Shasta View Campsites are part of a former 30,000 acre ranch that was split up into smaller parcels in the 1970's. It is comprised of 5 to 500 acre parcels. All these parcels are homesteads. There are no commercial or industrial areas on the Ranch. In 2005, I started looking for land in the Shasta area after falling in love with the Mountain and it's surrounding lakes. I have always known exactly what the land I would spend time on would look like.
One day, in 2006, I was driving on the Hammond Ranch, again hoping I would find that place. I was driving my van, with my 2 kids and some of our friends, through a heavily wooded area. I made a left turn down a dusty dirt road and Eureka! I had found IT. I was at the top of a 60 acre meadow that had a full unobstructed view of Mt. Shasta, encircled by lenticular clouds. I told a friend of mine, who was at the time a realtor in the Shasta area, that I had found a piece of land that looks perfect to me. If, that is, it also had a creek on it. She did some searching around and found out that the land that is now Shasta View was in fact for sale. And, it had a creek on it. And it was comprised of some acreage in the meadow and some in the trees. This was everything I had wanted. I bought the land within the next 2 weeks.
After camping on the land a few times, I started to understand where the best sites would be to build some structures. Because the meadow always has a certain amount of moisture to the ground, it is not suitable for building a structure. The good thing about that, is that nobody who owns land in that meadow will ever build there. We will only be looking at Mt. Shasta from that meadow. Never a building. The platform I built in the meadow offers on a chance to sleep under the stars. Billions of them. My property is only one of two that have old, large Cedar and Pine trees on it. It made perfect sense that I would be building a small house in those trees. While camping on this land, you will find exquisite beauty and solitude. Within 30 minutes, you will find Lake Siskiyou and Castle Lake for some of the finest swimming around.
If you fish, the McCloud and the Sacramento rivers offer some of the best trout fishing in the state. There are two “Blue Ribbon” designated streams. The first is Upper Sacramento River. It starts as a trickle from the melting snows of Mt Shasta and by the time it reaches the area around the town of Dunsmuir which is just south of Shasta City, it is a true “Blue Ribbon” designated trout stream. The place to find all the ins and outs of fly fishing in this area is at the Ted Fay Fly Fishing shop in Dunsmuir. The second “Blue Ribbon” trout fishing is on the McCloud River. Historically some of the best trout fishing to be found. I have fished both these streams and always caught fish.

We have 20 magical acres in beautiful rural McCloud with The Dome right on the creek. With the creek as your view, you’ll have privacy and many acres to roam.
This is sacred land, and we hold many events here on this property such as CE5, Spirit Photography and Drum circles. We will let you know ahead of time if there will be an event when you book. We usually host them on the new moon and on a weekend.
Loads of wildlife roam these lands so be prepared to see bear, coyote, deer, fox and many species of birds including a Heron live down by the creek. Be mindful of not keeping any food in your car and making sure to place it in the fridge inside the dome.
We have a medicine wheel, sacred circle in the meadow across the dome, we usually host our CE5 events there. We are 6 miles away from the McCloud reservoir, 15 mins from McCloud Falls, 5 mins from the town of McCloud and 20 mins to Mount Shasta.
The Dome sleeps 2 adults, has electric, 2 bed side lamps that charge phones, with a pillow top mattress, soft cozy kitchen bar with hot water kettle, a french press, , a dining table set, coat rack, and a hammock.
Please remove your shoes upon entering the dome, you may want to place them on the coat rack to the right of the door rather than leave them outside as it’s safer.
We do not have a cook top stove, or microwave , it’s best to plan to eat out as it’s safer and we don’t get trash service here, I cart it all out myself. Bringing snacks totally ok and can go in the fridge. There’s no fires of any kind that we can allow here so no bbq or cooking. We know all the good spots and will gladly share them. Text me if you need anything, I’m happy to help.
The Composting toilet is one of the best on the market, called Natures Head. It’s located outside of the dome for privacy in a king camp tent with everything b you’ll need inside. It’s super easy to work and believe it or not, not so bad to use. Directions are inside the restroom but I’ll relay the important here. NOTHING but #2 goes inside the trap door, no liquid or tp at all as it throws off the compost and I have to clean it all out after someone doesn’t use it properly.
The outdoor shower is located near the main home, but built into the forest and private. Signs are posted so you’ll see where to go. We like to give guests what we would want to experience, and it turned out pretty fantastic. The hot water lasts 20 mins and heats up fast. Please keep all shower products naturally based as we are eco friendly and holistically based. Shampoo, conditioner, Body soap will be provided for you here.
Note! There are bugs, There are wildlife, this is a glamping experience so please know that when you book, you will know what you’re getting. Although this is luxury glamping it’s still glamping! We placed diatomaceous earth around the dome to help as it’s safe, food grade and non toxic.
We aren’t able to have ANY fires on the property, none. Can’t make any exceptions, we’re sorry. That means no bbqing, no smoking on the property.
This place is meant to be shared, with nature lovers, conscious creators and spiritual wanderers. Welcome.

