The farm you’re camping on is one of the last family farms remaining in Columbia County and is named Glenn Farm after DV Glenn who married Hettie Lou Niblack in the 1930’s. Over the last 150 years it has been farmed by some of the county’s oldest families such as the Niblack and Ellis families. When DV Glenn came to Florida from his farm in Cairo, GA he took over the portion of the Niblack farm that was inherited by his wife Hettie Lou. At that time he was running native Florida cattle on over 6000 acres. Unfortunately, In 1951 he was killed in a hunting accident leaving his wife with the farm and 4 children (ages 4-11). In order to survive, Hettie Lou Niblack Glenn was forced to sell 5000 acres at $25 an acre. Holding a bachelors degree from Florida State College for Women, she was able to secure a job at the University of Florida as a secretary and with the money from the land sale she was able to raise her four children. Of the original farm, 600 acres remain intact and the Glenn family is trying to keep the farm as an agricultural operation. Your campsite is 1 of 4 spots (Arrowhead Sink, Dunagan’s Meadow, North Hall Pasture or Magnolia Sink). We also have a 1 bedroom Tiny home that used to be the farm office. Dunagan’s meadow is a pasture behind the old farmhouse (built in 1824), Magnolia sink and The North Hall Pasture are also on the main farm while Arrowhead Sink is on the edge of a hayfield about a mile down a dirt road. Glenn Farm is a place to come relax and experience a world that is rapidly disappearing. It is not a commercial campground.

Monarch Manor Farm is also an official Monarch Butterfly weigh station and safe respite for migrating butterflies. These beautiful pollinators have been on Earth about 175 million years from what we can gather from fossils. Beyond the splendor that would be lost from the world if monarch butterflies went extinct, there would be ripple effects in the environment.
Monarchs share their habitat with many other species of insects and birds. The birds would lose a food source, and their decline is the proverbial “canary in the coal mine” for other pollinators. If other pollinators decline like monarchs, it could have impacts on the food that humans rely on. This year (2024) we hope to finally get the Monarch Butterfly put on the endangered species list and see them rebound in numbers. So when you stay here you are also making a contribution that provides a safe chemical free environment for these super pollinators to multiply once again.
All three sites are right around the pond with great views. A combination of large live oaks, shade and sun All sites also have a picnic table, fire ring and grill. Site 1 has your choice of 110 and 30amp power. There is no power at site 2, 2A or 3. The bath house is equipped with 2 showers. One shower is heated by geothermal means and the other by a tankless hot water heater for evening showers. There is a foot pedal hand sink, portable-potty, and seating. The farm you’re camping on is one of the last family farms remaining in Columbia County and is named Glenn Farm after DV Glenn who married Hettie Lou Niblack in the 1930’s. Over the last 150 years it has been farmed by some of the county’s oldest families such as the Niblack and Ellis families. When DV Glenn came to Florida from his farm in Cairo, GA he took over the portion of the Niblack farm that was inherited by his wife Hettie Lou. At that time he was running native Florida cattle on over 6000 acres. Unfortunately, In 1951 he was killed in a hunting accident leaving his wife with the farm and 4 children (ages 4-11). In order to survive, Hettie Lou Niblack Glenn was forced to sell 5000 acres at $25 an acre. Holding a bachelors degree from Florida State College for Women, she was able to secure a job at the University of Florida as a secretary and with the money from the land sale she was able to raise her four children. Of the original farm, 600 acres remain intact and the Glenn family is trying to keep the farm as an agricultural operation. Your campsite is 1 of 4 spots (Arrowhead Sink, Dunagan’s Meadow, North Hall Pasture or Magnolia Sink). We also have a 1 bedroom Tiny home that used to be the farm office. Dunagan’s meadow is a pasture behind the old farmhouse (built in 1824), Magnolia sink and The North Hall Pasture are also on the main farm while Arrowhead Sink is on the edge of a hayfield about a mile down a dirt road. Glenn Farm is a place to come relax and experience a world that is rapidly disappearing. It is not a commercial campground.

