Tree huggers unite! This is the promised land. Consisting of two separate forests, the wooded bastions of Mother Nature rise tall and strong in these parts. Each tree is beautiful in its own way, but perhaps no trunk is better for squeezing than those in the 200-year old white pine grove in the Whittemore Recreation Area of the Peoples Forest. One can only hug so many trees, however, so it’s a good thing there are lots of other things to do in the American Legion and Peoples State Forests. The trails that wind through these wooded acres will keep hikers on their feet for days on end. And the waters of the wild and scenic West Branch of the Farmington River attracts kayakers and fishers from all over Connecticut and even neighboring states. But if you want to just come and squeeze an oak, no one will fault you.

Well off the beaten track, it's scenic, private and peaceful. Camping at Moon In The Pond Farm is a bit of heaven. There are separate sites to choose. Around the farm, you have your own secluded spot to enjoy. (Though you may be in a field next to our Scottish Highland cattle!) Two are tent sites: the PondSide and the FieldEdge. There's one site for small/tiny RVs or Campervan. And finally there's the HiddenCabin--a bed a roof and convenience. Each has a firepit with a small grill to cook over the fire. (all firewood provided) Our campsites are in quieter areas of the farm. One overlooks the pond, others are on the edges of different farm fields, one a cabin nearer the farmstead. All require a beautiful, bucolic trek of 150-350 yards from the roadside parking--ensuring the quiet, natural experience. During the day times, you may see or hear farm work. At night it's lusciously dark and serenely quiet. You'll hear owls hoot, frogs croak, crickets chirp, foxes yowl and coyotes howl! In June and July the fields and trees light up like Christmas with fireflies, and you'll see the stars. During the week is the absolute best time--the local hot spots (or cooling down spots!) are much quieter, and all our campsites have reduced weekday rates. If you can, take advantage by adding a Thursday or Sunday night to a weekend stay. We've got an awesome, easy hiking trail on adjacent Nature Conservancy land. It meanders through woodlands, around rock ledges, through wetlands (on a 600' of boardwalk) and ends at a beautiful stream and pond with a gigantic beaver dam. Not far from here are numerous well-marked hiking trails (including the Appalachian Trail (with famous Bash Bish Falls) and several offshoots (Sage's Ravine, Race Brook Falls), Bartholomew's Cobble, Umpacheenee Falls, and others). Also in the neighborhood are opportunities for canoeing, kayaking, swimming, rock climbing, gavel-road and country-road biking, and pretty much any outdoor activity/adventure opportunity. Or... you can just chill and relax, sleep, or read the day away! Love food? This is Farm-to-Table for real! Never so close--the table's AT the farm! Bring your cooking gear and get some of our wicked fresh organic food--veggies, chops, sausages, eggs, bacon, granola, yogurt, etc. Sear yourself up a real treat! Very nearby, as the Berkshires is a cultural mecca, there are also numerous opportunities from many great restaurants to art, dance, music, spas, galleries, antique shops, museums, cafes and much more. We had a great time. This is our second visit to your site. The platform tent is very comfortable for adults and the added classic tent gave us enough room for kids. We really appreciate the firepit, dishes, washing supplies, goats/chickens, and toilet/shower! The location in walking distance to Fahnestock is perfect! Good choice for low key outdoor weekend. If your looking for seclusion with quick river access, surprisingly good reception to listen to tunes on Bluetooth and a site where you barely have to bring anything as everything you’ll need or want is supplied and set up for you then you’ll find it as delightful as I did. Paula and Bill the owners are also the best, they were most helpful in supplying their input on any questions I had. Will def be back, thank you guys

The tiny home / cabin was just perfect. It was on the property of the host's house, but felt very private. Roomier than I even expected, super comfortable, and well built / insulated as there was a pretty big storm the night we stayed and nothing leaked. Well-maintained and thoughtfully done.

Very beautiful property, my favorite part was the outdoor shower. Everything was super clean and the hosts were extremely nice and accommodating. I will say the glamping tent is closer to the house and not as isolated as I expected but other than that peaceful.

Weekend Trip to Hunterbrook Mountain

AMAZING! My husband and I had the best time at this campsite. We only came for a night but we left feeling so rested. We had the best sleep under the stars and the sound of the creek nearby. Stephen sets up the camp with everything you possibly need. Our pup had so much fun exploring and the grounds are kept nice and clean. We can’t wait to return. It’s such an easy drive for us - this might be our new fav spot!

Weekend Trip to Moon In The Pond Farm

We loved our stay at Moon in the Pond Farm. We had our first camping trip with our 8mo and were so pleased with the place. We booked the cabin which offered electricity which we found helpful so we could use a fan in the heat, and have her monitor plugged in while we enjoyed the campfire nearby. Dom had great local recommendations for hiking and watering holes and it was so nice to have farm fresh food, firewood on site and to be able to explore the property and see the farm animals. Our friends were able to book the tent sites on the property and we all communed at our site for meals and a fire. We all said it was a place we would go back to!

My sisters and I stayed at the camp for the weekend. We all had such a good time. It was restful and relaxing, and Maureen was a great host. She was so friendly and knowledgeable. The outhouse didn't even smell bad, and there were fresh flowers left in it. And in the tent We are already planning our next trip. The horses we're so sweet and we even got to see a gaggle of geese. We saw a million stars and built a campfire for smores. And the accommodations were comfortable. And beautiful. It felt like home away from home. Five out of five stars for this amazing stay.

Weekend Trip to Quentins Treehouse

This was our third visit and we had a great time as always. It’s a beautiful spot in a great area. We went swimming in the lake and hung out at the site most of the trip. When we did venture out we visited some of the shops in Lee and hiked at Gould Meadow in Stockbridge. It was a relaxing stay and we had great weather.

We had a great stay! The tent setup was absolutely adorable and thoughtfully put together. It was definitely buggy during our visit, but we were grateful that extra bug spray was provided. The restroom facilities were a wonderful addition and were clean and well-maintained. The hill is no joke, but the listing describes it accurately, so we came prepared. One of the highlights was meeting Evan, Laura, and their beautuful goats and chickens. Overall, a unique and enjoyable experience!

Fern Gully is an absolutely accurate description of this woodland escape. Deep in the forest you will find a whimsically painted A-frame. Highly recommended for your journey to self reflection, practicing your bird song recognition, and reprogramming your natural circadian rhythm. There is a lake conveniently located a few miles away to get a break from the heat.

Weekend Trip to Atland Artist Residency

We loved staying at the tiny cabin. The land is stunning, everything is so well thought out, and as comfortable as camping could be. The outdoor shower was a plus, as well as the clean well maintained compost bathroom. We felt totally comfortable there, and Tori was so kind and welcoming.

🤩 Wow! Next time I’d like to explore these trails because it’s going to take a couple days. The property is huge. If you’re having guest not from the East Coast, I’d come here to have them visit to get the true taste of New England here.

We loved the cabin! there were other tent/glamp sites nearby, and the communal sink with well water was right outside the cabin too. We got to use the wood-heated hot tub - Tori kindly prepared and heated it up in time for our arrival. The tub was a true highlight of the stay, especially with the cool and rainy weather. The trails nearby are worth checking out and we befriended so many newts!
