This property has been in my family for three generations. It is classic Connecticut with hills and streams and stone walls.
The octagon is a private 122 ft.² that is electrified and heated. It has a full size bed, cabinet and table with chairs. It sits next to a brook on 56 acres of forest with a pond, small waterfall, marsh and 2 1/2 miles of hiking trails. There is a fire pit and outdoor dining area next to the octagon. We also have a propane outdoor grill and propane two burner camp stove. Out house with composting toilet close to octagon is heated. A great place to rejuvenate in the forest! Dogs welcome.

Devil’s Hopyard got its name from a couple of different stories, although it does sounds like a great name for a delicious india pale ale. The Hopyard part is in fact believed to have origins tracing back to a farmer who grew hops for brewing near Chapman Falls, the main attraction of this area. The Devil part likely comes from early settlers who tried to explain away the unique potholes in the stone around the waterfall with the supernatural.These potholes are actually perfectly explainable by science, go figure. As stones moved down stream, some would occasionally get trapped in an eddy, causing them to swirl around and erode the rock. The devil story is much more interesting though, which claims that the devil accidentally got his tail wet one day and was so angry, he burned holes in the stones with his hooves. Guess you'll have to go see it for yourself and make up your own mind on what truly happened. While you're there, make sure to check out the awesome hiking, fishing and mountain biking in the area. Devil's Hopyard State Park is just as full of outdoor activities as it is with history.

It is run as a small non-profit animal sanctuary and is home to rescued chickens, goats, and pigs, as well as two humans and their dog and cat companions. The main property is fenced in, with a large back field great for tent camping, and an orchard to explore that can also double as hammock camping. There is parking for cars and bikes. We try to minimize our impact on the environment as much as possible, and encourage our guests to compost, recycle, and dispose of waste accordingly. Please note we have dogs, including a Livestock Guardian Dog that does bark to alert us of new people and warn off would be predators. When you pull in, there is a sign to call and let the host know. Its first come first choice. We arrived around 6pm on a Monday in April and had the place practically to ourselves. There are about 5 spots that are waterfront. The sites have good space between and the host was great. There are port-a-potty options and a dumpster on the way out for trash. Each sop had a fire ring and some had chairs/picnic tables. We had a great stay, the weather was perfect. I felt completely safe here as a female (I know we travel solo sometimes and its important to note)! The host made a few rounds to check on campers and I would definitely stay here again.

This is my first experience at a Hipcamp, and it was top-notch. I had a large, open, quiet, and extremely private area all to myself. There was a nice picnic table, and the host kindly had a pile of kindling set aside for me. There were hawks and falcons in the sky. Highly recommend.

I stayed one night on Jessica’s property and she was exceptionally kind and helpful. I ended up getting in very late and she went above and beyond to communicate with me and try to accommodate my schedule despite it not being her fault that my time was cut short. It was also the first day that she opened her cute little food stand and I bought some truly delicious homemade chocolate chip cookies that weee gooey and salty and perfect and some fresh duck eggs :). Property was lovely and quiet and as described! Would love to come back.

Great location, close to a gas station, the highway and even Walmart is nearby. There's a lake that was really nice to bird watch and saw some kayakers. Peaceful and Tyler is ready to help if anything is needed. Water is available, very convenient and portable bathrooms were decent. Also dumpster on grounds so you can make sure you leave it as clean as you found it. Overall we had a good experience for our first time camping, recommended!

I definitely recommend the dome! The hospitality was excellent. We had our son with us, and they were wonderful with him—they even let him feed the horses, which he loved. The hiking was beautiful, and one of the best parts was how close the horses were to the dome—you can literally see them right nearby.
The only thing we were a little disappointed about was that the dome wasn’t lit up at night like the photo on the page shows. We were really looking forward to seeing it all colorful and glowing.
Overall, it was a great experience and we truly enjoyed our stay.

This was a great place to come and just sit back relax. The host greeted me upon arrival was definitely very flexible. Messaging me in between times easy directions to find a lot of stores nearby for groceries etc. needs before you get to your destination there’s lotta wood surrounding the area for firewood. The outhouse/bathroom is pretty accommodating in my opinion State parks need to updo their bathrooms so it’s nice to see an outhouse that was up kept. Definitely will be back. My son has sensory issues at times when smelling a farm there’s nothing but the woods you smell. I know some people ask about that only campfire and the s’mores you be making thank you again. I had a jeep and was able to come up to the campsite.
