Our RV Park in South Fork CO has space for 18 R.V.’s. Each site has full hookups with the majority being 50amp service and are oversized so that they can handle any big rig! There is a shower house and laundry facility available for our guests (seasonal). There is more than ample parking and each site is easy to access.

We are 32728 hwy 149 Creede. 11 miles towards Lake City on hwy 149. Pull all through the Cabins and either turn left up the little hill camping anywhere, but keep the fire pit open for everyone. Or drive through the green gate past cabin #7 and camp in the pasture. Bathhouse is in the middle of the cabins. (No Bathhouse or water after September 15th.) Fire pit and picnic table are on the hill. You can have dogs off leash anywhere away from the cabins and RV sites, just be careful as we have horses, we don't want the pup's getting kicked. Nestled in the heart of the San Luis Valley at the entrance to Penitente Canyon and Special Recreation Management Area and 50 minutes to Great Sand Dunes National Park, San Luis Valley Great Outdoors welcomes all guests to come and enjoy their cabins at Tin Can Camp. Tin Can Camp is located within 200 acres of Colorado State Trust Land at roughly 8,000 feet above sea level. The landscape is arid high desert with scattered groves of piñon and juniper trees. The camp serves as a convenient home base for launching adventures across the San Luis Valley to various local Hot Springs, archeological sites, and other small town local attractions. For the more adventurous guests, there is recreation right from Tin Can Camp with The Valleys largest trail system and climbing area less than a mile away and access to the vast expanse of the Rio Grande National Forest.
The cabins are "micro homes" outfitted with modern conveniences. Each cabin has solar power, a propane heater, a compact kitchen with a sink, water jugs, and pump, two full size loft beds, a small table with chairs, and a covered porch. Guests should know there is no water available on the property. You will need to bring water for all your needs. This includes cooking, washing, drinking, and for putting out fires. Guest should plan 2 gallons of water per person per day. A public well/pumphouse is at the intersection of County Road 38A and Road 40G (37.836363, -106.271551)(inoperable as of 7/11/2024- BLM working to fix it).
Tin Can Camp is adjacent to the future Sangre de Cristo Dark Sky Reserve, and the property has spectacular views of the Milky Way Galaxy. Each cabin has a fire ring for guests to relax and enjoy the dark nighttime sky. Wood collecting on the property is not permitted, so guests must bring their own firewood.
As mentioned, the property is located at the entrance to Penitente Canyon. Penitente Canyon is a Nationally-renowned climbing destination with more than 400 climbing routes. Penitente Canyon also has 30+ miles of non-motorized trails for mountain biking, hiking, and equestrian activities and guest have direct trail access from camp!
Guests can ride mountain bikes directly from the property. There are numerous recreation, sightseeing, historical and cultural, and agricultural tourism opportunities in the nearby Rio Grande National Forest, Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve, and Sangre de Cristo National Heritage Area.
Gas, ice, water, and some groceries can be found nearby at the La Garita Trading Post, which has operated since 1913. The La Garita Trading Post is in a historic log cabin and serves the best local-beef burgers in the San Luis Valley.

The Spruce Lodge, originally built in 1927 in South Fork, CO, is located near the Rio Grande River at the foot of the San Juan Mountains and provides an environment of warm hospitality in a relaxed atmosphere. Historically accommodating workers for the Sawmill in the 1920's, The Spruce Lodge was purchased in May of 2022 with a primary purpose of housing adults who are participating in a Gap Year program designed to mentor new adults and serve the South Fork community.
The property continues to operate as a hotel and has undergone extensive updates to all of the rooms. We have 8, 30 amp RV spots available to rent from April to October. Our small RV lot allows for a less crowded RV experience with all the same, beautiful views and access to all the area has to offer. And we have the most affordable rates in South Fork! Most of our RV guests end up extending their stay to take advantage of all the outdoor activities South Fork and the San Luis Valley have to offer. Nestled in the heart of the San Luis Valley at the entrance to Penitente Canyon and Special Recreation Management Area and 50 minutes to Great Sand Dunes National Park, San Luis Valley Great Outdoors welcomes all guests to come and enjoy their cabins at Tin Can Camp. Tin Can Camp is located within 200 acres of Colorado State Trust Land at roughly 8,000 feet above sea level. The landscape is arid high desert with scattered groves of piñon and juniper trees. The camp serves as a convenient home base for launching adventures across the San Luis Valley to various local Hot Springs, archeological sites, and other small town local attractions. For the more adventurous guests, there is recreation right from Tin Can Camp with The Valleys largest trail system and climbing area less than a mile away and access to the vast expanse of the Rio Grande National Forest.
The cabins are "micro homes" outfitted with modern conveniences. Each cabin has solar power, a propane heater, a compact kitchen with a sink, water jugs, and pump, two full size loft beds, a small table with chairs, and a covered porch. Guests should know there is no water available on the property. You will need to bring water for all your needs. This includes cooking, washing, drinking, and for putting out fires. Guest should plan 2 gallons of water per person per day. A public well/pumphouse is at the intersection of County Road 38A and Road 40G (37.836363, -106.271551)(inoperable as of 7/11/2024- BLM working to fix it).
Tin Can Camp is adjacent to the future Sangre de Cristo Dark Sky Reserve, and the property has spectacular views of the Milky Way Galaxy. Each cabin has a fire ring for guests to relax and enjoy the dark nighttime sky. Wood collecting on the property is not permitted, so guests must bring their own firewood.
As mentioned, the property is located at the entrance to Penitente Canyon. Penitente Canyon is a Nationally-renowned climbing destination with more than 400 climbing routes. Penitente Canyon also has 30+ miles of non-motorized trails for mountain biking, hiking, and equestrian activities and guest have direct trail access from camp!
Guests can ride mountain bikes directly from the property. There are numerous recreation, sightseeing, historical and cultural, and agricultural tourism opportunities in the nearby Rio Grande National Forest, Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve, and Sangre de Cristo National Heritage Area.
Gas, ice, water, and some groceries can be found nearby at the La Garita Trading Post, which has operated since 1913. The La Garita Trading Post is in a historic log cabin and serves the best local-beef burgers in the San Luis Valley.

