We have full service camp sites. The camp shack is appointed with a picnic table and TV to catch up on the latest news. Bald eagles are a huge attraction in this area. Acres Trust Nature Preserve is a short walk away. We have our own 4 acre wildflower meadow that attracts many butterflies and birds during the summer months. It's just a peaceful, quiet place to visit. Cell phone service is not great here but not totally absent if you stand in the right place. Wi-Fi is available. This is our private camp ground and not a for public use unless arrangements are made with us. We will assign your site before your arrival. A vacancy on this site does not mean we have availability as our friends and family may be visiting. Suggested Local Attractions:The World's Greatest Amateur Circus: Peru, Indiana, is also known as the "Circus City". In the late 1800s and early 1900s, Peru was home to the Hagenbeck-Wallace Circus and others. Even the Ringling Brothers Circus wintered there for a while. For 10 days each July, Peru celebrates the Circus City Festival with rides, crafts, food, games, and more. The highlight, however, is the live amateur circus that has performances throughout the festival. A unique and authentic experience that echoes the early heyday of the circus, this is a fun event not to be missed. Performers are locals, some of whom are direct descendants of professional performers in the earlier shows. Mississinewa : Located 3 miles from Camp Ames Mississinewa Lake is a designed for flood control. That said, depending on rainfall during the summer, many recreational activities are available. Swimming at the beach, boating, and fishing. Nickel Plate Trail: Located 2.9 miles from Camp Ames This asphalt trail is one of the best in the State to ride or walk on!!! It keeps getting better because the trail keeps getting extended with more pathway added. The volunteers do a superb job up keeping this 50 mile path. Make this a to do for a beautiful Fall ride once the leaves begin to change. You'll be immersed in intense colors and wonderful woodsy sights and smells. Seven Pillars: Located 0.8 miles from Camp Ames This breathtaking formation along the Mississinewa River was created over the centuries as wind and water eroded the limestone, carving rounded buttresses and alcoves into the north bluff of the river. Seven Pillars Nature Preserve - Acres Land Trust - Located 0.3 miles from Camp Ames! This preserve on the south side of the Mississinewa River is named after the landmark 25-foot limestone pillars, also owned by ACRES, which are located on the north side of the river. On top of the bluff grow red cedar, Juneberry and shadbush. In the preserve are beech, maple and other trees, as well as open meadow. The Miami Nation continues to gather at the pillars. The preserve is 148 acres of woods open to the public to walk the woods. There is 1.8 miles of trail. PRESERVE RULES: As a preserve visitor, you are responsible for keeping these habitats undisturbed. Beginning Labor Day Weekend, ride the tractor and trolley through the Orchard, for tours and apple picking. Toward the end of September through October, the trolley will stop in the pumpkin patch for u-pick. There is no parking or admission fee, and no charge for the ride through the Orchard. Named after the daughter of JR and Marla Dennis of Kokomo. Preslie Lynn Dennis passed from injuries sustained in a car accident on June 22, 2018. She was just short of her 18th birthday and ready to leave for boot camp to serve our country in the United States Army having already served in the National Guard. Home Sweet Home, tucked in the heart of agriculture and lake life, Angola is a wonderful small town in the north east corner of Indiana.  Songdog Meadows is our little piece of joy, from morning swims in the pond, long walks with our retrievers and sunsets to take your breath away, it is truly and deeply a treasure we cherish.  The property host a variety of apple trees, open grass land, and a large cluster of trees surrounding a 3/4 acre pond, while being surrounded by wood lots on three sides and open fields to the west.  It is truly a peaceful haven in a rural country area. Learn more about this land:Hang your hammock or pitch a tent just outside our 3/4 acre pond. There are two basins with a channel and a peaceful tree filled grass area between. The pond is in the corner of the 10 acre lot where we live at the end of a dirt road with only a small amount of traffic. The camp site is walk in on mowed pathways, with the driveway and parking area less than 200 yards away. There is a security light so you will never be in complete darkness. A stone fire pit and picnic table sit just off shore of the swimming area of the pond. There are several wide mowed pathways surrounded by prairie grasses, shaded by large trees. The area can easily handle several tents, hammocks and small RVs. The area is rural farm land with a handful of houses on the short dirt road. But this property is surrounded by wood lots and open fields. Two neighbors houses are visible but separated by trees. Our house is visible from the pond and camping area.

