We do have neighbors, but the property is pretty well tucked away. You may see the occasional vehicle or hiker on the road or hear someone doing some yard work, but it is generally very quiet and secluded at the yurt.
Our neighbors have chosen to live in Marble for its privacy and tranquillity. Please show them respect by keeping the noise down and leaving them be.
If you have questions or need help, call us from the yurt landline.
Winter camping experience/equipment and a high-clearance 4x4 vehicle with severe snow-rated tires and chains may be required to access the yurt Oct-April. During large snow events, driving to the yurt may be impossible in any vehicle. Skiing to the yurt may be an option Dec - Feb. Gear sleds are available at the yurt for your use.

The only and closest Hipcamp under the steady majesty of Needlerock! You need to arrive in daylight! This area was Ute land first and Needlerock was ceremonial ground. We have lots of large fields (110 acres) A river running through to dip into and secluded areas to be at one with the magical beauty here. Once a working sheep ranch we are now taking time to dream into this magical place and it’s next incarnation. Come pitch a tent or there are a couple spots to car camp and share in this ranch paradise. We limit each camping spot to two adults or a family with children are fine. Please do not come with 4+ people and one tent. Book accordingly and respectfully. There are mosquitos down by the creek at certain times in the summer in the evening, so we recommend bringing some bug spray. There is a fridge in the barn to keep small things cold and tables to use to sit and enjoy the rustic lux surroundings. We provide a porta potty so please only #1 (pee) outdoors. The land is big although we have 7 camping spots listed, and they are mowed all summer, there is plenty of room to usually be able to choose your own exact spot. This is a cut above basic camping with some nice amenities! We have very friendly dogs, horses and goats. The dogs are out and about and will want to greet you and possible hang out a little. It’s their home too:) We often have a friends yaks grazing here and the next door neighbors cows are always there.

4WD Spirit Ranch is comprised of 35 acres of isolation in the lush green aspen forest, above the sage and juniper at 8800’. Somewhat hard to get to, up a bumpy road, it’s very private, quiet and green. Within 45 minutes to the city of Montrose, a day trip to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison, Ouray, the Cimarron's and the San Juan's. Spirit Ranch’s seclusion gives you respite from civilization. Soak in the peace. To access the property, you need some clearance, AWD or 4WD is recommended (something like a RAV4 or better).
Larger vehicles will probably touch some soft branches along the way. After a big rain, the road can be muddy and slick. Not a serious jeep trail, but definitely “off roady”. The last 1.4 miles is through a locked gate through private property. Camp host is only there 25% of the time, with only two sites, you are not likely to see anyone else. Each campsite is marked, has a fire ring and flat spots for tents. There is plenty of dead aspen to burn. One composting porta potty serves both sites. You will need to bring your own water and leave with your garbage. There is decent cell phone reception (Verizon), but with towers on top of Waterdog Mtn, other providers are likely.
Foot traffic to the top of Waterdog, from near the locked gate, is totally tolerated despite the signs. Blessed with the state’s finest top soil, it’s lush in a way most of the west can’t provide. A great place to play with a plant identification app, foragers will be thrilled with the amount of edible plants. Feel free to explore our 35 acres (property boundaries are not marked, the OnX app works great and comes with a free trial, our property is currently labeled as “Providence…”). Responsible firearm target practice is allowed. Wildlife is abundant. You’ll hear coyotes, see the scratches and tracks from mountain lions, scat and tracks from bear, elk, deer and free range cattle. Be careful with your pets.

Miller Flats is a privately own home on 40 acres bordered on 4 sides by Bureau of Land Management (BLM). The Powderhorn Wilderness is literally in the back yard. You will find hiking and biking trails plentiful. The Lake Fork of the Gunnison River is just across the street, with public access just two miles away. If you are looking for Jeep or ATV trails, they are less than a mile down the road. We are twenty miles from the spectacular Alpine Loop! And twenty-five miles from Blue Mesa Reservoir.
Tent sites include a firepit, and flat spot for tent. Water and electricity are available at the well house, but not the tent sites. Each campsite has a five gallon bucket of water, a camp potty with a removable bag that you dispose. There may be an outdoor shower available for an extra fee.
Please do not plan on using the firepit unless we have had recent rain and the camp host approves. The grass around the campsite is a wildfire waiting to happen since we have been in a severe drought since 2021. There is a pile of wood near the cabin driveway that you can use for campfires. Please make sure you have a way to extinguish your fire.
The road to the tent sites is BLM. It is not gravel, it is dirt. My car can get to most sites, but the camp host can help haul gear if you don’t want to drive down it. I have had several sedans drive the road, but if you have a low profile vehicle we can tote your supplies. Also, in spring the road may be muddy. Please have a 4 wheel drive. Just send me a message and we will make it work for you.
Satellite Wifi is available near the well house, but somewhat spotty. Not great for downloading movies or gaming. Some people get cell service at the top of the hill, but otherwise there is very little in the area.
Your tent sites are arranged around the property next to the wilderness and a BLM trail. You will be able to drive there. There is a log home on the center of the property, about a quarter mile or more away from the tent sites. We rent the property and a third of the time we are living on premises. There are gardens, barn cats, dogs and we are hoping to add a horse and a fuzzy cow. There are outdoor living areas between the log home and your sites.
If you are interested in more seclusion, please see the Private Valley campsite. It has a ridge between the cabin, other campsites and the well house.

