Run by three generations, our ranch has been in our family for more than 70 years. We opened our doors to the public in 2014 to help support feeding our animals, bred and rescued, after the Powerhouse Fire almost burned us out. We’ve survived a county quarantine(2018-2019), the COVID Lockdowns (2021-2022), the Lake Fire (2020), and the Hurricane Kay burn scar debris flow and flood (9/11/22), depending on hard work and strong family and community bonds. In addition to camping and educational tours, we host private and community events, grow and sell produce and eggs, hatch and sell chicks, rescue ratites, and support the local bee population (which gives us RAW honey to sell), and are working to open a private U-pick-by-appointment orchard. We are all animal lovers, and conservationists, and try to do our part to ensure our children inherit a healthy and viable world. This is our home where we live, work, love, and play. We enjoy sharing our space with visitors who we hope learn about ostrich and make some great memories.

Enjoy a rustic, no-fuss stay on our 20-acre working farm just 15 miles south of Bakersfield, with easy freeway access. Campsites sit along the pond—perfect for catch-and-release fishing, paddle boarding, or kayaking. We have a small area with farm animals (pigs, goats, sheep, peacocks and chickens) for you to enjoy. Most guests are road-tripping, escaping LA, or stopping over en route to Yosemite, Sequoia, or Joshua Tree. Expect a desert climate: hot summers, cold winters.
Each site includes a small table, potable water spigot, picnic table, and fire pit (bring your own wood). All sites are BYO tent or car-camping with the exception of our one Glamping Site which includes a queen bed. Some have vehicle height limits (noted in site names), and cannot accommodate pop-ups or truck campers.
Amenities include one shared indoor toilet and an outdoor hot/cold shower. You may be greeted by our friendly, working farm dogs. We offer self check-in and you're welcome to arrive anytime after 1PM; checkout is 11AM. Please respect quiet hours after 10PM if arriving late.
CAMP RULES
No Pets – Our dogs protect the farm and see other animals as threats. You will be asked to leave with no refund if you bring a pet.
Quiet Hours: 10 PM–7 AM – No exceptions. If we receive complaints about noise, you’ll be asked to leave immediately.
1 Tent + 1 Car per Site (Site 4 allows 2 tents/2 cars). If you need more tents, you will need to book multiple sites.
No tents or canopies on the grass/lawn area.
No fireworks or open flames outside of designated fire pits. Propane burners or grills are permitted.
Do not feed the farm dogs—no treats or food, ever.
At checkout: dispose of trash in the dumpster by Site 5, soak any hot coals, wipe down tables, and put back the kayaks and paddleboards.

What a treat! We stopped here on our way from Berkeley to Joshua Tree (there are very few camping options mid way), and we were pleasantly surprised. Our 8 year old and 6 year old LOVED feeding the llamas and alpacas. In fact, it was one of their highlights of their Spring Break. For campers (we were in our van), there is a hammock, picnic table, fire put and grill.

This farm is a great, quiet place to camp (flush toilets a plus). The tour of the ostrich farm is an extraordinary experience led by Lou, the senior farmer of the land, who is a zoologist passionate about his big birds. The two and half hours we spent with him were wonderfully educational and went by fast. The farm is less than a 20 minute drive to the California Poppy state reserve park.

The animal visits were amazing. We had goats, horses, dogs and a chicken stop by to say hello.
Lots of trees and shade & a babbling brook.
The stars were amazing and the weather was perfect. Our hosts were very friendly and helpful.

Weekend Trip to Tiny Home Cabin in the Hills
Araceli is a wonderful, friendly and generous host. Her land is beautiful and provides a peaceful and relaxing place to get away and spend time with someone special, or in solitude.
Her two dogs are friendly and visit occasionally. This was a wonderful camping experience with an actual comfortable bed. There is a shower with hot water, don’t forget soap and towels.
Great experience and I hope to stay again in the future. Thank you.

Hosts were lovely, responded quickly, and were very accomodating. The man who gave us a tour was very knowledgable; we had never learned so much about ostriches/birds and we had been to other ostrich farms before! Also gave us great tips on where to travel in the area around the ranch. Definitely would visit again, very peaceful place to stay.

This is a great spot for a hop over, or for a big group if you want to book all the tent spots together. The cooking area is communal, and clean and they were very accommodating answering questions about the propane campfire and grill. We went a weekend that was particularly windy, and had to cut our trip short so know the winds can get really powerful in this area. But there was also a wind event in LA county so it may have been exaggerated for us. Regardless, we enjoyed dinner and karaoke at the restaurant down the road where kids were welcome, and had coffee at a new coffee shop with live music closer to Lake Elizabeth. So some lovely things to explore nearby!
Our kids loved having the playground equipment and meeting the ostriches which are wild to see up close. Beautiful views in the morning as well!

We had a wonderful weekend at site # 4. Going in early March was cold but we had the whole campsite to ourselves. The views were beautiful & the animals were precious. Even in the chilly weather we toom the kayak & paddleboard out for a spin & enjoyed our time on the water. We will definitely be coming back again!

My partner and I really enjoyed our stay at the farm! The pond was great, I was able to catch my first fish ever and 24 more after that! The farm was very clean and well kept. We had enough shade until mid afternoon and then threw our canopy up. The outdoor shower honestly exceeded my expectations and I really enjoyed it! The water was hot!!! And the bathroom was clean.
Meredith was super responsive and helpful. I enjoyed having Olaf around! I felt very safe and protected.

Our stay at this farm was absolutely wonderful. From the moment we arrived, the peaceful atmosphere made it the perfect place to relax and unwind. Being surrounded by animals like donkeys, alpacas, chickens, peacocks, and even camels made the experience really unique and special. The property itself is beautiful, with great hiking trails that let you fully take in the scenery and quiet surroundings. It was the perfect balance of nature and comfort. The cabin was incredibly cozy and comfortable. If you're looking for a peaceful getaway with a touch of farm life and nature, this place is truly a gem. We would definitely love to come back.
