Site 1, RV or Tent, next to a dock
A great way to visit Palisade
We tent camped in site 1 which is also designated for RVs. The best parts about the site were: 1) the view of the mesas and sunsets reflected in the water, 2) canoe and kayak free to use, 3) convenient to the port a potty, 4) plenty of space for an 8-person tent, plus our Tacoma. I should also say that Mike is very responsive and friendly, and we had great experiences meeting some of our campground neighbors.
Things I wished for: This site has no trees, so be aware that you may want a pop-up shelter if you don’t have an RV. (There is a gazebo between site 1 and 2 that provides shade and a sweet view of the lake.) Also be aware that this is in-town camping vs being out in nature. If you want to visit Palisade and the wineries it’s perfect. If you’re looking for more wilderness and solitude, then aim for a campground further away from town. However, if you don’t mind that your view includes the owners’ home across the lake, then this campground is a great location.
Shout out to the neighbors who zipped up our rain fly while we were out before a massive downpour! We also enjoyed getting to know our neighbors in site 2 on our last night.

Beautiful view by the lake
Mike is a great host! Very welcoming and even shared some Colorado peaches with us! Private site with a beautiful view by the lake and mountains.

Beautiful right on the dock with a Mountain View. Easy to find even in the dark. Perfect little fire ring.

Site 3 TENT, most private site, WOW
This is such a beautiful spot. Convenient, close to necessities but peaceful. Our Host Mike was helpful and super cool when we booked a last minute extra night and decided to move to a different site then changed our minds and went back to our first one. All of the sites are nice. We liked site one because of the dock and proximity to the main dock. We taught our 110 lb Rottie pup (who has been terrified of water since we got him) to swim and enjoyed the kayaks and canoes and cooling off in the water. We will definitely visit again.

Good time by the pond (with dogs!)
This was a nice spot by the lake that was made very private by parking our 23' van adjacent to the picnic table. Access is super easy - my wife drove separately in a low-clearance sports car and had no issues. The location is set around one of 4 small lakes that are right next to the Colorado River, so there was abundant wildlife - I even saw 4 river otters early in the morning. Our 3 dogs loved it - the neighboring campers all had dogs and all were well-behaved, even if there was a little bit of across the lake barking at first.
The only negatives were the following. Acknowledging that this was a holiday weekend, there was a party somewhere nearby that had a loud band playing until around midnight. There was also a surprising amount of engine noise from I-70 and local roads on both nights that we camped there. There were also, understandably, a lot of bugs. Be sure to bring earplugs and bug dope and you should be fine.

Nice site
The views were great. It wasn't too crowded, most sites were empty so it was really quiet. Being so close to town was nice, made it easy to run and grab anything we might have forgotten. The tent sites felt kind of close, so I'd probably rent two of them to put more of a buffer between us and others.