Your stay here directly supports ongoing conservation, watershed protection and fire mitigation work around the site, inquire if curious! Wildlife is prolific, mostly the friendly sort however visitors should be mindful to avoid unwelcome encounters, and any small children or pets kept under close watch. Your host can address questions or concerns.
The property is not a park, playground, or big backyard, in fact probably not much like anyplace you've been...prepare for a novel experience! And it was comprised of some acreage in the meadow and some in the trees. This was everything I had wanted. I bought the land within the next 2 weeks.
After camping on the land a few times, I started to understand where the best sites would be to build some structures. Because the meadow always has a certain amount of moisture to the ground, it is not suitable for building a structure. The good thing about that, is that nobody who owns land in that meadow will ever build there. We will only be looking at Mt. Shasta from that meadow. Never a building. The platform I built in the meadow offers on a chance to sleep under the stars. Billions of them. My property is only one of two that have old, large Cedar and Pine trees on it. It made perfect sense that I would be building a small house in those trees. While camping on this land, you will find exquisite beauty and solitude. Within 30 minutes, you will find Lake Siskiyou and Castle Lake for some of the finest swimming around.
If you fish, the McCloud and the Sacramento rivers offer some of the best trout fishing in the state. There are two “Blue Ribbon” designated streams. The first is Upper Sacramento River. It starts as a trickle from the melting snows of Mt Shasta and by the time it reaches the area around the town of Dunsmuir which is just south of Shasta City, it is a true “Blue Ribbon” designated trout stream. The place to find all the ins and outs of fly fishing in this area is at the Ted Fay Fly Fishing shop in Dunsmuir. The second “Blue Ribbon” trout fishing is on the McCloud River. Historically some of the best trout fishing to be found. I have fished both these streams and always caught fish.

We have 20 magical acres in beautiful rural McCloud with The Dome right on the creek. With the creek as your view, you’ll have privacy and many acres to roam.
This is sacred land, and we hold many events here on this property such as CE5, Spirit Photography and Drum circles. We will let you know ahead of time if there will be an event when you book. We usually host them on the new moon and on a weekend.
Loads of wildlife roam these lands so be prepared to see bear, coyote, deer, fox and many species of birds including a Heron live down by the creek. Be mindful of not keeping any food in your car and making sure to place it in the fridge inside the dome.
We have a medicine wheel, sacred circle in the meadow across the dome, we usually host our CE5 events there. We are 6 miles away from the McCloud reservoir, 15 mins from McCloud Falls, 5 mins from the town of McCloud and 20 mins to Mount Shasta.
The Dome sleeps 2 adults, has electric, 2 bed side lamps that charge phones, with a pillow top mattress, soft cozy kitchen bar with hot water kettle, a french press, , a dining table set, coat rack, and a hammock.
Please remove your shoes upon entering the dome, you may want to place them on the coat rack to the right of the door rather than leave them outside as it’s safer.
We do not have a cook top stove, or microwave , it’s best to plan to eat out as it’s safer and we don’t get trash service here, I cart it all out myself. Bringing snacks totally ok and can go in the fridge. There’s no fires of any kind that we can allow here so no bbq or cooking. We know all the good spots and will gladly share them. Text me if you need anything, I’m happy to help.
The Composting toilet is one of the best on the market, called Natures Head. It’s located outside of the dome for privacy in a king camp tent with everything b you’ll need inside. It’s super easy to work and believe it or not, not so bad to use. Directions are inside the restroom but I’ll relay the important here. NOTHING but #2 goes inside the trap door, no liquid or tp at all as it throws off the compost and I have to clean it all out after someone doesn’t use it properly.
The outdoor shower is located near the main home, but built into the forest and private. Signs are posted so you’ll see where to go. We like to give guests what we would want to experience, and it turned out pretty fantastic. The hot water lasts 20 mins and heats up fast. Please keep all shower products naturally based as we are eco friendly and holistically based. Shampoo, conditioner, Body soap will be provided for you here.
Note! There are bugs, There are wildlife, this is a glamping experience so please know that when you book, you will know what you’re getting. Although this is luxury glamping it’s still glamping! We placed diatomaceous earth around the dome to help as it’s safe, food grade and non toxic.
We aren’t able to have ANY fires on the property, none. Can’t make any exceptions, we’re sorry. That means no bbqing, no smoking on the property.

