Today, we call it Fanthorn Forest and it's our dream, our haven and our home. We have woods and pasture with Settle's Ford Wildlife area (fishing and hiking available) 1/4 mile away. Camping is primitive with only an outhouse and no shower facilities. There are MANY thorn trees, so hikers must have proper footwear. Fire ring, wood and a grate for cooking are provided. Livestock encounters are also available with owners in attendance. All proceeds are put back in the farm to care for the animals and the land. RV's are allowed, but we do not have any hook ups available and they are not allowed in the woods. Parking area is at the end of the driveway for both cars and RV's. We love kids and will provide lawn darts or any other games we have available if requested. The Couple's Cabin is a part of the rustic Cabins of Lakeview by Sue Barn Venue. With its own lake-view porch too, it holds a maximum of 3 guests (including the ladder-accessible loft for one). When not being rented along with a wedding/event, it is offered here for a quiet stay. All the kitchen accessories you may need, comfy bedding, and plush towels, for the full bathroom with shower, have been provided. The little lake is steps from your front door where you can enjoy a little fishing too.
The space
Along with a well-appointed inside, we have chairs on the front porch for lake viewing and a grill for outdoor cooking too. There is also the Rustic Duck, a wonderful restaurant and art gallery, just a short walk away. Enjoy our little lake! This peaceful countryside cabin has a nice little lake just right for fishing just steps from the front door from which folks have caught catfish, bluegill, crappie, and bass. The Appleton City Lake does not allow swimming. It does not allow boats with motors. However, you could bring a kayak if you wanted. We have a community fire pit and picnic tables too. The grill is electric with pellets. We provide firewood for the pit and pellets for the grill.

We are a little over one mile down a level gravel road and just 3.5 miles total from the small town of Appleton City where we have a little restaurant, Caseys, a very nice little grocery store (closes 7 pm), coffee house (mon-sat 8 am-11 am), and Dollar General (closes 9 pm). I live nearby on the property and am available to greet you when you arrive.
Other things to note
Appleton City is a small town. If you are coming in late, you may want to stop on the way to pick up food. We have a few stores in town, but some folks are caught off guard to find out the stores close early. But Caseys has sandwiches and assorted quick items and is open until 11 pm.

Visitors are welcome to inquire about regenerative soil practices on the land. As we grow the garden and amend the soil, we hope to see repeat visitors in the years to come.
While paths are mowed, they may not be maintained weekly like lawns, so some natural length should be expected. Bringing bug deterrent is recommended for comfort.
Pets that are responsibly kept are welcome. Consideration of neighbors, the land and livestock is requested during your stay.
Cash may be useful for additional goods and services onsite. (I.e. Freshly milled organic wheat bread, homemade kombucha and lacto-fermented sauerkraut)
The tent and RV sites are drive-up accessible.

We are on 7 beautiful acres in Baldwin City, KS. We're in town, but you'll feel like you're secluded in the country so you get the convenience of being close to downtown Baldwin, just 3 minutes away, while also feeling like you're in the middle of nowhere peacefully camping, just you and the birds. Our "glamper" is a 1960's retro camper that has been fully restored. The outside still looks very retro, but when you step inside you'll instantly surrender to the relaxation that awaits. Sink into the pile of fluffy pillows, take in the breathtaking boho vibe and the many amenities including A/C and Heat, wifi, a microwave, television with Netflix, refrigerator, waterless toilet and hand-washing sink. The Couple's Cabin is a part of the rustic Cabins of Lakeview by Sue Barn Venue. With its own lake-view porch too, it holds a maximum of 3 guests (including the ladder-accessible loft for one). When not being rented along with a wedding/event, it is offered here for a quiet stay. All the kitchen accessories you may need, comfy bedding, and plush towels, for the full bathroom with shower, have been provided. The little lake is steps from your front door where you can enjoy a little fishing too.
The space
Along with a well-appointed inside, we have chairs on the front porch for lake viewing and a grill for outdoor cooking too. There is also the Rustic Duck, a wonderful restaurant and art gallery, just a short walk away. Enjoy our little lake! This peaceful countryside cabin has a nice little lake just right for fishing just steps from the front door from which folks have caught catfish, bluegill, crappie, and bass. The Appleton City Lake does not allow swimming. It does not allow boats with motors. However, you could bring a kayak if you wanted. We have a community fire pit and picnic tables too. The grill is electric with pellets. We provide firewood for the pit and pellets for the grill.