Enjoy camping at a Orchard, Cidery, and Meadery! Bring a tent to camp, or an RV. We offer a tent camping spot and several RV spots. Enjoy the tasting room when open (Friday and Saturday) Hang out with the chickens. Take a walk around the property and through the orchard. Bathroom is available via porta potty. It is cleaned weekly and we have a hand wash station along with bug spray. ***Please note: We are located right off of Highway 27. There is some noise, if you are a light sleeper***

4 acres of rural country setting, 35 minutes northeast of Fort Wayne. Come enjoy the half-acre pond that is stocked with bluegill, catfish and bass. You may also see some turtles, blue heron, deer and other wildlife. We have walking trails on the property and a fire pit for use near the pond. Country roads are nice for bike riding or taking a walk.

Private, huge, level but also sloping down to Fawn River site with perfect mix of 🌞 and 🌫️, and a large farm/woods to roam. Road and path to site was smooth enough for my low trailer and car. Hosts were excellent in all ways, just right at being informative, helpful or accommodating, but yet allowed us full privacy. Very interesting areas to explore in both NW Indiana and SW Michigan. The hosts and their farm are exceptional. Ask Mr. Graber about one of the split rocks around the campfire... and sample Mrs. Grabers baked goods. And relax in nature.

We had a great time. It was so relaxing and quiet. The campground was very well maintained and beautiful. My gps got us lost and Lisa called right back with help. Earl greeted us and showed us to spot. The bathrooms and shower were very nice and clean. Loved the ducks that hung around us.

What a wonderful place to stay! The location off of the US 12 was very convenient. The private site itself was part of a concrete driveway in the rear of the host's beautiful home. It was equipped with a 50 amp electric hookup and a dump station. Firewood and starter kindling was readily available. And best of all, it was very quiet at night. We highly recommend this Hipcamp. It far exceeded our expectations!

Site #1. The grass would be behind your camper. This site is closest to the road. Best view of the river.

Our hosts, Wade and Beth, were very nice and were quick to contact us once we arrived on site. Beautiful location on the Mississinewa River, gorgeous rolling hills, super quiet (the geese wandering around don't count) and dark at night. While small with only a few spots available, we would not hesitate to recommend others to camp there!

Nice site behind the owners house next to their pond. Beautiful view and nature sounds on the pond. Gravel pad and grass field very nice and flat. Just a note it is semi private, In their back yard (no visual barrier to their home). If you’re a light sleeper bring ear plugs for the light Road and train noise. Good communication and very helpful.!!! I would camp here again!

Earl and Lisa were quick to communicate when I needed any help. They were excellent kind hearted folks. Their bathrooms, showers, and sink were clean and very much appreciated. I loved their land and enjoyed my full hook up site close to their pond which had lovely scenery with a number of Mallard ducks. They also had a some cozy evening string lights which helped to get around the bathroom and sink area at night and really set the mood for great evenings. I highly recommend their lovely site for RV or tent camping.

Great full-hookup spot! The Barndominium is beautiful and the grounds include a pickleball court, fire pit with chairs, and great landscaping. We were the only ones staying on the grounds and it was nice and quiet. The owner was on-site upon our arrival and was very kind, welcoming and accommodating. Would stay again and would recommend, especially for those looking for a place to stay near Notre Dame!

Camp Ames is a great place where you can sit back and enjoy some peace and quiet or simply stop for the night. The river is literally across the street where you can cool off, fish, kayak, or simply look for wildlife. Preslie Meadow is on their property and the grounds are very well kept. They also have a little self service store if you need a few items including fresh eggs from their chickens. Highly recommend if this is what you like to do.

What a great hidden gem! Site was concrete, level, full 50a RV hookups, tucked away behind the barn. "Star Host" is an understatement- they were beyond welcoming, very accommodating, sociable and friendly. They were more like the neighbors you hope to get! The location was within walking distance to the lake, and short driving distance to Elkhart. The strongest recommendation I can make is that I will not hesitate to stay here again when in the area. Google Maps warning: Maps will take you to the wrong (dead-end!) street. I strongly recommend pulling over on the side of the street, *before* turning into any dead-ends, and walking it to see where the entrance is. The concrete pad is large, but it's probably better to back down the driveway if you can. I could probably have spun my 32' RV around, but just easier to avoid the issue and back down.
