Lakeside Camping, Water Time :)

Had a great experience and beautiful property that was well maintained and the host was very responsive and helpful with suggestions of places to stop and eat and visit along my journey! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a nice quiet night with beautiful views of sunset over their little lake/pond.

The host is great. Every fire pit has prepared wood for the guest. I need an additional RV booking and the host have me site 2 hr before my arrival. Place is very clean and with great views. Our friends always take a dog and there is no issue with that either.

Great experience, beautiful views and an awesome property. Very thoughtful host with multiple different docks around the lake with boats / kayaks at each, so you could use whatever was closest to your site. Copious amounts of wood was left for fires and a bucket to put fires out at the end of the night. Picnic tables at all sites, ours also had a bench but be careful as I got quite a few splinters from it. A bit of a walk from sites 1-3 to the porta potty, but it’s so peaceful and calm there that the walks were nice. Also was thankfully a very clean porta potty. One thing that would have been nice was a dumpster to throw trash at the end of the trip, but otherwise was a great time. Extra parking is available by the way - you just have to park by the porta potty, which was not a problem. Also note there are paddleboard yoga classes a few mornings of the week run through some local company I think - looked super cool!

A little oasis close to town. Ive stayed here twice now and enjoyed the peaceful lakeside setting. Love the hammocks and the sunsets! Mike makes a point to greet his campers when they first arrive which is a comfort. Thanks Mike for another great stay!

We stayed for 2 nights and had two completely different experiences. Our kids loved the lake access, kayaks and swim pad as well as fishing. We loved easy access to exploring palisade. The downside was that it was very noisy at night with trains and animals. We were woken up early by duck hunters that were only feet from our tent with guns. The lake and views were amazing but there were a few things that made it harder to love.

This campsite was beyond my expectations. It was one of the first campsites stayed at in Colorado. We quickly needed a place to set up camp and found this gem coming from The Arch’s National Park. We arrived just before the sun began to set over the lake in front of us. It set the tone for what to expect from Colorado. With our dogs with us, they enjoyed the water, but even better the privacy. We ended up being the only ones there, but that was just great timing on our end because we wait until school begins to avoid crowds with our fur babies. However, when the weather is nice (it was about to storm when we arrived) it would be a wonderful camp ground to have a family reunion, a small function trip, or on your own. The lake had a walkway, a jump off, canoes, paddle boards, and other water activities available, but must be monitored, there is no life guard on duty. They have a fire pit available, wood, tire swings, a bench and picnic chairs. I also so there was a set up for frisbee golf. It was also very easy to navigate to. I would absolutely say this was one of my favorites. Just be aware of mosquitoes, but that’s the price to pay being by the water. I’d like to return and bring my family for a longer stay! This was also the best place to stay the night if you are heading to the Black Canyon of Gunning-son the following morning! Easy freeway/scenic byway access. There was also a gas station near by to refuel or load up on supplies.

Mike's pond-side campsites are great. You can see how much work he puts into the place. We did not use them, but the sheer number of boats available for water play is amazing.

Amazing Private Lake!

This spot is a gem!! Mike has it well maintained and full of all the gear you need for a great time on/by the water, views were amazing, and proximity to town/your next adventure is perfect. Kids caught fish within 2 mins - even just dropping a hook and line in the water with no fishing pole. We’d seen in other reviews info re nearby early morning hunters and ants (just the little picnic ants, no bother) and encountered both of those, so be prepared.

This was our 2nd trip here - we love the lake with plenty of boats and close proximity to peach and grape orchards, wineries and the town of Palisade. Mike does a great job of maintaining the property and amenities for campers.

What a great stop for us. Super nice setup. The lake was an amazing amenity after a long hot day of travel. Mike was super kind and accommodating. The location is right off the highway in what fells like a busy town, but the sight feels like it’s worlds away, quiet and serine.

We had loads of fun here! My daughter LOVED the tire swing close to our camp and we rowed around the lake and got nice and water logged before continuing on our journey. Perfect spot for families and to tire out youngens before a drive ;) Also so beautiful!

Beautiful views, quiet sites

Mike was a gracious host and the site was beautiful! Our family had a great time playing in the lake and loved the peace and quiet. Mike keeps the sites very clean and we loved how the sites were generously spaced out. He also gave us great suggestions on what to see and do in Palisade! This was a great place to camp. The owners make it very easy and it is dog friendly. The only draw back was a sulphur (?) pond next to the property. Not the most pleasant smell. I noticed it in the night with the shifting of the wind. We would stay again, though. There are not many good choices. that we found and this was close to Palisade and pretty nice.

My husband and I have mixed feelings. I tried reaching out to the owner or manager a few times but no response. Our original spot had a large yellow jacket nest, and so we were able to relocate with continual anxiety that someone else may show up to claim it. I’m happy that all things on the lake were free to use, but please stay away from the float pad. The sunset was beautiful and we were grateful for the firewood

We had a great stay overall. The lake was beautiful, the campsite felt private, and the layout was well thought out with plenty of space to relax and enjoy the surroundings. A couple of things to be aware of: the frogs around the lake were incredibly active at night, and their chorus was much louder than we expected. While it's part of the natural setting, it made it difficult for us to get much sleep. Additionally, the restroom facilities were quite a distance from our site, and the only option available was a porta potty. If you're looking for a peaceful, secluded lakeside camping experience and don't mind being immersed in nature's nighttime soundtrack, this could be a great spot for you.
