Lake Perry Campground was established in July, 2024. We are located just outside the main gates of Lake Perry. Lake Perry is a private, gated, lake community that is only accessible by lot owners and their guests. Lake Perry Campground offers 17 full hookup sites consisting of public water, 70 amp electric, and public sewer. 9 sites are pull through lots that are 25' wide x 35' long, and 8 back-in lots ranging from 25-60' wide and 30-100' long. Two buddy lots (camper & tent) are available as well. We also have 1 tent lot with 20 amp electric and water. Completed in August 2025, is a 30' x 50' pavilion with restrooms (2 toilets) and (1) floor to ceiling tile shower in each restroom. A tankless hot water heater was installed for endless hot water. A seasonal bar & grill operates on the weekends and sometimes more serving canned beer, mixed drinks, premium wines, and adult slushy drinks such as the nearly famous Perrywacker. There is Starlink wifi and an ice vending machine on-site 24/7. Located at the confluence of the Meramec River and Labarque Creek, my place (Matt's Place) is a ridge above a bottomland bowl of sorts. The old iron truss bridge here is likely built in 1910 and it has a survey marker from 1932. The creek has a nice little swimming hole, and a beach that is sometimes sand, sometimes, gravel, and sometimes a mix of both with some silt or even mud after a storm. It's peaceful down there to explore in the creek, wade while looking outward to an opening into the Meramec River. It's also fun to stand just at the mouth of the creek in the Meramec River. It's an awesome view upstream or downstream of tree lined banks, rock bluffs, and every now and then, passing boats, canoes, paddle boards, or kayaks. The old iron truss bridge hovers above the meeting of two waters. The water is cool and clean. Some fifty species of fish have been recorded in this creek, the most in all of Jefferson County and St Louis County. The bottomland has two levels, the lower bottoms down by the creek and the upper bottoms about a hundred feet from the creek. The upper bottoms has a clearing like a meadow with mowed grass. My favorite things to do here include gazing up at a cottonwood tree that must be sixty feet tall. It's leaves in a breeze are like a thousand hands waving hello. The bottomland meadow offers just enough sky to see bats dance in the dusk air between the trees, then fireflies as it gets darker yet. Up top is where I live. Just five miles off HWY 44 and HWY 109, at Eureka, MO, (30 minutes west of downtown St Louis, 18 minutes from Six Flags) this place sits on a ridge with great views above the Meramec River.

Water (from hydrants and hoses) and portopotty are up near main barns. We have 60 horses on the farm as well as goats, cats, and chickens. Grand Army Farm is a family owned working farm. We raise beautiful angora goats for fiber and have chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys and meat goats. We serve local restaurants and participate in many local area farmers market. We pride ourselves in minimizing our carbon footprint, to the extent that we don't own any heavy piece of farm equipment, not even an ATV. The working portion of the game only accounts for 15 % of the land. What this means is that 85% of the wooded acres is available for you HipCampers to hike and explore. Of particular interest is the site of an old moonshine distillery hidden in the woods, a 20 min hike east of your campsite. Legends has it that the moonshine was illicitly produced during Prohibition and sold in the loft of our biggest barn where people would drink and dance the night away. The property boats of gorgeous mature oak trees, hickory trees and newer cedar stands where nature abounds. In the morning you may see the herons fly in or the Canadian geese come in.Learn more about this land:Pitch your own tent by our 5 acres lake. You will hear the frogs croak at night, see sights of blue herons or Canadian geese flying in, and hear our own geese and ducks greet you from across the lake. We are located about a half mile off the main highway right out side of town. Back in our second driveway and enjoy our little bit of paradise. Hang out at the tiki bar and grill some burgers or sit on the beach and enjoy the sunshine. You can also sit by the goldfish pond and listen to the water run down the stream. You can end the night with a nice fire in the fire pit.. this site offers a little bit of everything, no need to go anywhere else you can have a nice getaway at the 107. Full hook ups are available 30 and 50 amp.

