Embracing Nature's Classroom: A Journey into the Heart of Agroforestry In the heart of our bustling city lies a hidden gem—a five-acre agroforestry site seamlessly integrated with a wildlife refuge, offering a sanctuary for both humans and nature. This unique haven challenges traditional farming norms, embracing permaculture principles and providing a holistic education on sustainable living. The Agroforestry Oasis: This agroforestry site thrives as a harmonious blend of natural elements. The farm, rich with diverse flora, serves as a testament to the possibility of cultivating food in harmony with nature. With a natural pond reflecting the sky and a cypress forest providing shade, the site is a living example of how agricultural practices can coexist with the environment. Wildlife Refuge: Surrounded by a city environment, the wildlife refuge within the agroforestry site stands as a testament to the resilience of nature amidst urbanization. Birds, insects, and small mammals find solace in this haven, creating a unique urban wildlife ecosystem. The refuge highlights the importance of preserving green spaces within cities for biodiversity and ecological balance. Permaculture Education: Classes on permaculture gardening and natural cooking form the core of the educational experience offered on the site. Participants learn not just about cultivation but also about the interconnectedness of ecosystems. These classes empower individuals to apply permaculture principles in their own lives, fostering a sense of responsibility towards the environment. Campfire Gatherings: At the heart of the agroforestry site lies a community space, where campfires flicker at individual camping sites and merge into a grand communal fire. This space fosters a sense of community, encouraging shared experiences and conversations under the open sky. It exemplifies the essence of coming together to appreciate and learn from nature. Nature's Unfiltered Beauty: Unlike manicured gardens, this facility proudly stands in its natural state. The untamed beauty of the landscape contributes to the existence of a diverse array of wildlife. Visitors are invited to witness nature as it is, fostering a deep appreciation for the raw, unfiltered beauty that often goes unnoticed in our modern, structured world. Invitation to Experience: This isn't just a description; it's an invitation. Come, explore, and experience the magic of this agroforestry site for yourself. Feel the connection between nature and sustainable living, learn about permaculture, and revel in the simplicity of a campfire under the stars. Witness the beauty that emerges when humans and nature coexist harmoniously. In this city oasis, the agroforestry site isn't just a piece of land; it's a living, breathing classroom where the lessons are taught by the wind in the trees, the rustling of leaves, and the vibrant life that thrives in every corner. It's time to appreciate nature and learn about how it works, not just as observers but as active participants in the dance of life. Bring your dogs, they will have a blast! This is not a place for glampers, people afraid of nature, or people that cannot deal with bugs or extreme temperatures!!! During certain times of the year and certain times of the day, there are a million bugs! We stay inside during these times. We are 25 minutes from Okeechobee City, the bass fishing capital of the world, 45 minutes to Fort Pierce, & 35 miles from Sebring International Raceway. The Kissimmee Prairie State Park is very close by. The prairie is the darkest part of Florida. Astronomers, bring your telescopes and cameras to capture the night. You will possibly see cows, bobcats, wild turkeys, wild pigs, armadillos, birds, or the neighbors dogs might show up. Don’t worry, they are quite friendly. We have a 50 amp RV Hookup with NO septic and plenty of space for primitive camping. Bring your horse, but there is no paddock or barn. The storage building on the premises is not part of the rental, please leave it alone. There is electricity and non-potable water. The water is safe for teeth brushing, washing dishes, and showering, but it does have a very strong smell of sulfur. There is an outhouse. Please use it sparingly & only flush toilet paper provided. There is an outside sink, an outside shower with no privacy, a picnic table and a fire pit. If you come with your RV, please use your RV toilet. There will be a major fine for any septic dumping. 1/3 of the land is cleared and 2/3 is full of mature oak trees and trails. It is fenced with barbed wire fencing. Please keep your food trash in your cars & take it with you. You do not want to attract predators. You can recycle, or throw away any trash that is not related to food in the garbage can. Keep an eye on your small dogs. There are also snakes and predatory birds. It is hard with words to describe the beauty of this property, so please check out the pictures. Happy Camping!

From the moment you arrive, you’ll sense the difference. Nestled in the heart of a vibrant city yet completely shielded by nature, Unwind Island is a rare hidden gem. Here, the sounds of urban life fade, replaced by birdsong, rustling palm fronds, and the gentle whisper of wind over water. This is a retreat where time slows down and nature takes center stage. ✨ The Experience Picture this: You wake up to the golden light of sunrise peeking through the trees, the air rich with the scent of hibiscus and fresh morning dew. You sip your coffee under the shade of mature oaks and palms, while egrets, anhingas, and other native Florida birds glide silently over the water. A few turtles might sun themselves on a nearby log, and if you’re lucky, you might spot a graceful heron stepping along the edge of the lake. Our retreat is perfect for those who value both solitude and accessibility. Located just 7 minutes from Palm Beach International Airport, 10 minutes to Downtown West Palm Beach, Palm Beach Island, Worth Avenue, and several world-class beaches, it’s easy to enjoy everything the area has to offer without the chaos of staying right in the city. Whether you’re here for a short getaway, an extended work-from-paradise stay, or a romantic escape in nature, Unwind Island offers something truly special: space to breathe, reflect, and reconnect
