5 J’s Camp is completely private 2.5 acres that backs the Ocala National Forest in Umatilla . This our family getaway, we are a family of 5 and we all have names that start the letter J. There are endless places to put a tent including by the lake, or completely private areas, or by the common areas to be close to a bathroom and kitchen and pavilion, water and electric. The amenities include a pavilion with an outside kitchen, dinning and living area. There is also a ( large shed converted to a ) cook shack with a full size fridge, microwave, electric burners and a toaster oven. There is also a bathroom with a full-size shower/tub, hot water and a toilet. It comes with all of the basics to be comfortable while you camp. Also, you have a good chance of being alone. we usually only book 1 party at a time, Just message me to confirm. The property has enough lighting to completely light up the common area. There is also water and electric all over the property. There is a shooting range right outside of the property that is part of the forest. There is Blue Sink several miles away, it is a spring feed swimming hole that is deep enough for SCUBA. There is horse trails and OHV trails as well. This camp was a hunting camp and still has an huge animal cleaning station on the back side of the property, with water, drainage, power, lighting and all stainless steel sinks and counters. Come to play and explore or come to relax. Our camp is always (slowly)being Improved, you might see work in progress so be aware there may be a consolidated area that looks messy. This is a camp, everything gets dusty, and there are bugs. We keep the yard kept up and do what we can to limit bugs in the common area. I recommend a 4x4 although I don’t own one my self. The roads are usually decent, but the weather has a lot to do with roads in the forest.

However, we don't recommend you go walking out into the swampy brush area, as there is a lot of Florida native wildlife like snakes and etc. and we want you to be safe. We live and work on the property ourselves, and are just a short walk or phone call away. This is a very private place, no close neighbors. Our goal is to give you all the space and privacy you need and or require. Most of our guests are here to participate at an event at the Daytona 500 track. Weekend Trip to Serene Forested Blueberry Farm

What a great experience with had at Cassandra's beautiful place. First off, she was super nice and accommodating. We expected just an empty spot but she managed to give us a table, power and water which made a huge difference. Also, she left us a table and all the necessary things to make our fire and barbeque. As a bonus, we made friends with the people staying in the vintage campers and cooper (the cat) was not only friendly, but we felt like he was there to protect us. :) We collected eggs from the chicken and made some good breakfast. Showering under the sky was also an experience on its own. The location feels very strategic due to its proximity to multiple water springs 100% recommended!

What a lovely campground! I didn’t arrive until around midnight. The owner left lights on for me and met me out there to show me where the outhouse and showers were! There were also extras left for me that I didn’t get a chance to use but would’ve been nice touches; bbq grill, wood, a table with a tablecloth, tiki torches, dish rack, water hose, and a power strip attached to electric!

Had an amazing stay at Hookie’s Hideaway Forest Camp! Cassandra was a fantastic host—super friendly and welcoming. The outdoor shower with hot water was a great touch, and the campsite itself was peaceful and well-maintained. It’s a fantastic spot to visit with kids, and we loved getting fresh eggs from the farm’s chickens. Beautiful, relaxing vibes all around, and the location is perfect—close to the springs. Highly recommend!

Weekend Trip to 5 J’s Camp

This campsite had all the amenities you need to enjoy your stay. The location itself is beautiful and the hosts were some of the nicest people you can meet. Checked up on our group a few times to see if there was anything else they can do to ensure we had a pleasant time. The campsite itself is very generous with its space and the hut provided sufficient light that helped set up the tent at night when we got to the site. Lots of outlets and a decent sized fridge that we kept our food in to not attract animals. Shower is nothing to write home about, but it worked and the warm water felt nice after a long day of hiking around. The hosts provided us with lots of appliances that we were able to use to help heat up our coffee and food. Had a very nice couch area that we stayed around during the day. The firepit is pretty big and the hosts were gracious enough to leave us some wood ready for us to use when creating a fire. Overall 10/10 expierence, and will be returning sometime soon.

Good campground that worked out great for us to visit our close friends in Palatka. Utilities were all in working order. Sites are sandy, as is expected in this part of FL, but fairly level. Our site 28 was good to get in and out of. Hip camp gave us site 25 but the host said there is no electricity there, a problem she says with Hipcamp app.

Beautiful quiet spot in the middle of the woods next to a very pretty lake. I'm sure there were fish there but I'm real bad at fishing. This saint of a host was about to come help us get our car unstuck on Thanksgiving morning, luckily a neighbor was able to pull us out. But that's the kind of area you'll be staying in, everyone was so kind and helpful. The site had everything that we needed for a long stay. It was a luxury to be able to bring out stuff like steaks and lots of beer and not worry about it getting warm on us. Will book again once I upgrade my ride. Cannot recommend enough they are wonderful hosts 🙌❤️

Haw Creek Preserve State Park

Abutting the southern part of Crescent Lake, Haw Creek Preserve State Park surrounds a blackwater creek that attracts paddlers wanting to take in views of the surrounding Florida cypress swamp. It's also a great place for birdwatching, particularly in the winter, when migratory birds flock to the area from the cooler north.

Dunns Creek Wildlife Management Area

Encompassing over 3,000 acres on the eastern part of Duns Creek, this preserved area is full of wildlife, ranging from frogs and lizards to white-tailed deer and bobcats. Birders bring your binoculars for a chance to spot yellow-crowned night herons, barred owls, and red-shouldered hawks. If you're coming to fish, your best bet is to come in late spring or early summer during the spawning season.