Elizabeth made every effort take my stay stress free. I extended my stay twice Jeremy was helpful upon my arrival and allowed me to barrow a water hose because mine was not long enough Baby goats, cows and a horse on the farm. And the rocks found here were amazing. If my travels bring me this way again I would camp here again.

I camped with an RV. The property was nice and quiet. I really enjoyed sitting outside in the woods. There is a beautiful creek on the property you can walk to. When we went, we had the entire creek area to ourselves. If you are a rock hound, there are plenty of rocks to be found on the beach area.

The garden is a very nice touch too, a pleasant oasis retreat from the surrounding area. Location was central to everything my family wanted to visit and easy access to the highway. Would definitely inquire about staying again if we return to the St Louis area.

Weekend Trip to Urban Surprise

Hosts were very communicative and gracious. I appreciated the security measures they had in place (motion sensitive lighting, locked gate, looked like they had security cameras, etc). Standard city noises, nothing that prevented me from resting. Neighborhood is a bit older and worn down, but the property has great access to the highway and other parts of St Louis. Nearby gas stations are within walking distance for any immediate needs. Would stay here again!

Convenient (easy on/off the highway), safe (fenced, gate with lock, and I believe security cameras), level site with full-hook-up off alley and tucked behind residence in a block of downtown St. Louis with other buildings in the area undergoing renovations. Solo, full-time, female traveler and NEVER felt unsafe. Less than 5 miles to Gateway Arch National Park and other major attractions in St. Louis. I had an opportunity to meet Jeff when he stopped by to water the garden. I mentioned that I had driven through several construction zones and my LTV was very dirty. He graciously offered the use the water to spray off my van! He and his wife, Kim are not only extremely knowledgable about St. Louis, but were incredibly generous with their time, messaging me their favorite places to visit, transportation options, and vegan restaurants! Would definitely stay at Urban Surprise anytime I visit St. Louis! Like others have reported the alley is NOT level, so slow speed and GOAL (get out and look) are both important, when backing in or out of the site.

It was a great experience camping at a farm. First time doing that for me. It was a great experience. They have a nice community kitchen where I could chat with other campers. That kitchen had some decaf coffee. I didn't bring any and I thought that was a nice touch. There's a nice pond and a bench for sitting and drinking coffee in the morning, too.

This was my first time camping on a farm. It was awesome! I wish I could've stayed one more day. I was there for three. There are a great variety of campsites, clean and well-maintained. I enjoyed meeting other campers at a communal outdoor kitchen. I spent my mornings at the pond where my dog had the best day of her life.

Weekend Trip to R & T Farms

We were only in town for one night as we passed through but we loved it! It was awesome to see the chickens, cat (super friendly), cows and more! Ryan was quick to respond to any questions. The site was private and had electrical and sewer hookups. It's only about 30 mins from downtown but felt a world away!

4 nights at R & T Farms

We had a lovely 3 night stay on Ryan and Tanya’s beautiful property. The site was large, level and easy to maneuver around with a west facing view. Every sunset was stunning. It was very private with 30amp and sewer. We filled our fresh water tank when we arrived. There are hoses long enough to reach the site if you need to refill. The hosts were easy to communicate with and quick to respond to any questions. St Louis is an easy 30 minute drive if you want to explore. There are also a couple small towns that are closer with provisions, restaurants, coffee shops, etc. Ryan and Tanya were wonderful, kind hosts. We will definitely stay again next time we’re in the area.

Ryan was an excellent host! He was flexible with our arrival, kind and helpful during the entire stay. It is unusual to find electric and sewer hookups. It was quiet and peaceful, just what we were needing.

2 nights at Sugarloaf Creek

Very pleasant stay, water and power hookup’s worked perfectly for our 2 night stay. About 20 minutes to the St. Louis arch and downtown museums. Meghan does mention a steep incline down the driveway does get a little gnarly, especially with all the big trees to maneuver around, stay on your right side of the road when it splits avoid hitting the big tree when starting to turn left down a sharp curve.