Monarch Manor Farm is also an official Monarch Butterfly weigh station and safe respite for migrating butterflies. These beautiful pollinators have been on Earth about 175 million years from what we can gather from fossils. Beyond the splendor that would be lost from the world if monarch butterflies went extinct, there would be ripple effects in the environment.
Monarchs share their habitat with many other species of insects and birds. The birds would lose a food source, and their decline is the proverbial “canary in the coal mine” for other pollinators. If other pollinators decline like monarchs, it could have impacts on the food that humans rely on. This year (2024) we hope to finally get the Monarch Butterfly put on the endangered species list and see them rebound in numbers. So when you stay here you are also making a contribution that provides a safe chemical free environment for these super pollinators to multiply once again.
All three sites are right around the pond with great views. A combination of large live oaks, shade and sun All sites also have a picnic table, fire ring and grill. Site 1 has your choice of 110 and 30amp power. There is no power at site 2, 2A or 3. The bath house is equipped with 2 showers. One shower is heated by geothermal means and the other by a tankless hot water heater for evening showers. There is a foot pedal hand sink, portable-potty, and seating. Situated on 5 wooded acres, The FOLC Farm is only minutes from downtown Gainesville and the University of Florida by car or bike trail, and within walking distance of Payne's Prairie State Park La Chua Trail, Boulware Spring, Sweetwater Preserve trail system, and the Hawthorne bike trail. Guests are welcome at the occasional public social events held onsite (separate from the campground). At The FOLC Farm, you will find the perfect blend of nature, culture, and convenience.
At the entrance of the property is a self-contained, family-friendly campground with nine non-electric sites (five tent sites and four car camping sites). You may also rent the entire campground for your private group (usually $300 on weekends, $200 on weekdays — please message to inquire). At the campground, you have access to a shared campfire, picnic tables, grill, composting toilet, sink with running water, shower with hot water, changing room, and some art supplies and games to enjoy during your stay. The host lives on the homestead and is available if you need assistance.
Please note:
The five tent sites are within the campground circle where no cars are allowed for camper safety. The parking area is within 150 feet (45 meters) of the various sites, and a cart is available to move your gear. Sites are 25–50 feet (8–15 meters) apart.
Dogs are not allowed for the safety and comfort of other campers. If your private group is renting the whole campground, you may bring a leashed pet when it is not in your tent or van.
If you are looking for a single private campsite far from town, this is not for you. However, if you would like to experience a campground on a working homestead and learning center, with the ability to interact with other guests if you wish, while still being conveniently close to downtown and trail systems, this is a great fit.
This wooded 5-acre property is very close to thousands of acres of state park land and also adjacent to a rural/suburban neighborhood. Therefore, you can expect to hear both typical neighborhood sounds (cars, children) as well as wildlife such as Barred Owls, Sandhill Cranes, and occasional deer visits.

The farm has been in my family since the early 60's. I purchased it from my Mom in 2011 after my Dad passed away, hoping and wanting to improve it for the enjoyment of others. Escape to Moonlit Avenue - A private treelined driveway leads to the primitive campsite with bathhouse nearby where the deer (and sometimes turkeys) have a regular route along with other forest animals and insects; birds abound in the trees. Goats, chickens (including a rooster), dogs and cats are domesticated nearby.

The FOLC Farm was a fantastic location for camping, with clean sites and easily accessible amenities. The location's closeness to Gainesville proper and Paynes Prairie gave it a unique feeling of being somewhat out in the wilderness, while simultaneously having quick access to markets, festivals, and generally urban conveniences. 10/10 would recommend if you're looking for a nice campground that's not too far from both city and natural attractions.

Fantastic location super close to populated downtown Gainesville, great place to camp out for football or sporting events clean bathroom facility, and great hot showers would highly recommend for family camping or just a great weekend retreat also super close to Paynes, Prairie State Park, and lots of great hiking and walking areas with amazing birds/wildlife right down the road. There’s also great food in downtown Gainesville. Which as I said is only a few minutes away.
The host also offers really cool first-aid classes you can sign up for through her website, which I highly recommend!
10/10 would stay here again!

Loved camping at the FOLC Farm! Spent 7 nights there during a WFR course, really enjoyed the location. The campsite is clean and private. The outdoor shower has hot water, which was really nice. There’s a lot to do in the surrounding area, with nice trails within walking distance and downtown just a couple minutes drive too. 10/10 would recommend

Friendly host, great camp spot with a white-sand river and beautiful woods. The grounds were full of amenities like fire rings, hammocks, and chairs. There were even extras such as a trampoline and various yard games. The gated site made the whole place feel safe and secluded. We were only one of two groups there during our stay. By far, these were some of the best outhouses I’ve encountered—complete with working lights and a hand-washing sink between the two stalls. Definitely a place worth staying!

O'Leno State Park & River Rise
A few miles north of High Springs, O’Leno State Park offers excellent fishing along the Santa Fe River, challenging anglers to reel in large-mouth bass and sunfish. The park’s 11 miles of hiking and biking trails connect with the River Rise Preserve State Park trail system, providing chances to spot wildlife like deer, turkey, and wild rabbits. The park has both primitive and well-appointed RV campsites with electrical hookups in a pet-friendly setting. It also hosts festivals year-round with live music, food vendors, and activities for the whole family.
Ichetucknee Springs State Park
Enjoy tubing down the Ichetucknee River year-round at Ichetucknee Springs State Park. Tubers can bring their own inflatables or rent them within the park. Float from Midpoint Launch to Dampier’s Landing, then use the concession tram service or hiking trail to return to the parking lot. Or, paddle down the river in canoes and kayaks, spotting wading birds, river otters, and manatees in their natural wetland habitat. Experienced swimmers will enjoy snorkeling and scuba diving at Blue Hole Spring, exploring underwater caves among warm cyan waters shared by turtles and fish.
Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park
With diverse wildlife and scenic landscapes, Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park offers terrific opportunities to reconnect with nature. Wild horses and bison freely roam expansive prairies, while hundreds of bird species fill the trees and skies. Follow the LaChua Trail to the 50-foot observation tower for panoramic views of wet prairie and marsh habitats. Then set up at one of the park’s back-in RV sites with 30-amp electric hookups. Most can accommodate RVs up to 58 feet in length. The well-shaded campground also houses tents and provides accessible hot showers, restrooms, and ranger-led campfire programs from November to February.
When to go
Florida summers near High Springs can be hot and humid, with temperatures rising well into the 90s. Spring and fall are enjoyable times of the year to go camping—not just for the milder weather. Migratory birds like swallow-tailed kites with their impressive aerial acrobatics nest in the area during spring. Bass, bluegill, and crappie tend to be more active during spring and fall too, making for excellent fishing opportunities.