Campfires are allowed, but it is your responsibility to determine if there is a fire ban in effect. Firewood may be available or dead wood can be collected on the property. There is a picnic table nestled in the scrub oaks. We only rent one side and the entire property is private to you!
We do have neighbors, but the property is pretty well tucked away. You may see the occasional vehicle or hiker on the road or hear someone doing some yard work, but it is generally very quiet and secluded at the yurt.
Our neighbors have chosen to live in Marble for its privacy and tranquillity. Please show them respect by keeping the noise down and leaving them be.

Winter camping experience/equipment and a high-clearance 4x4 vehicle with severe snow-rated tires and chains may be required to access the yurt Oct-April. During large snow events, driving to the yurt may be impossible in any vehicle. Skiing to the yurt may be an option Dec - Feb. Gear sleds are available at the yurt for your use.

The only and closest Hipcamp under the steady majesty of Needlerock! You need to arrive in daylight! This area was Ute land first and Needlerock was ceremonial ground. We have lots of large fields (110 acres) A river running through to dip into and secluded areas to be at one with the magical beauty here. Once a working sheep ranch we are now taking time to dream into this magical place and it’s next incarnation. Come pitch a tent or there are a couple spots to car camp and share in this ranch paradise. We limit each camping spot to two adults or a family with children are fine. Please do not come with 4+ people and one tent. Book accordingly and respectfully. There are mosquitos down by the creek at certain times in the summer in the evening, so we recommend bringing some bug spray. There is a fridge in the barn to keep small things cold and tables to use to sit and enjoy the rustic lux surroundings. We provide a porta potty so please only #1 (pee) outdoors. The land is big although we have 7 camping spots listed, and they are mowed all summer, there is plenty of room to usually be able to choose your own exact spot. This is a cut above basic camping with some nice amenities! We have very friendly dogs, horses and goats. The dogs are out and about and will want to greet you and possible hang out a little. It’s their home too:) We often have a friends yaks grazing here and the next door neighbors cows are always there.

After traveling the US in our motorhome for almost 5 years my husband Scott and I know the value of a smiling face and a helping hand after a day (or week) of travel. Exploring and experiencing this amazing country, its diversity and incredible people enhanced our lives in so many ways.

4WD Spirit Ranch is comprised of 35 acres of isolation in the lush green aspen forest, above the sage and juniper at 8800’. Somewhat hard to get to, up a bumpy road, it’s very private, quiet and green. Within 45 minutes to the city of Montrose, a day trip to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison, Ouray, the Cimarron's and the San Juan's. Spirit Ranch’s seclusion gives you respite from civilization. Soak in the peace. To access the property, you need some clearance, AWD or 4WD is recommended (something like a RAV4 or better).
Larger vehicles will probably touch some soft branches along the way. After a big rain, the road can be muddy and slick. Not a serious jeep trail, but definitely “off roady”. The last 1.4 miles is through a locked gate through private property. Camp host is only there 25% of the time, with only two sites, you are not likely to see anyone else. Each campsite is marked, has a fire ring and flat spots for tents. There is plenty of dead aspen to burn. One composting porta potty serves both sites. You will need to bring your own water and leave with your garbage. There is decent cell phone reception (Verizon), but with towers on top of Waterdog Mtn, other providers are likely.
Foot traffic to the top of Waterdog, from near the locked gate, is totally tolerated despite the signs. Blessed with the state’s finest top soil, it’s lush in a way most of the west can’t provide. A great place to play with a plant identification app, foragers will be thrilled with the amount of edible plants. Feel free to explore our 35 acres (property boundaries are not marked, the OnX app works great and comes with a free trial, our property is currently labeled as “Providence…”). Responsible firearm target practice is allowed. Wildlife is abundant. You’ll hear coyotes, see the scratches and tracks from mountain lions, scat and tracks from bear, elk, deer and free range cattle. Be careful with your pets.

