You can hear Alder Creek flowing through the canyon from the comfort of your campsite. Many nearby options for bicycling, hiking, kayaking and skiing in the area. Once you pull out the driveway you are a few minutes from Last Dollar Ranch Road (hike, bike, or 4x4) and about a 25 minute drive to Telluride, 30 minutes to Ridgway, and 30 minutes to Norwood. Just outside of Ridgway is Orvis Hot Springs, and more hot springs can be found in Ouray. The property offers access to Alder Creek and our beaver ponds down in the canyon. There are patches of scrub oak and fields with cinquefoil bushes in the camping areas, and as you go down in the canyon there’s aspen groves, blue spruce, and ponderosa pines. It doesn’t take long after pulling off onto the road that leads to Kelly Place to notice that you are now on sacred grounds. We only spent 2 nights there, but that was enough to get the understanding that this was a place of uniquenesses that held a certain amount of powers. I’m yet uncertain how long it might take to come to grips with it what’s held there, but I’m very grateful for the time allotted and will soon return for a deeper connection. If you have a spiritual side to yourself and this comes up on your radar, by all means necessary book it and thank not only me later, but more importantly those that have taken the oath to keep this spirit alive and well. 5,000 ⭐️’s is the rating if possible. An absolute dream! My only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer. Sunset on property was gorgeous! The trails around camp were super fun. Friendly staff. Our pour-over site was tucked away, beautiful, felt safe. Grounds were clean and stocked.

The scenery was beautiful and the host was very communicative. But, these sites are not meant for 20' campers. Very tight lots of half buried pointy rocks and if the weather isn't perfect the road in and out is sketchy at best. It would be fine for tear drop, pop up or even tent camping however.

Here’s what I liked about Zuma…I arrived at night (which I usually never do….as a general rule to try and find a camp spot after dark) and the signage was perfect to get me where I needed to go…just when I would start to second guess myself voila there was another sign. Super clean camp spot, porta potty and a HOT shower. Not icky at all. And the best part was that the northern trails for Phil’s World were accessible right from camp. If you like quiet and are okay with a minimal camping situation this is a great place. I will definitely be back and very glad I found it.

We had a great quick night at Joe’s place. There were so many amenities like a fully stocked camp kitchen, outhouse, shower set up, and plenty of chairs and tables. We didn’t have to unload much of our own stuff and could just use what was provided. We slept peacefully with the sound of the creek. We wish we could have stayed longer to explore more of the property and creek! Our dog was a bit anxious at first but Joe came by with a treat to say hello and she immediately was happy and relaxed. She loved playing in the creek.

We loved staying at Zuma! The campsites are level and surrounded by nature. The bathroom and shower are close by, and the shower has HOT water! We were greeted by the welcoming committee (some very friendly, very sweet dogs) who came to check on us a few times during our stay. Jake is very knowledgeable about the area and had some great recommendations. The proximity to Phil's World can't be beat. We are looking forward to coming back in the spring!

MTB at Phil's World from camp and a great location for accessing multiple angles of approach to higher rides in the San Juans. Jake is also a great resource for local riding information.