We are a little over one mile down a level gravel road and just 3.5 miles total from the small town of Appleton City where we have a little restaurant, Caseys, a very nice little grocery store (closes 7 pm), coffee house (mon-sat 8 am-11 am), and Dollar General (closes 9 pm). I live nearby on the property and am available to greet you when you arrive.
Other things to note
Appleton City is a small town. If you are coming in late, you may want to stop on the way to pick up food. We have a few stores in town, but some folks are caught off guard to find out the stores close early. But Caseys has sandwiches and assorted quick items and is open until 11 pm.

Located 15 minutes east of Louisburg off of 69 highway, and 15 minutes west of Harrisonville off of 49 highway. The local sourdough bakery offers fresh goods on Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday. A local brewery is a 15-minute drive away, and Bourgmont Winery is situated 30 minutes northwest.
If the garden is producing, visitors can help themselves to tomatoes. Yard games and the basketball hoop are available, with equipment to be put away afterward. The fire pit is also available for cooking and s'mores.
Visitors are welcome to inquire about regenerative soil practices on the land. As we grow the garden and amend the soil, we hope to see repeat visitors in the years to come.
While paths are mowed, they may not be maintained weekly like lawns, so some natural length should be expected. Bringing bug deterrent is recommended for comfort.
Pets that are responsibly kept are welcome. Consideration of neighbors, the land and livestock is requested during your stay.
Cash may be useful for additional goods and services onsite. (I.e. Freshly milled organic wheat bread, homemade kombucha and lacto-fermented sauerkraut)
The tent and RV sites are drive-up accessible.
For Civil War enthusiasts, the local site in Freeman is associated with Colonel Freeman and the Freeman's Regiment, Missouri Cavalry, organized in January 1864 and active in Missouri until disbanding in spring 1865.

I stayed in The Stevie glamping yurt at Lake Georgia Sue Campground, and it was absolutely perfect. The view was beautiful, the area was peaceful and quiet, and everything was spotless. The entire property is stunning, with horses, goats, mini pigs, and other animals that add to the overall experience.
The lake itself is gorgeous, and the residents and employees were incredibly friendly and accommodating throughout my stay. It truly feels like a little hidden gem.
Location-wise, it’s great too—Jesse James Cave is just a short drive away, and there’s a local diner nearby with amazing food. If you’re visiting in the fall, the scenery is especially breathtaking.
Highly recommend staying here, especially in The Stevie!

Base Camp was my first experience with my new-to-me camper and Hipcampers and it was a great experience!
Base Camp is set up very well...easy to get in and out of - especially for anyone with little experience. The pull through spots are very wide. Although I didn't get to use the free to use bicycles or canoes on this trip I did check them out and they are very well taken care of.
The Camp was peaceful and although it's just off the roadway it was very quiet with very little road noise.

I just can’t say enough wonderful things about this experience. The hosts are so kind and caring. The camping spot was in a clearing with a short walk across a bridge. There was a great fire pit and Layne kept it stocked with wood. He even provided a gas torch that made starting fires easy and fun. In addition to this beautiful, quiet camping spot….a nearby fairy cove was beautifully situated which made for hours of reading. In the middle of the pasture, a gated area with additional space for hanging out with the animals was a two minute walk from my camping spot. All weekend long, I enjoyed getting to know all the animals. Each animal has a name and a personality. I loved the horses but quickly began to appreciate the cattle, alpacas, llama, pig, cats and dogs. The rescued animals are healthy, well-fed and loved. It was the most restful and unique camping experience. The owners added some great fall/Halloween decorations that thrills the kid in all of us. Kids would really benefit from this environment. I had no problem getting cell service but wouldn’t have minded either way. The sunsets were especially gorgeous. The hosts left me to myself but didn’t mind when I had questions- they are so smart. I enjoyed my stay so much I added another day on. I got to take my gravel bike out and explore all the nearby areas. Being able to bike was an added bonus. I am already excited to bring my grandson back!

Fred and his staff have created such a special space over in the Stevie tent, and the entire property, for that matter! They made us feel very welcome, while still giving us the privacy we desired.
You can feel how much care has gone into the grounds and my partner and I could not have had a more enjoyable stay! There are cute little side trails, horses and goats wandering about, and plenty of space for exploring and activities. Could not recommend more!

We really enjoyed our stay! The campsites were nice and level, making setup easy. Campers have access to a beautiful pond surrounded by trees — perfect for relaxing. The paddle boats and provided life jackets were a fun bonus, and we loved having bikes available and easy access to the nearby bike trail.
A couple of things could be improved: the grounds could use more frequent mowing, and a larger trash receptacle for campers would be helpful. Overall, it’s a peaceful and enjoyable spot, and we’d definitely come back!