HISTORIC SPRUCE LODGE
A rich history that goes back to the 1920's and listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The Spruce Lodge, originally built in 1927 in South Fork, CO, is located near the Rio Grande River at the foot of the San Juan Mountains and provides an environment of warm hospitality in a relaxed atmosphere. Historically accommodating workers for the Sawmill in the 1920's, The Spruce Lodge was purchased in May of 2022 with a primary purpose of housing adults who are participating in a Gap Year program designed to mentor new adults and serve the South Fork community.
The property continues to operate as a hotel and has undergone extensive updates to all of the rooms. We have 8, 30 amp RV spots available to rent from April to October. Our small RV lot allows for a less crowded RV experience with all the same, beautiful views and access to all the area has to offer. And we have the most affordable rates in South Fork! Most of our RV guests end up extending their stay to take advantage of all the outdoor activities South Fork and the San Luis Valley have to offer. Everything was fantastic except for the fact that there was no mention that the incinerating toilets were removed! :( Instead, there was an outhouse/porta potty situation which wasn’t too bad all things considered, I just wish communication would have been a bit more transparent given that there was plenty of time/ways to do so.

The cabin had everything we needed. Location was beautiful. We were there for the Sandhills crane migration and it was an easy commute to the wildlife refuge. Everything was as advertised and we had pretty decent privacy. Cabin was perfect for a home base when our hiking or enjoying the scenery.

What a wonderful reasonably priced off season 5 night RV park stay!
The host, Lulu, was friendly, engaging-not intrusive and very knowledgeable of the area. She has built an amazing and welcoming community. The camp workers on site were always available, happily helpful and great to interact with, specifically Cody. The park itself is well organized, clean with level sites. The comfortable clubhouse has everything you need to relax and socialize (wood burning stove) games, large screen TV, activities and a kitchen with well stocked tools and appliances. The laundry has $2.00 machines! and there’s a great roomy shower area. During warmer months there’ll be plenty to do in the designated areas.
The park is close to a main road but traffic noise is minimal at night. It is situated with amazing mountain views and night sky viewing.
I highly recommend an Aspen Ridge RV Park stay!

Our stay at Slice of Heaven exceeded our high expectations. When we arrived we were greeted by the host and given a full rundown of the property. Tricia was very generous and made sure we were going to enjoy our stay. We arrived at night to a very cozy remote cabin. The wood burning stove was fully stocked and created a warm environment. My group of six all had comfortable sleeping situations and were able to cook full meals in the well stocked kitchen. We were only able to stay one night and weren’t able to fully check out the property but, from what we saw we were thoroughly impressed. If I’m ever back in Colorado I would love to stay here again. Overall, I would highly recommend staying here!

This place was great! So thoughtfully designed -- even though there aren't any trees, the campsites are situated so that you can't really see one another when you're in your little space. Lots of little touches, like the lights along the pathway, a nice playground in the park, the cantina in the middle, make it a really pleasant stay. And the showers! Very very nice showers. The host, Adam, was really friendly and accommodating, and we had a really nice stay the very last day of the season. Will definitely return!

This is in an open space with mountains behind you and fields in front. Such a peaceful space with a sky full of stars. Plus, just a 30 min walk away is this wonderful historic church. The walk was easy and beautiful. Visiting that church was a nice spiritual experience. We settled into our space nicely and slept comfortably. Very Cool Space!

This is a little secret I hate to let people know about. We were the only ones camping this week. We had the entire place to ourselves. We ran into the owner and 2 ranch hands a couple of times, but besides that we were all alone. The owner and ranch hands were extremely nice. The fly fishing was top notch. I fished for 3 days and caught 15-18 inch trout every day. The river was maintained very well. We were here the first week of October and the colors of the trees was unbelievable.
My wife wanted seclusion, river, and colors. I wanted fly fishing. We got everything we both wanted.
I want to visit this ranch again.

Beautiful spot on the river! County rd next to it but is rarely used. I did have some families of Amish drive by in horse and buggy. Good fishing. River was low but I managed a handful over a day and a half, one 18”. Height of leaves changing and so colors were amazing. Great hosts. Provide all firewood too!
