Weekend Trip to Black Horse Resort Ranch Campground

Black horse ranch was my first time using Hipcamp and if all places are as amazing as this I will be using them all the time. Danielle and her workers were friendly and amazing. The property was huge and clean. There was so much offered. A communal Kitchen, game room, suoer nice bath house and laundry house. A POOL!! Horse stables and trails. The campsites seemed great I was in 7 right next to the bathhouse since I was in a camper van which was great for me. I also met several other people who stay there during the winter with their horses and they were so friendly. I honestly can’t say enough good things about Black horse ranch. If you are in the area or can make a trip that way please do!

Courtney and Franky were really cool. They have great hospitality and are down to earth. They helped us with wood, setting up, understanding the natural habitats around the area and so much more. There aren't words enough to explain the amazing vibe of this place.....just book a site. We recommend the Tikka masala add on. Beautifully done 4 course meal, fine dinning meal in a laid back casual setting with one of a kind hosts! Kudos Christina and Kennedy can't wait to return for a 3 retreat!

Weekend Trip to True Trail Farm

We were looking for a fun place to take our grandkids for their first camping experience and The Goat Farm did not disappoint! Mike and Kathryn were gracious and fun hosts. The kids loved getting to feed and play with all the animals, especially baby Tiger Lily, and hunting for bowling balls!. We might make it an annual trip so we can see the animals grow up and grow in numbers.

The campground has 4-5 camping spots. This allows each camper a sense of privacy and separation from the other sites. It is very peaceful and being able to interact with the animals is very special. The bathroom and shower were a welcome addition. Kathryn is a great host who is friendly and very helpful. We enjoyed sitting by the campfire and by the goat pen talking together. She and Mike were very willing to help when I needed an extra pair of hands. They also told me about special events, like the annual Dog Parade and the weekly flea market.

2 nights at Home of Many Miniature Animals

Little bit of our farm life was such a great site! My kids and I had an amazing experience. We camped for two nights and had the entire place to ourselves. The camping area was clean, so was the port-o-potty, and shower. My kids and I got to run around and play kickball. Every morning we were woken up by the cutest farm animals, and greeted by two beautiful pups that joined my kids in playing ball. The owners of the farm are very nice and were quick to respond to all messages. One of the best parts of our entire trip was the farm tour given by Olivia. She was very informative and patient with my inquisitive six-year-old and gave us extra time with Archie, the Highland cow (my kids had to pull me away from him) and all of the goats who my kids fell in love with in fact, I had to promise my kids that we'd come back when the mama goat Addie gave birth to see the kids. I definitely recommend this site and we will be back very soon.

I was out on the lake—it was peaceful. Yet behind all that, there’s this wooded area just sitting there, full of potential. If they listed the property on Worldpackers, HelpX, and Workstay, they could bring in a crew of work-trade travelers and build out an entire mountain bike park in the woods. It’d be sick—all powered by people looking to trade labor for a place to stay. There are already some hippie types turning part of the land into a sustainable, organic farm. They could list that on WWOOF and grow it into something big. That old Airbnb building? Perfect for a farm-to-table restaurant. Bring in the guy with the smoker, use the produce from the farm, bass from the lake—bam, gluten-free, lake-to-table, farm-to-table cuisine. You’d have hang gliding, mountain biking, organic farming, all built and run by workstay folks. It’s a story people want to be part of. They could host RVers through Harvest Hosts too, share the whole story and let people experience it firsthand. If I owned that land, that’s what I’d do. You don’t need cash to get started—you just need people and a vision. I’d hire a promoter and say, “Fly your plane down to our airstrip, grab some BBQ, enjoy the trails, try hand gliding and eat fresh from the land.” Tell ’em: “We built our own Valmont-style bike park—powered by travelers and vision.” There are tons of people out there looking to build something real. That land is just waiting.

Listening to the sounds of the animals when I woke up was my favorite part during the stay in this place. Our stay at Home of Many Miniature Animals was incredible! The highlight was the animal tour with our host, Olivia—she was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about caring for these adorable creatures. She took the time to introduce us to each animal, sharing fun facts and interesting stories that made the experience even more special. The campsite itself was peaceful and well-maintained, making for a relaxing getaway. Waking up to the sounds of nature and being surrounded by friendly miniature animals was truly unique. If you’re an animal lover or just looking for a fun and educational experience, this place is a must-visit! The main reason we camped here was to be close to the Mount Dora Bike Trail for some mountain biking, and this location was perfect for that. After a great day on the trails, coming back to such a peaceful and unique campsite made the trip even better.

Rennigers Antique Center is located right up the street (less than 5 minutes away) for some great picking. We are conveniently close to the Central Florida Attractions and the beach on both east and west coasts within an hour drivep. A few Campers favorite places to visit are Mount Dora Bike Trail - 2.6 miles, Kelly Park - 11 miles and Kings Landing 12 miles from farm. We offer youth day camps on various dates, pony rides and a tour of our farm animals for an additional fee. Reservations required in advance due to the other activities we have going on. In 2007, we had no idea where this adventure was going to take us. Our small urban farm was sharing our miniature animals with assisted living facilities and Neulife, where we have 3 miniature horses that live on their property. Little by little we have evolved into more of a need to share with the community and help others with the relaxing qualities our farm and animals have to offer, we want to be able to share and better educate with hands on experiences, teach kindness, patience, confidence and help others to be the best they can be.
