We originally purchased the 20 acres of untouched land and built our cabin, the "Snug Shack," as a getaway from the city. Fast forward a few years, and 40 acres next door with an abandoned house on the canyon ridge went up for sale. We decided to purchase it and start a homestead there. That 40 acres where we now live was badly abused, and we have been in the process of cleaning up and restoring it. Fortunate for you, the land surrounding the Snug Shack was never abused and is still pristine and beautiful. By camping at the Snug Shack, you help support us in our mission to restore this beautiful place.We named our homestead after the rings of small oak trees that grow here on the ridge.: "Oak Ring Ridge." Before you book, please BE kind, respectful, sorry NO pets or service animals and please read the entire listing. If you're uncomfortable with the supernatural realm, we aren't the space for you. If you feel called to book a session with me during your stay, please book on my website beforehand.
We have 20 magical acres in beautiful rural McCloud with The Dome right on the creek. With the creek as your view, you’ll have privacy and many acres to roam.
This is sacred land, we hold events here on this property such as CE5 and Spirit Photography. We have been on Beyond Skinwalker Ranch and a few other tv series.
Loads of wildlife roam these lands so be prepared to see bear, coyote, deer, fox and many species of birds including a Heron live down by the creek. Be mindful of not keeping any food in your car and making sure to place it in the fridge inside the dome.
We are 6 miles away from the McCloud reservoir, 15 mins from McCloud Falls, 5 mins from the town of McCloud and 20 mins to Mount Shasta.
The Dome sleeps 2 adults, has electric, 2 bed side lamps that charge phones, with a pillow top mattress, kitchen bar with hot water kettle, a french press, a dining table set, coat rack, and a hammock.
We do not have a cook top stove, or microwave , plan to eat out as it’s safer and we don’t get trash service here, I cart it all out myself. Bringing snacks totally ok and can go in the fridge. There’s no fires of any kind that we can allow here so no bbq or cooking. We know all the good spots and will gladly share them.
The Composting toilet is one of the best on the market, called Natures Head. It’s located outside of the dome for privacy in camp tent with everything you’ll need inside.
The outdoor shower is located near the main home, but built into the forest and private. We like to give guests what we would want to experience, and it turned out pretty fantastic. Shampoo, conditioner, Body soap will be provided for you here.
There are bugs, There are wildlife, this is a glamping experience so please know that when you book, you will know what you’re getting. Although this is luxury glamping it’s still glamping

“The Bunky”
Is an off grid cabin located 9 miles from downtown McCloud. The Bunky is a rustic cabin located on a 10 acre homestead. We have free ranging chickens, sheep, and Kune Kune pigs and 2 livestock guardian dogs that roam freely during the day. Our livestock guardian dog is extremely friendly but barks at night to protect the farm animals from predators. We do have black bears and coyotes in the wilderness that surrounds our homestead. We can not allow pets as we need to insure the safety of our animals. We are located in a secluded rural neighborhood that is 2 miles down a dirt rd off highway 89.
If you are wanting a secluded peaceful homestead experience and comfortable in the wilderness this is the perfect place for you. We are only 2-3 miles away from the McCloud waterfalls which provides beautiful hiking trails.
Our property is completely off grid so the cabin is solar powered. There is a wood burner for heat and the water for showering is rain water that is collected in a 2000 gallon water tank. The water is treated with a reverse osmosis water system. We supply well water for drinking in a 5 gallon water dispenser.
The cabin has an attached bathroom with flushing toilet, sink and shower. We do not allow baths due to water conservation and small septic. Only showers please. Access to the bathroom is a short walk around the side of the cabin
We have a 2 burner cooktop for cooking and an under counter refrigerator for keeping your food fresh and cold. There is running water for washing dishes.

We had a wonderful time in this cabin. Although the cabin is small, it is well designed and feels much more spacious. The loft was great and the outdoor shower worked exceptionally well. The property is so peaceful and private, it was great to hang out. Hope to get back there sometime.

We had a beautiful stay. Host met us at the cabin and showed us the ropes and then we had the place + surrounding land to ourselves. The cabin is clean and cozy. So cool that it is hand-built. Got to see lightning, deer, and a wild horse run by in the morning!

Andy was a wonderful host, greeted us and walked us through the space when we arrived. It was our first time in a little A-frame cabin and this one was quite charming and loved the handmade feel to all the details! It was a wonderful retreat and reset as we were off grid. We especially loved the loft, hanging out and sleeping with the view of the sky! Absolutely would come back.

The snuck shack was indeed a snug, remote and charming stay. The host was ever so kind and accommodating. Great trails with wide open spaces for the doggies. The kitchen was well equipped and suitable staying off grid. The roof was clear corrugated so you can catch a starry night from the loft bed. Host left a walkie talkie to get in touch for any questions or needs as cell service is very limited. Wish we had time to stay longer and explore.

Absolutely phenomenal experience. Hosts are gracious, kind, and set up a beautiful nest that has everything ya need in a gorgeous environment.
Naturalist paradise: encountered coyote, wild horses, golden eagle, bobcat, red-tailed hawk, western tanager, deer, amongst many other songbirds as well as a diversity of wildflowers.
Tranquil and enlivening stay, full of wild beauty. Highly recommend.

One of few places you can explore caves without a permit or tour guide. Equipment available to rent for the novice cave explorer. An amazing and humbling experience!

Make sure you get a map for each cave you want to check out. Some caves are easy to get lost in, and not everyone can pull off being Indiana Jones

Excellent place to go caving! You’ll hit the jackpot with Golden Dome cave (it glows!!) and the delicious Hopkins Chocolate cave (sadly not made of chocolate, but it has graffiti from 1892!)
