Located in the Sierra Nevada Foothills in Gold Country~ 15 min from Grass Valley, Nevada City or Colfax. There is the 'MUST SEE' yuba river nearby neavada city and grass valley, Greenhorn creek that runs into Rollins Lake very close to the property. Also the American River is another nearby beauty worth exploring. There is so much nature and beauty around our area. Frolic (property name) is a wild place with nature running the show. It is quiet and beautiful. Usually cooler because it is right on the water. The dock goes out to the 4 acre pond which is stocked with Bass. You will need to keep food inside of the Cabin/Sauna because we share the space with the animals that live here. The pond is shared with one other neighbor, so you may see other people playing on the pond or hear nearby activity through the trees. It's a great place to hang your hammock and bring a good book or birdwatch. Frolic has been an adventure for me in Saying Yes to life and the rewarding challenges it brings. I fell in love with the huge grama oaks, the pristine pond and the feral overgrown everything. It has been a workin' progress and lots of time to sweat, craft, pause and listen. The property is shaped like a pint glass, running north to south, with a lovely bowl the pond sits in and an ancient meadow up behind the cabin full of apples 🍎 & pears 🍐. Up the hill, a hotter zone, more exposed with its own beauty, where we live. On the occasion, one of us may come down to the pond for a swim, especially when it's too hot up top. We will be respectful but likely just need to cool down. Frolic has been a great teacher in reminding me to PLAY, relax and go with the flow. I hope you can find the same joy and rejuvenation here.

This special land is part of a multi-parcel wildlife corridor, helping to provide valuable habitat between the state parks, along the creek and river. Out your doorstep, you'll find more than 15-miles of private, groomed, hiking, biking and horseback riding trails and have an opportunity to reconnect with nature. Our solar-powered farmhouse overlooks the mountains and an organic orchard and garden, with two queen bedrooms lined with hand-milled sugar pine from the land, high speed wifi, waterfalls, and private network of trails to hike or bike. Walk to refreshing creek swimming hole or private Yuba river swimming access available at certain times. Included in your stay is seasonal organic produce to gather out your doorstep in our family's organic garden and hammocks to relax in under the fruit trees, creek and river. Relax and rejuvenate in nature. The two bedrooms downstairs have queen beds handcrafted of sugar pine milled from downed trees from the land and are fitted with organic sheets. Downstairs has a bathroom with tub and shower, living room with mid-century furniture, views of the orchard and a tv for cozy movie nights. Upstairs is a fully-stocked kitchen with gas stove, oven, and all chef's amenities, foldout queen sleeper, bathroom with shower and outdoor table for a sunset dinner. Cool mountain air refreshes your nights or feel the luxury of air conditioning on a hot summer afternoon. After a relaxing day in the mountains, perhaps star gaze from the patio or orchard. To get to the sandy beach and creek spot, called Barkhouse Beach, take an easy stroll through the forest. The nearby Barkhouse, close to the creek, is a reconstruction of a typical Maidu Indian dwelling. Walk inside to experience the traditional history of this land. Or cool off in the Yuba River at the South Yuba River State Park, just a 5-minute drive from the farmhouse. Ask about accommodating additional guests.

Welcome to Coco, the 1970 Overlander 27’ Airstream! We have tried to preserve her 50-year-old charm as much as possible and are still in the process of restoring her to her original glory. Our family of 4 humans, two dogs, and one guinea pig lived in Coco while our house was being built. It was quite an adventure! Coco is nestled in the foothills of the Sierras on our semi-private 4-acre property. Easy access to Grass Valley, Nevada City, and the Yuba River. Coco the Airstream is fully functional with a kitchen and bathroom. There is one full-ish size bed that sleeps two comfortably in the bedroom area, and the couch can fold into one twin-sized bed. We are located about 15 minutes to town and 10 to the nearest grocery store. Coco the Airstream shares the property with a private family of four humans and two dogs in a house at the top of the hill. My parents are full time RVers and often stay in the other RV spot on our property throughout the year when they are taking a break from traveling. The two dogs are very friendly but may bark to greet you upon your arrival. Show more

Where to go

Truckee and Tahoe National Forest

Just west of Truckee, Donner Memorial State Park offers access to Donner Lake, trails, campgrounds, and a museum where you can learn more about the ill-fated Donner Party. Truckee is surrounded by the 850,000-acre Tahoe National Forest, which offers more than 70 designated campgrounds. Camp alongside the Truckee River south of town at the Granite Flat, Goose Meadow, and Silver Creek campgrounds. For lakeside camping and water recreation, head to Prosser, Boca, or Stampede reservoirs.

Lake Tahoe

Truckee is just 12 miles north of Lake Tahoe’s crystal-clear water and 72 miles of shoreline. Dozens of beaches and parks surround the lake, and offer great camping options close to the lake. Camp by the beach at Tahoe State Recreation Area, at Meeks Bay, or at D.L. Bliss State Park. Or spend the night overlooking Emerald Bay at Eagle Point. For proximity to amenities and the lake, stay at historic Camp Richardson or the Campground by the Lake, in the heart of South Lake Tahoe. On the Nevada side, Nevada Beach and Zephyr Cove offer campsites for tents and RVs near the lake.

Eldorado National Forest

South of the Tahoe National Forest, the Eldorado National Forest offers nearly 600,000 acres of wilderness, and more than 50 developed campgrounds, plus plenty of dispersed camping options in a backcountry dotted with lakes and rugged peaks. Escape the crowds and find a remote campsite in the Desolation Wilderness or Mokelumne Wilderness. Several lakes and reservoirs, including Union Valley Reservoir, Wrights Lake, and Silver Lake, offer easy lakeside camping and water recreation.

When to go

Summer is the most popular time for hiking, mountain biking, and camping. Most campgrounds are open from May to September or October. Campgrounds open over the winter will not have water or garbage collection. Look for wildflower displays in the spring and golden aspens in the fall. Winter is also a popular time for winter activities, especially downhill skiing, with half a dozen ski resorts nearby.

Know before you go

  • Public transportation is available around Truckee and to select areas on the north and west shore of Lake Tahoe. You’ll want a vehicle to easily explore the area. In the winter, opt for an AWD/4WD drive vehicle and carry chains.
  • Campfire permits are required outside of developed campgrounds. Fire restrictions may limit or prohibit fires entirely.
  • Be bear aware, especially when camping. Store food and other attractants in a bear-proof container away from your tent.
  • Fishing licenses are required for anyone 16 or over.