This is a great stop off i5!
Highlights include the am trail system right out the back door that leads to a river walk, and the close proximity to parks and waterfalls. The staff was friendly and eager to help. The airstream was tidy. If you’re a light sleeper the train and highway noise might be tough for you, and the airstream’s bed was pretty tough on my back, but it’s glamping after all.

Weekend Trip to Trailer Lane Campground
I am writing to share how much I enjoyed my recent stay at Trailer Lane. It was an awesome experience, and I wanted to reach out and let you know how much I appreciated the stay.
The facilities were very clean/well-maintained, and the overall environment made for a fantastic trip. I will certainly be recommending this location to others looking for a great place to camp.
I particularly enjoyed petting the chickens and goats, and the view of Mt. Shasta from the tent camping area was spectacular. The sound of the frogs at night also made the stay very peaceful.
From this campsite you can make a waterfall loop and see 6 maybe even 7 waterfalls in one day. I did 6 it took 4 hours and very worth it.
I saw a 40ft 5th wheel parked so I know I can bring my 35 ft 5th wheel next time. I stayed in the Denali this trip.

Cool airstreams and cottages backing to waking paths in the arboretum. It’s a small town, so close to grocery store and waterfall hiking trail. Friendly and helpful staff. It is right off the highway, so there is some muted road noise, but the provided earplugs and eye masks were a nice touch (although we didn’t find they were needed for us to test comfortably).

Easily one of the best places we’ve stayed. The convenience, amenities and value were phenomenal and these hosts go above and beyond to give you a comfortable and very leisurely experience. Being able to get a last-minute reservation here on our way home was so fortunate for us, and we’ll definitely be back! Usually this is a convenient stopping point for us when travelling between WA and CA, but now we are already talking about coming back to this very spot for a dedicated vacation here. The suite has everything you could need and more— huge bonus points for great WiFi, private hot tub, and bussing station and laundry baskets right outside the door. Easy check in. The property outside was so wonderful, we loved being greeted by free range turkeys when we got out of the car, and walking the property to see all the livestock and fun features of the place. Between that and the interior style, it really feels like the perfect authentic Northern CA getaway. Looking forward to being back soon!

I loved my one night stay in Caboose #11! The caboose was clean and cozy, the hot tub was lovely in the rain, and dinner in the dining car was delicious. I had my dog with me and there were no problems with that, the property was dog-friendly as described (just had to pay a $25 pet fee when reserving through Hipcamp, not sure if that's the same if you book through their website directly). Everything was easy & nice! Would definitely stay here again.

Weekend Trip to Cabin Hideaway
This is the second time I've stayed in this beautiful cabin. Each time I've extended our stay. It has a cozy feeling once you step inside, and you feel right at home. The owner is super easy to contact when you have any questions or concerns, and she's super sweet to chat with. The only complaint I have is the Hipcamp app itself. The property owners that use this app has a lot of difficulty reaching out to me or being able to get on the app itself. So you would need to make sure that you have an alternate way of communicating with management because this app is unreliable when it comes to that. Highly recommend staying here!

We had a great night in the RV. The campground is clean and easily accessible. It felt safe. Jonathan is so friendly and helpful. There’s not a better person to run the place!! Everything was clean and J was very responsive. My daughter loved the little loft. We could have fit many more people easily.

Such a great private retreat with our 3 pups! It has everything needed for a glamping getaway and more! Very clean all around. All amenities were there and taken care of well. Peaceful and absolutely beautiful! Nice swimming hole that we wished we could have jumped in but the weather was a bit chilly! We also stopped by the winery and met Leith who gave us a great rundown of the history which was a pleasant little bonus! We will come back next summer for a few more day with friends to enjoy!

Weekend Trip to Cave Springs Resort
I love the airstreams at Cave Springs Resort. We had some technical issues with our airstream and the staff upgraded us at no extra charge. The staff are truly amazing, friendly, and polite. They place is conveniently located near the Sacramento River and near the major freeway so getting around is never an issue. The place is so clean, beautiful and tastefully decorated. They truly thought of every detail and I cannot recommend Cave Spring Resort enough. I will go back!
