Caroline County Maryland is a wonderful place to visit with plenty of opportunities for boating, fishing, hiking in nearby Martinak and Tuckahoe State Parks,Adkins Arboretum, access to public boat ramps, touring the Harriett Tubman Byway,produce stands, wineries, orchards,and close proximity to the Maryland and Delaware beaches as well as Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge in neighboring Dorchester County. We're also less than two hours from Washington D.C., and Baltimore, and less than an hour from our state capitol, Annapolis.

HORSES WELCOME! Why not run your horse on the beach, then come to our campsites to relax for the rest of your day. There is a fenced pasture positioned next to the sites so you can see your faithful friend enjoying some grass or hay. We have a new Zinger 29' trailer set up with a bunk room and another bedroom, full kitchen and bathroom. It can easily sleep six people. If you have your own RV, we have a full hook up at the same area. The pasture where your horse stays will also have hay, water and shelter with a run-in. This is a sanctuary for our animals. We have nine animals here, four horses (some minnies) and five donkeys (some minnies). By staying here, you will be helping us to support our animals. We are in Frankford, De which is close to all the beaches and parks. There are many shopping adventures awaiting you, either outlets or upcycle stores. If you just want to relax, there is a small pond out back stocked with bass and turtles. We have 17+ acres but we only use the front five acres and leave the rest for the deer, foxes, eagles, hawks and whatever else shows up. We believe this is Heaven on earth and would love to share it will you. So please come, stay at our farm and relax. We are here year round.

Just minutes from popular Fair Hill Maryland State Park Fairgrounds and Elk Neck State Park and Lighthouse. Nestled in a wooded setting with open fields to view an array of wildlife. Learn about Amish way of life. Enjoy a variety of farm animals as well as wildlife. Milk a Cow. Collect farm eggs. Amish buggy rides and farm tours every day but Sundays. Sites 1, 2, 3 and 4 can accommodate tent campers and RVs. Sites 1 2 and 3 are approximately 10 ft apart and spacious. all sites have fire pits. Site 1 ,2 ,3 and 4 have picnic tables. All Sites have charcoal grills. Will need your own charcoal, lighter fluid and foil for grate. Site 3 also has a grill attached to pit. What to expect..This is a farm with many animals so please be aware that the rooster may crow very early. The goats may be noisy at anytime day or night. Most cases they are quiet at night but not always. The cows bellow and horses will whinny throughout the day. Farms also have farm smells so be aware it is not always pleasant. For the most part the campfires over ride the farm smells which is great!! Please check our add ons. We will have fire wood available for purchase if you need it. Farm fresh eggs and seasonal garden vegetables may also be available. Amish baked goods may be purchased when available.We are 5 minutes from a 5000 acre park that boasts miles of marked trails for horseback riding, hiking or biking through rough or paved terrain. We loved the island and La Mar was an amazing host. 5 of us spent a weekend on the island. If you have no experience canoeing, be prepared. Being from NYC, we are inexperienced and it took us an hour to row the mile to the island against the tide. if you can get your own power boat to take you there, it will make life a whole lot easier. definitely a challenge, but it was amazing once we made it. The island is relaxing for a weekend. You also get to do some fishing, though we didn't have much luck in October. also - low tide is really low tide. don't plan on going out until the tide comes in a bit. I would recommend taking lots of firewood and a portable toilet.
I can't say enough about how communicative and accommodating La Mar is. We're already talking about our next trip.

Carol and Dan were amazing hosts. I was lucky to be able to move to Willow Oak 3, which was absolutely awesome. Quiet, remote, and utterly perfect. The site was clean with a nice tent pad for comfortable set up. It’s a simple but perfect plot of land to spend a few days.
My dog was also super comfortable and able to be off leash throughout most of the stay.

As a quick getaway we booked La Mar’s island. It’s pretty well kept and has a large campfire area overlooking the water. Easy fishing from the island as long as it’s not low tide. Lots of space to camp with multiple tents if desired. You’re able to watch bald eagles and other wildlife, we even saw an otter. The only downfall is you can hear the highway all night long. I would definitely book again for a quick getaway!

We stayed at Willow oak 1 n had a very nice carefree experience. Large open area, no electricity hior hookups but we did not did anything. We are off loading n self contained. We had site 2. Quiet and peaceful spot all by it's self. Easy to find and back into. There are lots of deer and you will have horses for neighbors :) I stayed a couple nights here as I was hiking near by. There are 3 other Hipcamp sites on the property and even with all of them booked, it was still very quiet. I would stay again if were in the area. Thanks for having us!

Where the Little Touches Make a Big Difference
We stayed recently at Why Not Acres via Hipcamp and it was truly one of the best camping experiences we’ve had. From the moment we arrived, the place exceeded expectations.
What Makes It Special
• Top-notch amenities — They’ve thought of everything to make camping easy and comfortable. Our site came with kindling, firewood, charcoal, and a lighter, plus a fire ring ready to go. Such small touches make a big difference.
• Spotless facilities — The shower rooms and bathrooms were immaculate. Warm water, clean, well-maintained, and plenty of space.
• Friendly, welcoming hosts — Marian (and Mike) were wonderful. Warm, helpful, very responsive, and clearly proud of their land. They greet you like you’re guests in their home, not just customers.
• Peace, space & nature — The property is just stunning. There’s plenty of room, beautiful surroundings. The presence of the horses adds a charming farm-feeling that’s relaxing and fun.
• Convenient, but still quiet — Close enough for trips to the beach and local stores, but far enough removed so you feel like you’re getting away from it all.
As with most rural/farm-type stays, bring your insect repellent.
Why Not Acres is more than just a campsite—it’s a peaceful, well-cared for retreat. The amenities are excellent, the hosts are warm and helpful, and the natural setting is beautiful. If you want comfort and a sense of escape, this is definitely the place. We’ll be back.

We stayed at Why Not Acres for four days and three nights.
it was very nice, the host came and greeted us, told us a little about them and the farm which is a Equine rescue and they have donkeys and horses both normal and minis and across the street is a bison farm.
The shower and bathrooms were outstanding very clean and well supplied.
Each site was spacious came with electric and plenty of firewood.
It was peaceful both night and day.
30 Minutes from Rehoboth Beach 45 Minutes from Lewis, 6 miles from Millsboro which has several gas stations/ convenience stores along with fast food joints and a few nicer restaurants.
Great peaceful place in the middle of nowhere close to a lot.

We had a lovely stay this past weekend! We had the whole place to ourselves which was nice. Dale delivered our firewood and farm fresh eggs right to our campsite upon arrival. Site 5 is the furthest away from the farm market which is where the bathroom and shower are located, maybe a 10 minute walk. The shower is outdoors, but equipped with hot water, enclosed in a stall and very clean. There was some noise from an event being held at the venue behind the market one night, but it was far enough away that it didn’t bother us. The only downsides to the site were lack of shade and privacy from the road that runs behind the property. I would definitely recommend bringing a canopy for shade. If I stayed again, I’d probably choose site 4 as there are tall patches of wildflower meadows in between each site, which provides a little more privacy. Overall, a great place to stay and very convenient for all of the places we wanted to visit nearby!
