Camp Chet was founded with the purpose to help people encounter God through outdoor experiences. It over 900 acres of private forested land on Whitwell Mountain, which is part of the Cumberland Plateau in Southeast Tennessee. Take a hike on miles of trails comprised of forest paths, old wagon roads, or coal mining roads. If you find a chunk of coal on the ground feel free to take it home with you as a souvenir. If you are a history buff, you may be interested in discovering previous caretakers from the late 1800's and early 1900's in nearby cemeteries. The camp ground is on top of a mountain, and you will have to go through a locked gate and drive over a mile and half on a bumpy gravel/dirt road. You will be most comfortable in a vehicle that is suitable for rugged terrain. This property was purchased by my husband and I in 1980 from Margret Cetera mother of Peter Cetera lead singer of the band Chicago. When purchased the home was a small non descript cottage with a pole barn in the back field. It has grown to support grape, blackberry and muscedime vines.The original home has expanded through time and around 20 years ago, the pole barn was converted into a large 1200 square foot cabin with modern conveniences. My husband and I actually enjoyed living full time in the cabin for a period of 5 years before returning to reside in the main house. Perfect little location for some fall trees and a little getaway. The cabin had everything I needed with the extra bonus of the personal hot tub! Instructions about everything in the cabin were very easy to follow. I also appreciated how this one felt a little more secluded than some of the neighbors!

We had such a relaxing time! The cabin was perfect for the 5 of us and it had all the amenities we needed. We loved the lights around the campsite, and the kids took over the loft area in the cabin! Having a nice bathroom and the kitchen area just enhanced the stay! The highlight was enjoying the sweet kitties that spent time with us! It was a perfect little getaway!

Absolutely amazing, cute and quaint stay! You’re surrounded by the woods but have easy access to the town! The bed was super comfy and it had everything we needed. I can’t say enough good things about my stay! The farm setting was absolutely serene — nestled along a river and within striking distance of the mountains. Every detail was so thoughtfully done, from the well-kept amenities to the little touches that made it feel both comfortable and connected to nature. What really stood out was the hospitality. The hosts were genuinely kind and welcoming, and they went out of their way to help me plan things to do in the area — from scenic spots to local hidden gems; they went out of their way to make my stay extra special. Weekend Trip to Running Water Creek

First time camping ever and we were absolutely blessed by this site! It was such a wonderful way to ease ourselves into camping, everything was super accessible while still maintaining our privacy and allowing us to fend for ourselves just a bit lol I would recommend bringing extra blankets and pillows, thankfully we did and it made a world of a difference. Weekend Trip to Cabin and Barn on 20 Peaceful Acres

A very comfortable camping set up. Quite a lot of space in the woods to ourselves and between outhouses, with a large clearing in the middle for kids to enjoy. Kitchen and dining area under the barn is very well equipped. I didn't need to bring any extra cooking or dining equipment. Took us a little time to figure out the hot water in the shower but it does make a difference when it's on. Lots of products and some toilet paper provided. The wooden cabin was a great set up for sleeping. Very well ventilated and little fairy lights for nice ambiance. We took our air mattresses and sheets and it was like a little camp hotel. There is a road nearby but it's completely silent at night and pretty quiet during the day too. Horses on the property make great scenery. All in all clean and well maintained. Would just recommend taking a bath mat for the shower floor and tea towels for the kitchen for maximum comfort. Host was very easy to contact at any point and very helpful.

Absolutely perfect, secluded, with the minimum you might need, but all the necessities you might want. The cabin is super cute and cozy. AC and fans work great on a hottest day, beds are comfortable, all the utensils (spatulas, pots and pans, grill stuff- everything!) Fantastic spot: the pond, the woods, the boats, the campfire … Perfect is the only word needed. PS. Bring plenty of drinking water and a large cooler full of ice :)

Weekend Trip to The Ole Place

We rented the cabin for two days, and my only complaint is that I wish we had more time there. This place was an absolute hidden gem! The peaceful atmosphere was just what we needed — early mornings were filled with the sounds of birds chirping and frogs croaking, which made for the perfect backdrop to sit back and truly unwind. We brought our dog Saidee to celebrate her birthday, and it was such a special experience. She had the best time exploring the property, cruising the pond in the paddle boat, and just enjoying all the open space and fresh air. It’s a memory we’ll always cherish. The scenery around the 3-acre pond was a beautiful touch — so calming and picturesque. We spent time fishing in the stocked pond, which was a relaxing and fun bonus. And at night, being away from the city lights, the stars were absolutely breathtaking. You could see the whole night sky so clearly — it really added to the magic of the place. The cabin had everything we needed and more. It was clean, comfortable, and clearly maintained with care. Randy was a fantastic host — welcoming, responsive, and thoughtful in every detail. You can tell he’s poured a lot of heart into making this place a true escape for his guests. We truly didn’t want to leave and are already looking forward to coming back. Thank you, Randy, for sharing this beautiful space with us!
