy campers and would definitely stay again.

We loved our experience here! Josh was very communicative and helpful any time I had questions. The cabin was clean and well maintained. We stayed on a very cold night and enjoyed using the wood burning stove for heat. The kitchen was well stocked and we had everything we needed.

This spot was fantastic! We were able to run our generator all night to keep the heat going without bothering anyone because the spot was so secluded. The pups were able to bark and run, it was so perfect, we stayed a couple extra days! The host was super! We will definitely be back next time we pass through KY!

I loved tent camping at Buck Creek Sanctuary! Ken is amazing and so knowledgeable of the nature in his care. We tried sassafras tea Ken made from trees on the property and took an amazing immersion walk with him through the forest. There are SO many paths to explore on his property. It’s absolutely perfect for a little getaway to connect with nature. Close to the mundane world but not too close.

You can explore our interesting topography that has close to 100 foot of elevation changes, our (mostly) dry creek system that starts with 2 springs that drain into 3 sinkholes or walk 3 miles of trails (if you follow each trail from end to end). We love groups - Host your event here or have a group gathering with all your friends and family. We have spaces large enough to host hundreds of people. We welcome pets for camping, but no pets allow in the Camping Cabin. Also be aware that we have 2 friendly dogs on the land that roam freely. - 3.5 miles to Marengo Cave - 7 miles to the Blue River (canoes, rafting and swimming) - 30 minutes to Patoka Lake - 37 miles west of Louisville - 13 miles north of Interstate 64

Your pets are welcome, but keep in mind that this property is patrolled by two large Great Pyrenees dogs, and while they are friendly to people, they are territorial and have been aggressive towards other dogs until they become friends. For the safety of all the dogs, your pets must be contained/on a leash at least until all of the dogs can get to know each other. We are 5 miles from I-65, and 19 miles north of Louisville, KY. All sites include water, sewer, dumpster service on lot 62, lawn care and monitored security cameras in beautiful and very safe park. All sites are 50 amp, and we have 50 to 30 amp adapters for sale for a $25 fee. Currently there is limited Wi-Fi available through the park but especially near the office on lot 50, if you need it, ask the Manager to put you near it because we are trying to provide a radiation free area for our Manager and guests. Enjoy the beautiful new landscaping in this Resort like RV Park with twinkly lights that come on throughout the night and we have a beautiful winding creek with creek front sites. The park has paved roads, concrete pads. This is a big rig park that can handle coaches as large as 50 feet. Because we are conveniently located in the greater Louisville metropolitan area, please know there is a nearby train track that comes by a few times a day, but you get use to it, and we are only 8 miles from the Louisville International airport, but there is no freeway noise which can be very loud. We do not have bath or shower houses, or a pool, but we do have laundry facilities on site. There are showers within 2 miles at the Pilot gas station on I-65. We strive to offer excellent customer service, so please feel free to call if you have any issues! We have an on-site Assistant Manager. Annie is located on lot 12a, and you can reach her after you arrive by calling (502) 276-6090, or look for Annie working in the park. For long term RV guests, we require RVs to be 10 years or newer. We do give variances to some Airstream and restored classic RVs with a picture pre-approval by Management plus there is a free application see our website for an application on the banner.