Miller Flats is a privately own home on 40 acres bordered on 4 sides by Bureau of Land Management (BLM). The Powderhorn Wilderness is literally in the back yard. You will find hiking and biking trails plentiful. The Lake Fork of the Gunnison River is just across the street, with public access just two miles away. If you are looking for Jeep or ATV trails, they are less than a mile down the road. We are twenty miles from the spectacular Alpine Loop! And twenty-five miles from Blue Mesa Reservoir.
Tent sites include a firepit, and flat spot for tent. Water and electricity are available at the well house, but not the tent sites. Each campsite has a five gallon bucket of water, a camp potty with a removable bag that you dispose. There may be an outdoor shower available for an extra fee.
Please do not plan on using the firepit unless we have had recent rain and the camp host approves. The grass around the campsite is a wildfire waiting to happen since we have been in a severe drought since 2021. There is a pile of wood near the cabin driveway that you can use for campfires. Please make sure you have a way to extinguish your fire.
The road to the tent sites is BLM. It is not gravel, it is dirt. My car can get to most sites, but the camp host can help haul gear if you don’t want to drive down it. I have had several sedans drive the road, but if you have a low profile vehicle we can tote your supplies. Also, in spring the road may be muddy. Please have a 4 wheel drive. Just send me a message and we will make it work for you.
Satellite Wifi is available near the well house, but somewhat spotty. Not great for downloading movies or gaming. Some people get cell service at the top of the hill, but otherwise there is very little in the area.
Your tent sites are arranged around the property next to the wilderness and a BLM trail. You will be able to drive there. There is a log home on the center of the property, about a quarter mile or more away from the tent sites. We rent the property and a third of the time we are living on premises. There are gardens, barn cats, dogs and we are hoping to add a horse and a fuzzy cow. There are outdoor living areas between the log home and your sites.
If you are interested in more seclusion, please see the Private Valley campsite. It has a ridge between the cabin, other campsites and the well house.

Our 220 acre historical ranch has been in the family for over 100 years. The property was once a gold mine stop for the Denver South Park and Pacific Railroad and we are still able to enjoy the train depot and telegraph house from the early 1900’s when the train was running through the Quartz Creek Valley. We are also blessed with some of the oldest, largest Pine Trees in the Valley thanks to them being on protected railroad property when logging was prevalent. Come enjoy over 2 miles of private prime fly fishing on the Gunnison headwaters of Gold and Quartz Creek as well as 3 different well stocked lakes. Take a stroll, run or bike along the private 2.5 mile walking loop along Quartz Creek. Keep an eye out for the resident Geese, Blue Heron, ducks and other birds who reside here on the islands. If hiking is your thing-enjoy the Willow Creek Hike that cuts through the property, among other scenic trails in the area. Choose from three different lake-side campsites and come relax on our private slice of heaven!

This was a great site! I was worried about being on the north rim of Black Canyon because the “main” stuff is on the south rim but IT WAS SO GREAT! We did the south rim the day before and hit the North Rim morning after (views are 10x better!!) Definitely recommend Tater’s campground, so clean, so comfortable, so serene. Star gazing, stunning views, seclusion, and sweet pets 🩵 Traci + Chris have done a wonderful job.

Absolutely beautiful. The darkest skies you'll find in the area. Wide open field to the east for a beautiful sunrise through the Aspens. Trees are pretty close on the west, which is okay because the road is right there also, but there is not a lot of traffic, I think three trucks and four four side-by-sides went by all day, it is a private community after all. If you walk out into the field you can see North and South pretty good as well. I was there to start gaze so I did not walk around much, but the people that I did see were very nice. I did venture down to evergreen lake, be careful, it gets really, really steep, and there were lots of deer, I think I saw 20 deer in one day.

Amazing!! We got there at night, and woke up to an amazing view! My daughter, dogs and I went camping for the first time together. I learned how to chop wood, and the tent kept us dry while it rained. I loved having the cooling box to have a fire and cook food. My 6 year old daughter even learned how to make us s’mores all on her own! She even said she’d loved to go back there sometime, and said, “why wouldn’t I?” On our way out we saw the beautiful fall leaves!

The owners were so warm and welcoming, and the showers were absolutely incredible; after a few days on the road camping, they felt like such a treat! This campsite will take your breathe away. Located right in front of needle rock and surrounded by beautiful mountains, it was truly a beautiful place to stay. And only 20 minutes from Black Canyon of the Gunnison and an hour-ish away from Grand Junction! The land owner, Jessica, gave us a warm welcome and did a great job accommodating us as her guests. She set up a nice table to eat at in her rustic barn, brewed us fresh coffee in the morning, and took us on a tour of her farm animals. We got to pet her beautiful horses and feed the silly goats. Overall, my girlfriend and I had a really great time and we'd definitely camp here again.

We really enjoyed our stay at Martha's Hip Camp. Full hook-ups, surrounded by nature so good privacy, and lots of room to manuever.
The site wasn't that level but she provides plenty of paver stones that made it work. Great location with lots of opportunity to hike, fish, and enjoy the beautiful landscape.

One night wasn't enough.. What a sanctuary. Clean, green, so so peaceful, relaxing. I booked a second night in the deer 🦌 Tipi. Loved the solar bag showers, loved loved the views, and the private mini hike. Love that we could take our dogs because lots of places do not. Our dogs were in heaven. Highly highly recommend this sanctuary.
