Sis Q Ranch

7 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents43 acres · Fort Jones, CA
If you are a hiker or biker (pedal or gas), kayaker, quiet time reader or anyone wanting to get away from city lights and noise (we do have occasional farm machinery noise) you'd love visiting us in Scott Valley, Siskiyou County, true Northern California! Sis-Q Ranch is a small working ranch that is 9 miles from our nearest town of Fort Jones (Population 660). We have limited tent space that is shaded most of the day with access to tiled bathrooms and hot showers. It is filled with wild birds surrounded by hundreds of agricultural acreage. Wildlife of cougar, bear, coyote, bobcat, raccoon, skunk, etc are our local neighbors. We are quiet, secluded, and off the beaten path. We are family & pet friendly. Our night sky has been rated as the darkest possible providing an absolutely clear view of our universe! Come watch the Space Station on some evenings!!!! We even offer free firewood for a campfire, though there is no grate for cooking! Sis-Q Ranch is located in the mythical State of Jefferson. If you love the outdoors, you can hike the beautiful Marble Mountain Wilderness, explore forest trails on your mountain bike, or cycle the historic roads and byways of Scott Valley. Swimming is offered on the Scott River a few miles from the Ranch or at smaller streams nearby. If you love history, Scott Valley has opportunities to learn more about the Old West. Our Valley was formerly known as Beaver Valley, and played an important role during the settlement of the West. Fort Jones was a military establishment, and the entire area was very active during the Gold Rush. Many historic sites are found in and around the local communities of Fort Jones, Greenview, Etna, and Callahan. The Fort Jones Museum holds a lot of information about our two local native American tribes: the Shasta and Karuk. It is also famous for its fabulous collection of rocks and minerals.

Cozy Callahan Cabin Full Bed Studio

1 site · Lodging10 acres · Etna, CA
Learn more about this land:The Cabin is a place to unplug & unwind. In fact, it's hardly camping at all. If you're looking for a perfect space loaded with technology, this isn't the listing for you. If you want to hear the wind whistling through 100 acres of pines, oaks and little else, keep reading. The windows are wonky, the flooring is worse, but the cozy full bed, infrared stove, sweet kitchenette, and surrounding quiet will charm you from the first hello. Finish reading (or writing!) your novel, bring your knitting/sewing, yoga mat, & relax. The outdoor deck is perfect for morning coffee before you hit a hiking trail, go paddle boarding, or spend the day otherwise unplugged. Inside the cabin there's a cafe table begging for offline computer work, sewing a quilt, working on a puzzle, or simply enjoying a meal. The kitchenette features a fridge-combo-stove with 2 electric burners for cooking and a mini-fridge sized fridge, small freezer included. Wash up in the single sink, and enjoy the standard sized shower stall, and of course use the toilet. Our home's corner is 10 feet away from the cabin. This means that you'll hear us potentially get ready for school in the morning, barely hear me all day as I work from home during the day, and probably notice when the kids get home from school in the afternoon. We are lights out by 10 pm every day of the week if not earlier, and our two kids are normal, well-behaved kids that will respect your privacy as we hope you will respect ours.Trinity Lake is about an hour's drive, Kangaroo Lake is 40 minutes, Mt. Shasta an hour plus or minus 15 minutes depending on summer versus winter conditions, and the town of Etna is only 12 minutes. Historic Callahan is only 5 minutes away, and Fort Jones is 27 minutes. Our driveway is easily accessible nearly every day of the year in a Honda Accord (minus the rare, heavy snowfall).

Alpen Vineyard Hideaway

6 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents20 acres · Trinity Center, CA
Alpen Cellars Winery was established on a family ranch in the spring of 1984; it is situated in a picturesque mountain valley at the foot of towering craggy peaks in the rugged Trinity Lake region of Trinity County, California. Alpen Cellars is a family venture in which each of us take part in the long painstaking process of wine production. From pruning to harvest, crush to fermentation and bottling, we strive for fine wine and a connection to our customers. It may seem like an unlikely location to grow wine grapes, but the combination of high elevation and favorable microclimate provide the ideal conditions for early maturing grapes.
