Moab is 25 miles to our North, about a 30 minute drive. The nearest convenience store/gas station is in the tiny town of La Sal, 12 miles NE of us. Although the Lasal Jct. now has burger truck, showers, ice and snacks. The nearby La Sal mountains rise to over 12,000 in elevation and is a great place to get out of the heat and enjoy lakes surrounded by beautiful pine and aspen forests. As the name suggests, Where The Wild Things Camp truly is wild and not for everyone. We are off grid, meaning there is NO electricity, no drinking water, and only "spotty" cell phone service is best just anywhere before bathrooms. Make sure to check the weather forecast before coming out and be prepared for anything as the weather here in the desert can be unpredictable and ALWAYS stake down your tents! It doesn’t take long after pulling off onto the road that leads to Kelly Place to notice that you are now on sacred grounds. We only spent 2 nights there, but that was enough to get the understanding that this was a place of uniquenesses that held a certain amount of powers. I’m yet uncertain how long it might take to come to grips with it what’s held there, but I’m very grateful for the time allotted and will soon return for a deeper connection. If you have a spiritual side to yourself and this comes up on your radar, by all means necessary book it and thank not only me later, but more importantly those that have taken the oath to keep this spirit alive and well. 5,000 ⭐️’s is the rating if possible. Weekend Trip to High Sage Hogans

We had such a great stay! The tipi was a really cool and unique camping experience, close enough to Moab to get to everything easily, but far enough away to avoid the hustle and bustle of town. It was peaceful, quiet, and exactly what we were looking for. Our favorite part of the trip was definitely Ringo, the sweet dog on the property. He “showed us around” and played with our dog the entire stay. Watching them run and explore together was honestly a highlight. Danny was incredibly kind and hospitable. He checked in on us, made sure we were comfortable, and you can tell he genuinely cares about his guests having a good experience. We’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend!

Camping at Where The Wild Things Camp was a main highlight of our 10 day camping road trip through CA, Utah, New Mexico and CO. The campsite is set in the most incredibly gorgeous landscape, its pure magic. Each site has a beautifully crafted campfire location and the porter potty was spotless. A short walk away is a really incredible rock formation that you can climb into. It’s like a giant amphitheater with a cave at the top. We look forward to coming back on day :)

5 nights at Dolores River Rim Camp

We stayed at Old Corrals in our 47’ fifth wheel with two dogs and loved every minute. The site sits on huge open cattle lands that back up to almost two million acres of national forest — pure space and silence. Trails go on forever, from dirt roads to faint animal paths. During the fall rut we heard elk calls echoing across the hills, and the cattle wandered by like friendly neighbors. Hiking from camp brought sweeping views of the desert below, a winding river, and distant mountains. There are ancient Pueblo ruins nearby and endless public lands to explore. Joe was a great host — friendly, helpful, and clearly proud of his land. Even though he was out working fences, we rarely saw another soul. Note for big rigs: the last few miles are on unpaved road. It’s smoother than expected, but if rain is coming, plan to head out early — it turns impassable when wet. We’ll definitely be back.

This was a great place to camp. We were the only ones there so it was nice and quiet. My 7 year old loved to explore all the camps site with the unique decor. Definitely would camp there again. I wouldn’t recommend getting there after dark. It was just a bit tricky in the day light.

Very private tent site, incredible view of Cortez and the mountains in the distance. Nice for stargazing too. The tent sites were so private no one would know you were there. Nice rustic cg. The facilities were clean and maintained. Every possible kitchen appliance was available for your use. As a tent camper the elephant in the room was the road noise. I understand that's not something the owner can control but for some it could be a deal breaker - generally I was so tired from hiking it did not matter.

Easy in and out with full hookups. Gorgeous views. I worked from my camper on the weekdays that we were there and I could watch the sunrise from my desk and at night we could watch the sunset. After dark the stars were amazing!

Weekend Trip to High Sage Hogans

The set up inside and out of the tipi was so nice and welcoming. Danny was so friendly we really enjoyed visiting with him. And of course who can forget Ringo. Such a great pup. I loved spending time with him.

1 night at CampV Colorado

I found this camp at the last minute, while pulled over on the side of the road. It was awesome! The owner came and showed me around and advised me on working the hot shower. There.was a pond, total privacy, with everything I needed. It was lovely and I would definitely recommend staying at CampV!

3 nights at Where The Wild Things Camp

Amazing camp. Unbelievable views. So much fun hiking around the campsite and exploring the local arch and rock outcroppings. My buddy and I took out 4 year olds out to this camp for 3 nights of camping while visiting the Moab area and it was one of my favorite campsites I've ever booked. 10/10 would recommend.

1 night at Anasazi Sites @ Ancient Echoes

Our stay was wonderful. The directions easy to follow so we didn’t have to rely on gps. The camping site was sheltered which was a appreciated as it was a a windy night and we have a roof tent, we had our own bathroom which was very clean and hot shower. The jewel was the lodge which was open to us and we enjoyed the comfortable space to have tea and meet other guests. We walked the property in the morning after a homemade breakfast from our host ( worth it!) . We would love to come back.
